00:16First of all, what does this medal represent for you?
00:20It is certainly a great honour, there is no doubt about it.
00:24You join a group of people that are distinguished in their field.
00:30I'm certainly thankful and honoured that I was even nominated, but it's certainly appreciated.
00:37What are the benefits, according to you, to be a member of Sigre?
00:42Sigre is an incredible organisation, there is no doubt about it.
00:47You join Sigre without really knowing many things when you're a young engineer,
00:54but to tell you the truth, it is an organisation where you work with peers, people that are in your
01:02field,
01:03the top in your field, you're working with them, you're producing technical documents that are the top in the area.
01:10But more important is help. If you ever have a problem, it's amazing how many people will actually come forward
01:19and extend their hand to help you.
01:23And the biggest thing in my opinion are friendships too. You create many friendships that last you a lifetime.
01:31Nice. What are the importance, according to you, to this kind of event, to Paris session, to be here by
01:39being a member of Sigre?
01:40Oh, it's incredible. You know, we've been two years for virtual meetings, e-meetings and so on.
01:49And sure, it works. Nobody's saying it doesn't work. It does work.
01:53But you miss the face to face contact. You miss meeting the people and even just having face to face
02:03discussions.
02:04And you miss even just the social interaction with your peers. And there is nothing like meeting people face to
02:15face.
02:15What could you say, like a last word to the young generation that is maybe still hesitating to join Sigre?
02:22I've been there. I actually came to Sigre in 1982. And you are hesitant. You don't know what to expect.
02:31But once you're in, if you join and you work, consider it like a career. You work in Sigre, you
02:41meet the people, you work with them.
02:44It's a great experience. And also, I honestly believe it's good for their career. It is absolutely great for their
02:52career.
02:53Meeting people in your field opens up doors to you.
