During the reign of Emperor Taikang of the Xia Dynasty, Xiao Yao caused trouble during a village's sacrificial ceremony to Heaven, just as a swarm of bats attacked the village. The villagers believed Xiao Yao had offended Heaven, and the priest wanted to sacrifice her as an atonement. To save Xiao Yao, Shu Sheng made a vow: if he couldn't find the cause of the anomaly, he would join Xiao Yao in the sacrifice. With the help of Xiao Yao and Ji Wenyuan, Shu Sheng ventured deep into the dense forest. After some difficulty, he finally found the bats' den, set it on fire, and burned all the bats to death, successfully averting the crisis. Shu Sheng became the village's hero, but a half-mad old man in the village kept proclaiming that a great calamity was about to befall them. Suddenly, a family of three in the village was killed overnight by the Bat King. The villagers believed that Shusheng had angered the Bat King by setting fire to the bats, and Shusheng was once again the sinner of the village. Shusheng and Xiaoyao were tied up, but the mad old man helped Ji Wenyuan rescue them. Ji Wenyuan advised Shusheng to leave the village with Xiaoyao, but Shusheng believed that he had brought this disaster upon himself and that he had to solve it. But how could he defeat the Bat King? At this moment, the mad old man said that the Divine Dragon Bow was the strongest weapon to eliminate the Bat King! Shusheng ventured into a cave in the dense forest at night, fought against the blood-sucking vines, and finally found the Divine Dragon Bow. The Bat King finally appeared, and Shusheng was filled with boundless power. He shot and killed the Bat King. From then on, Shusheng shouldered the heavy responsibility of protecting the people of China.
