00:06ah here we go again ladies and gentlemen we got another one of those stories but
00:10in this one actually somebody stood up and did the right thing let's get into it
00:18a high school cross-country runner in washington state is at the center of a growing controversy
00:23after switching from the boys team to the girls team in the middle of the season
00:27and yesterday's race nearly half of the team refused to compete walking off the starting
00:32line in protest a moment now going viral our next guest made the same decision about a month ago
00:39high school runners charlie garrett and sierra red slap join us now to tell us their story good
00:45morning to you ladies good morning good morning so sierra what did y'all decide to do i was reading
00:51that a week before you were going to compete against this individual who decided they were
00:57a biological boy but in the middle of the season they wanted to switch to the girls team you found
01:01out a week before you were going to compete against this person and what did y'all do when you
01:04got up
01:05to the starting line um so we had previously gotten body paint and wrote um keep women and women sports
01:12down our arms and legs and then um on the start line when the gun went off we basically just
01:18walked
01:18a few meters and then just walked off the course okay and then charlie so y'all wrote y'all
01:24had paint
01:24on your body reading keep women and women's sports so when you decided to walk off what was the reaction
01:31of your friends what what was the community saying your high school saying um well the community was
01:38very supportive me and sierra's decision and a lot of people that we have known previously from old clubs
01:46to family members um our team uh was a little probably a little bit shocked at first but over
01:54time they came around and our team is um actionable now so okay so sierra september 5th this athlete
02:01uh finished 76th in the boys jv cross country race then about 24 days later september 29th finished
02:10first in the girls varsity race so it's jv on the boys finishing 76 but finishing first on varsity
02:18girls is this why yeah and they say um it doesn't matter the guy was dead last when he actually
02:25ran with
02:26the fellas but all of a sudden soon as he runs with the ladies he's first
02:35like you you literally can't make this stuff up you really can't it was the same situation
02:40with um who who was that swimmer you guys remember that the the swimmer who was like
02:47he was he was like dead last when it came to men or like ranked super low when it came
02:52to men but as
02:52soon as he started swimming against the chicks he was like number one and then there was another race
02:59where i think he got like second but i felt like he was sandbagging on purpose like he slowed himself
03:04down just so it didn't look as terrible you know and got second who what was what was his name
03:11let
03:11me let me know in the comments i i feel like i can i can see his face but i
03:16can't think of the name
03:19was was that where um what's what's the one chick riley riley games i believe her name is
03:25is that where she came from as well let me know let me know let me know you decided to
03:30protest
03:31yeah i mean he's taking that spot so um i don't think that that's right or fair charlie how about
03:39you um i agree with sierra i don't think it's fair at all and um he's taking away a spot
03:47from every
03:47single girl that lines up on that line so what about what happened yesterday people on this
03:54athlete's team half the team decided not to compete
04:01um yeah i think it's amazing what they did and i think it's really brave and courageous of them
04:06especially since that they're running with this person and it is one of their teammates so i really
04:11applaud those cameras girls and i couldn't be more proud of them yeah sierra you got support from
04:17your parents right didn't they take signs to the to the meet and your dad ended up being kicked out
04:24because signage is not appropriate the athletics director said yeah that's true they did take signs
04:31and they were told pretty much right away that they weren't allowed to have them on the campus
04:36so so what what went behind that did your parents say right before the the meet i support you we're
04:42going
04:42to make signs we're going to stand with our daughter yeah i had known um beforehand that they
04:48were going to um come with signs you didn't know that no i did know you did how did that
04:53make you feel
04:54having the support of your parents i mean obviously it's um great not feeling like you're the only one
05:00doing something and um having like the people that are always with me through everything there
05:06really helped a lot yeah so charlie shout out to her parents man folks with some common sense
05:11you love to see it right you love to see it um washington interscholastic activities association
05:17which governs high school sports in your state allowed for such a switch what is their reaction now
05:24are they saying okay we hear the two of you we hear the voices of the concern uh citizens in
05:30our
05:30community we might change the laws or the rules um i'm not 100 sure on that but all that i
05:39know
05:40about this and how it could be changed is in november that there's a ballot that people can vote on
05:45and that could um change this rule to where only biological females can compete in female sports so
05:52that's all that i know about um that topic sierra and charlie thank you all so much for coming on
05:59yeah shout out to them man some young folks with common sense you know it's stuff like that that
06:04really gives you a little bit of hope for the future right um because they are the future
06:09uh and when you have individuals in a time like right now where there's so much pressure
06:15to just go along with the crowd the so-called crowd um that is beautiful to see people standing
06:22up for what it is that they believe in going against the grain so to speak a little bit
06:27um not because they're hateful people because they're not but of course the left will try to
06:31paint them as that as such as hateful individuals but in reality we we know who the real hateful
06:38people are it is folks on the left they are the hateful ones they're the ones when a man
06:44died in front of thousands of people they're the ones that cheered for it they're the ones that
06:48laughed about it they're the ones that mocked it and tried to reenact it and do all types of
06:53crazy stuff they're the hateful individuals it's not us it's not it's not folks like these uh these
07:00young ladies here okay so i just wanted to make that clear because of course that's going to be
07:05the narrative that the far left is going to uh push following you know this instant but i want to
07:11get
07:12into another clip because um someone that we've checked out in the past actually had something
07:17to say about that entire situation check it out after this viral video capturing them walking off
07:22in protest after on after they were forced to compete with a biological male indiana fever guard
07:31sophie cunningham who is outspoken on this issue of men and women's sports commenting on instagram
07:37saying of this protest good work girls commenting on instagram saying oh they repeated it there she goes
07:45uh good work girls most people with large platforms cave and issue a groveling apology says riley gains
07:53the minute they get a little pushback that's what they do not sophie cunningham good for her this type
07:58of moral conviction is so rare and those are your headlines good for sophie cunningham yeah those girls
08:07need help yeah absolutely and i agree with riley you know um in a lot of these spaces people
08:17capitulate to the mob and that is the last thing that anybody should be doing don't capitulate don't
08:24bend the knee don't do any of that right because if you're right you're right and in this situation
08:29they are right i mean look at the results the guy went from dead last to first clearly there's a
08:37massive advantage there like this is this is just common sense it's common sense okay but um yeah man
08:47i i'm just shocked that this is even still a discussion a topic of discussion like this is this
08:54is real simple but shout out to sophie cunningham man and i i hope that uh she gets to continue
08:59her
09:00wmba career um i don't know if you guys know but this would have been her last season with uh
09:06the fever
09:07she only had a year-long contract so hopefully some team resigns her if not the fever themselves
09:14hopefully she stays with um um um caitlin clark that that would be beautiful to see i think they're
09:20a good tandem um but we know how the left is we know how the mob is okay i'm sure
09:26there's a whole lot
09:27of pressure on the wmba to try to stifle sophie cunningham's career now because she's been outspoken
09:35okay um and this is this honestly is going to be a little bit of a test a big test
09:42really not a
09:43little bit of a test a big test for the wmba are you going to capitulate to the mob once
09:47again
09:47or are you going to stand up for what's right for a player that actually plays pretty darn well
09:52in sophie cunningham what do you guys think is going to happen
09:56is she going to get re-signed or is her career over because she was outspoken
10:01let me know and as always stay safe out there peace and love i'm out
