00:12You are the coordinator building program of the West African Power Pool
00:17that has been recognized by CIGRE in 2021.
00:21What were the first priorities of your program?
00:24Yes, thank you. Our first priority when the CIGRE West African was created
00:30is to build a foundation, a solid foundation for this organization.
00:36For that, we started by elaborating the legal document of our national committee,
00:46especially the bylaws and the role of a procedure.
00:50Then we set up the decision bodies, the board of directors, the technical committee
01:00and the panel of experts.
01:03After that, we started to promote the organization within our member utilities
01:09and within the West African region.
01:11Of course. Last July, Philippe Adam, the general secretary of CIGRE, came to Dakar
01:16to participate in a very important event that was taking place toward the youngness.
01:23Can you tell us more about this event?
01:25Yes, indeed. We had the privilege to host Mr. Philippe Adam in Dakar,
01:33beside of the 20th Congress of African Power Utilities Association.
01:42So during his stay, we visited two big universities in Dakar,
01:49Polytechnics in Thiers and in Dakar.
01:54And we presented the CIGRE to those universities.
01:59I can assure that we met very enthusiastic young people who immediately started to join the organization.
02:10And today, there are more than 13 students who joined our organization.
02:18What are the next steps, maybe the new projects within the big house of CIGRE?
02:23The next project, in the short term, is to increase the number of memberships.
02:30Of course. That is very important for us.
02:33For that, we intend to operationalize our website directly.
02:42And then, in medium term, is to promote the CIGRE within the region and within other organizations.
02:56Okay? And in the long term, we want to be the first national committee in the world.

03:07Yes, because, you know, West African National Committee covers 15 countries.
