Mays made his first appearance in a Lions uniform Sunday afternoon, Jansen tells you what he saw.

00:00Where was Aiden Hutchinson, though?
00:02Good morning, 97.1.
00:04Got a text that says,
00:06if Jim thinks going for it,
00:07fourth down of your own territory was the right call.
00:09He loses all credibility with me.
00:11We're going to fight about it at 635.
00:14Yeah.
00:14There's a text, actually a couple,
00:16talking Cade Mays, John.
00:18Would love to get your breakdown.
00:20This text says,
00:20Cade Mays single-handedly tried to give the game back,
00:23put Juice back in,
00:25and another said, simply,
00:26Juice Scruggs is our center.
00:27He's better than Cade Mays.
00:30This was the first time that Cade Mays was out there
00:33in the regular season.
00:35Okay, that's a fact.
00:39I knew, I think we all anticipated,
00:41but I knew that there were going to be,
00:43and I think I tried to talk about this a little bit last week.
00:46I don't know if I was clear enough.
00:48There were going to be communication issues.
00:51He's going to see things, call things,
00:52do things different than Juice Scruggs did.
00:55And Mahogany and Ratledge,
00:58both young players,
01:00it's going to take them a little bit longer
01:03to adjust to a new center.
01:06And it's also the CQ Exchange,
01:08which we saw was an issue.
01:12This is why you don't rotate centers.
01:15And I'm not saying that when Cade Mays came back,
01:19that he shouldn't have been put in there.
01:20If they believe that he is ultimately the better of the two centers,
01:25then you instantly put them in.
01:26We heard it from Dan Campbell.
01:27You rip the Band-Aid off,
01:28you put them in,
01:29there's going to be some bleeding outside that Band-Aid.
01:34Is he not better equipped now for Minnesota having played this game?
01:37Yes.
01:38But there were early,
01:40especially early on,
01:41some free runners in the backfield
01:43because there were miscommunications.
01:45And some of it was just Mahogany struggled in the first quarter.
01:49Like I was really disappointed on some of the plays where he just flat out got beat.
01:55Cade Mays,
01:57it was,
01:59it was a first game.
02:00It was eh.
02:02Nothing exceptional.
02:03And I'm also going to not look at it and say nothing that was all that bad except for the
02:11turnover.
02:12And I do put that,
02:13I don't necessarily put that one just on Cade Mays.
02:15It's when you're trying to reach a guy or you're trying,
02:20you're snapping in shotgun and you're blocking.
02:22Like that ball is going to come out different for Cade Mays than it does for Juice Scruggs.
02:28I was actually in the,
02:29I had to go back and watch it because I was in the car picking up Jack from football when
02:34that one happened.
02:35And Lomas,
02:35I thought was really good at describing what Goff needed to do.
02:41You're going to have to ride the center a little bit longer.
02:46And it felt to me like Goff was just in automatic mode.
02:51He wasn't as locked into,
02:54I've got a different center.
02:55And so I'm going to have to ride this one a little bit longer because of the block that's happening.
03:02That's the chemistry that you don't have when you make a change.
03:06Tech says,
03:07weak John.
03:08What about Green Bay's third center?
03:09First game,
03:10no mistakes out of him.
03:11Sure.
03:12I mean,
03:13yeah,
03:13they went,
03:13they went from one to two to three.
03:14Yeah.
03:15All a matter of a drive.
03:16Right.
03:17And so it,
03:17but all I'm saying is it doesn't have to happen,
03:20but it did,
03:20but it is a risk that you take.
03:23And now moving forward,
03:25Goff knows a little bit more at game speed,
03:27what it's like to be under center with Cade Mays as your center.
03:32I thought he was better in pass pro than in the run blocking.
03:35I don't know if you would agree with that.
03:36I was surprised.
03:37Yeah.
03:38I was too.
03:39And it was like his MO was supposed to be kind of the opposite where he is a,
03:44you know,
03:45a downhill gap blocks game,
03:47power run center.
03:49And I didn't see that as much.
03:51Now,
03:51again,
03:52some of it is just,
03:53he's got to get the rhythm of,
03:55and the feel of,
03:56I got to be a little bit lower because it wasn't full contact last week.
03:59It hasn't been since he was hurt in training camp.
04:03So yeah,
04:04he's,
04:04he'll adjust this week.
04:06He'll be fine.
04:07He'll be better.
04:09We're going to talk about Dan Campbell's gamble at his own 24 yard line.
04:14We'll get to that in 10 minutes.
04:15Heather with the news.
04:17Good morning,
04:18you guys.
04:19Um,
04:20a Detroit woman has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to this decade long federal student
04:27aid fraud scheme.
04:29So from 2015 to 2025,
04:32this woman,
04:33Michelle Hill fraudulently obtained federal student aid funding on behalf of more than 80 students.
04:40And investigators say that she submitted the aid application for the students to attend Wayne County Community College.
04:46in Detroit,
04:47even though these students had no intention of actually pursuing a degree.
04:51So after she was able to secure high school diplomas necessary for the applications,
04:58it sounds like she would enroll these students and actually complete their online coursework to create the appearance that they
05:04were actually like making academic process,
05:07progress and extend then their eligibility for student aid across multiple semesters.
05:13Anyway,
05:14she was caught.
05:15The scheme led to about $2.5 million in aid being dispersed.
05:19I know.
05:20Um,
05:20she pleaded guilty to wire fraud and now,
05:23uh,
05:23she's going to have to pay all of that money back to the U S department of education.
05:29Yikes.
05:29Uh,
05:30a Troy couple is left picking up the pieces after a Tesla plowed through their house.
