The Imperial Seal of the State, inscribed with the words "By the Mandate of Heaven, May Its Longevity Be Everlasting," was the foundation of the nation. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the empire was in chaos, and the Imperial Seal disappeared. Sun Jian found it in a well within the Luoyang Palace. At that time, warlords rose up across the land, all vying for control of the Han Dynasty. Later, Sun Jian was ambushed. Before his death, he entrusted his son, Sun Ce, with the task of carrying on his legacy, restoring the Han Dynasty, and safeguarding the Imperial Seal.
Zhou Yu, a descendant of a prominent family in Jiangdong, and whose families had maintained a long-standing friendship with Sun Jian, faced the infamy of secretly possessing the seal. Zhou Yu, however, chose to abandon his studies and join the army. At the end of the Han Dynasty, before becoming the Grand Commander of Eastern Wu, the young Zhou Yu harbored a strong belief in restoring the Han Dynasty. Despite his exceptional martial skills, he had no way to serve his country. He waited for an opportunity, believing he could find a wise ruler to restore the Han Dynasty and realize his ideals. Sun Ce, however, saw through the unpredictable nature of human nature in a chaotic world. In the midst of intrigue and chaos, distrusting everyone, Zhou Yu hoped to lead an uprising and protect the people. Thus, Zhou Yu and Sun Quan embarked on different paths to save the country.
Later, Dong Zhuo seized control of the Han Dynasty, and Yuan Shao convened a coalition of warlords to rescue the emperor. Zhou Yu also saw a glimmer of hope in realizing his ideals and restoring the Han Dynasty. He chose to serve under Yuan Shao's trusted strategist, Qu, hoping to repay his debt of gratitude.
