A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of CGP leaders Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka by two days until October 21 in connection with a trespassing case transferred to the crime branch. The court observed that both leaders deliberately breached their peace bonds signed on October 11, showed disregard for the law, and that their assurances of not repeating the alleged acts failed to inspire confidence, alongside concerns over potential disturbance of public tranquility. Fresh sureties were also deemed necessary as prior sureties failed to ensure appearance. Meanwhile, CGP founder Abhijit Dipke criticized the proceedings, alleging misuse of state machinery, courts, and police to stifle dissent and target youth opposition voices.

00:00No relief for CGP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka as their judicial custody has now been
00:05extended by two days. Both CGP leaders will remain in Tihar jail till October 21st in connection
00:11with the trespassing case that has now been transferred to the crime branch. Earlier,
00:15Delhi court observed that CGP leaders had deliberately breached their peace bonds
00:20and that their conduct showed disregard for the law. It also claimed that their assurances of not
00:26repeating the alleged acts failed to inspire confidence. The court also expressed concerns
00:31over the possibility of a breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility.
00:35Now, the CGP leaders have strongly criticized the proceedings, alleging that the extension of
00:40custody amounts to mental torture and an attempt to stifle dissent. They have said that they will
00:46challenge the decision, questioning the grounds for continued judicial custody. CGP founder Abhijit
00:51Dipke has also launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Modi, alleging that state machinery is
00:55being used against opposition voices. Hailing the CGP leader's strength, he also accused the Modi
01:00government of using courts and police to silence dissent. Abhijit Dipke asserted that the CGP would
01:06not back down and that the youth could not be silenced through the use of state machinery.
01:12The police, the courts, the courts, the strength of Modi, the strength of Modi. The whole state machinery
01:21used by using two children, who have the children of Modi's father's parents, if they have the
01:27family, if they have their children, then the children of Sorovarashun's father's parents are in jail,
02:00I don't know.
02:03It is unfortunate how many procedural delays are being caused just to keep people behind the bars for no good
02:21reason.
02:22Procedure that is entirely in the hands of this court and its staff are being misused.
02:27They are being made up, excuses are being made up, explanations are not being offered
02:31and judicial custody is just being extended for no reason at all.
02:37Let's now take a look at the observations of the Delhi court on Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka and why
02:43they are still in jail.
02:44So the court said that Das and Ranka deliberately broke the peace bonds that they had signed on October 11th
02:51and their conduct showed disrespect for the law and there are fears of a fresh breach of peace.
02:57Hence, the judicial custody has been extended, promised not to repeat, the act failed to convince.
03:05So the court said that their promise that they will not be repeating, these acts are not convincing
03:11and the fresh sureties were found unfit in the matter.
03:16So that's also a very crucial point that was made by the Delhi court.
03:18The sureties failed to ensure their appearance and the fresh sureties required for both,
03:24there are fresh sureties which are required for both respondents and hence these were the reasons that were cited by
03:29the Delhi court.
03:30These were the observations that were cited by the Delhi court for extending the judicial custody of Ashutosh Ranka and
03:38Saurav Das by two days.
03:39Now they will be in Tihar jail till October 21st, that is till tomorrow.