05:36So it happened actually last Thursday evening.
05:39Um,
05:39this driver allegedly failed to stop at the end of the street and just plowed into this home.
05:44High rate of speed.
05:45Um,
05:46according to the neighbors,
05:46it had to be because the car actually went through the homeowner's office into the bedroom where he and his
05:52girlfriend were lying and then through the wall of their house.
05:55Literally went like straight through right through the homeowner said he initially thought that the hot water heater had exploded,
06:01that that's what was the sound he heard.
06:03Um,
06:05thankfully both walked away.
06:07It was just like minor bumps and bruises.
06:08They're good.
06:08They're going to be physically okay.
06:10But the house obviously left in shambles.
06:12It wasn't one of the new Teslas where it would have just flown over the house.
06:15Oh yeah.
06:16That would have been so much better.
06:19Um,
06:19they're trying to now see like what their insurance will cover.
06:22Obviously,
06:23police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and,
06:27um,
06:28you don't say,
06:28right.
06:30And,
06:30uh,
06:31waiting for some blood test results.
06:32Um,
06:33M&M's mom's spaghetti is officially making its way into Ford field.
06:37So,
06:38um,
06:39obviously the famous spaghetti spot opened a permanent concession stand,
06:43uh,
06:43for Sunday's lions Packers game,
06:45uh,
06:46making it at the first location outside of its downtown Detroit takeout window.
06:51And it sounds like it is there to stay.
06:54It's going to be a permanent fixture.
06:55Um,
06:56the menu includes the classic spaghetti spaghetti,
06:59meatballs,
06:59the sketchy sandwich.
07:00And then it's also going to be making,
07:03um,
07:04it's way overseas.
07:05There's going to apparently be a pop-up mom's spaghetti for the big lions fan festival in
07:11Munich.
07:11in Germany.
07:12Yeah.
07:13Cool.
07:13Would you guys have the,
07:15uh,
07:15sketti sandwich?
07:16I've had it.
07:16Oh,
07:17how is it?
07:17Yeah,
07:17it's good.
07:18I like it.
07:19It's basically just spaghetti between garlic bread.
07:22Yeah.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Now I don't know probably charging an arm and a leg inside the stadium,
07:26but it's good.
07:27Okay.
07:27I would much rather it be a,
07:29you know,
07:30throw some meatballs on there.
07:31And if some noodles were attached,
07:32fine to be a meatball sandwich,
07:35but yeah,
07:35I guess I don't know.
07:37I sure.
07:37I totally,
07:38I mean,
07:38who doesn't like garlic bread and spaghetti?
07:40I've never had it.
07:41It's not,
07:42it's not a huge spaghetti fan.
07:44This guy is weird.
07:46He doesn't,
07:46he's got,
07:46he's got pasta like once or twice a year.
07:49Yeah.
07:50Not a big fan.
07:51Really?
07:51Not a big fan.
07:52Oh,
07:53I do love,
07:53I do love spaghetti.
07:55You guys,
07:56Tom Brady seems to have a new supermodel in his life.
08:00Talk about a smoke show.
08:01Holy cow.
08:02I saw this and like,
08:03what is it about this guy?
08:04Like,
08:04good for him.
08:06What is it about him?
08:07Yeah.
08:07It's called cash money.
08:09I know,
08:10but like,
08:11it's kind of a weird guy.
08:12I mean,
08:13like good for him.
08:14I just,
08:15but,
08:15but these girls he's dating have cash money too,
08:17John.
08:18It's not like he's like,
08:18Oh,
08:19some random pretty girl off the street.
08:21It's like,
08:22you know,
08:22there's a lot of things involved in this.
08:24I think he's a little different.
08:25Anyway,
08:26he's reportedly dating a Victoria's secret model,
08:28Candace Swanepole.
08:30I don't know how you say her last name.
08:33Swingapole.
08:33I don't know.
08:35Swinapole.
08:36I don't know what her name is.
08:37Anyway,
08:37I believe it's Swainpool.
08:39Swainpool.
08:39There you go.
08:40There's no poles involved.
08:42Apparently.
08:42Anyway,
08:44apparently the two have been together for a while and they've kind of kept everything
08:48on the wraps.
08:49They've been spending lots of time together.
08:51Kind of private in his dating life,
08:53I guess,
08:53after his divorce from Gisele Bundchen in 2022.
08:57She is originally from South Africa,
08:59been a long time,
09:00Victoria's secret model.
09:01She just walked in the latest.
09:03But she's got a cool accent too.
09:05Probably does.
09:05Yeah.
09:06So she's beautiful.
09:07He's 49.
09:08She's 38.
09:09Yeah.
09:10Oh,
09:10so it's not as,
09:13I thought she was younger.
09:14That's why I gave the age to you.
09:16When you think like he's dating a supermodel.
09:17She's been around for a long time.
09:19I'm surprised I don't know her last name because I know who she is.
09:21How dare you?
09:22Supermodels can be any age.
09:23I know,
09:24John.
09:24That's my point.
09:25Yes.
09:26As long as you're not.
09:26Good for him.
09:2780 on the cover of.
09:29God.
09:29SI.
09:30She looked awesome.
09:32You're never going to change my mind.
09:33She makes his pole Swain.
09:38Well done.
09:39How do you say her name?
09:40Swain Pole.
09:42No.
09:43It had a pole in there though.
09:44There's no pole.
09:44There was a pool.
09:45Pool.
09:46Swain Pole.
09:47Swain Pole.
09:48Heather with the news.
09:51Coming up next.
09:54Dan Gamble.
09:55Oh,
09:55people hated this.
09:56I didn't.
09:57It's 97.
09:57One.
