00:02It's time to face the music, as students from across the Flinders put a year of hard work to the
00:08test.
00:11They meet once a year and have a day of music and mostly a day of friendship and learning the
00:18skills associated with becoming a performer.
00:22The Adelaide Youth Orchestra are visiting the Southern Flinders to play alongside regional music students.
00:27I believe in 2023 we had our first concert which had 50 students and today we've had 100.
00:36It feels real good playing with all the different kinds of instruments. It's a lot different to just trumpets.
00:42The one day workshop and concert is part of the instrumental music program, taking music teachers to regional schools around
00:49the state.
00:50If you ask the teachers and the students, it's a lot better to have someone in the room.
00:54For some of these students, this is the first time in five years they've had access to in-person music
00:59lessons at school.
01:00And they've certainly been making the most of it.
01:05In-person lessons are a nice change for these budding musicians.
01:09Do you practice it at home?
01:11Sometimes, not always.
01:13Does your family like it? Is it a bit noisy?
01:16They say I have to be in a different room every time I practice.
01:22Taking music access up an octave.
01:24Thank you very much.
