Antwerp turns into a full day of travel, food, and chocolate dreams as Jetske explores Belgium’s famous city just a short train ride from the Netherlands. After an 80-kilometer bike ride the day before, she starts with breakfast at the hotel, then joins a self-guided city tour that passes landmarks like Sint Jacobskerk, Sint Carolus Borromeuskerk, Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal, Het Steen, and the Grote Markt.

The adventure continues with vegan gelato and a Belgian waffle topped with powdered sugar, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream, before heading to the Chocolate Museum. There, the focus shifts from cocoa beans to chocolate bars, with history, tasting, and a close look at the chocolate-making process. The visit leaves her inspired to one day grow her own cacao tree and make chocolate herself.

Created for fans of travel vlogs, Antwerp city tours, Belgian food, and chocolate museum visits, this episode blends sightseeing, local history, and cozy lifestyle storytelling. It also fits searches for Netherlands vlog, Belgium day trip, vegan waffles, and bean to bar chocolate experiences.

00:00Hello everyone and thanks for watching this new vlog and today I am in Antwerpen and for the
00:10people who don't know that Antwerpen is a city in Belgium. Belgium is the neighbors of the
00:15Netherlands and since the Netherlands is such a small country it just takes two hours by train
00:22to come from the Netherlands to Belgium which is really nice and fun fact in Belgium they speak
00:30part of them speak French and part of them speak Dutch and I think Antwerpen is like a mixture of
00:37Dutch and French so yeah we can even speak our own language in another country which is funny
00:45and I think that's the reason why Belgium and the Netherlands are always so connected because
00:50we can understand each other. Anyhow for my Dutch channel I went yesterday by bike to Antwerp. I
00:57didn't bike from my hometown to Antwerp that was the first plan but actually while I was doing it
01:03I was thinking I'm crazy so I biked in total 80 kilometers which is of course still a lot. I'm
01:11okay after this whole biking trip but today we will spend well I want to say a whole day in
01:17Antwerp which
01:17is not totally true because we were leaving around fall but we're going to spend the rest of the day
01:23in Antwerp and then go back with the train to the Netherlands and of course I bring you with us
01:30and the first thing we're going to do is having breakfast in our hotel
01:44okay the breakfast is is done is it it's finished I need to stay
01:53okay take two
01:57the breakfast is finished we finished the breakfast jesus christ my I'm still tired
02:03uh and we're going to do a tour and you download is it an app or it's an app oh
02:09you download an app
02:10you can buy a tour oh you can buy a tour oh nice so we're going to do a city
02:14tour during an app
02:15and I was thinking I just make some shots with a voiceover so I will be your tour guide for
02:24now so
02:24enjoy the tour we started our tour at Sint Jacobs church one of the biggest churches in Antwerpen
02:32the Sint Jacobs church gave shelter to little crafts and religious communities you can find the tomb of
02:39rubens unfortunately they are now renovating the church so you can see that again in 2025 you can
02:47find a lot of street light in Antwerpen with a maria statue above this was from the time that the
02:53neighborhood has to pay a lot of taxes for street light but if they could prove that the light was
02:59there for the statue and not for the road then they didn't have to pay taxes the next stop was
03:05the
03:05Sint Carolus Borromeus church the church was built between 1615 and 6021 Rubens was one of the designers
03:14of the church we did a real church tour because our next stop was the Onze Lieve Vrouwen Cathedral that
03:21was built between 1352 and 1521 the people from Antwerpen see the tower as the most beautiful tower of the
03:30world the tower is 122 meter high and there is a city rule that no other building in the city
03:37can be
03:38higher than this tower next to the river the Schelde is Hedstein or when you translate it in english it
03:46would
03:46be stone a medieval fortress built in 1200 to 1225 you have a great view of the river from this
03:55building
03:56so back then they could see who had entered the haven in 1303 to 1827 it was used as a
04:05prison
04:05the town hall is the heart of the center it is decorated with all the flags from the 27 european
04:12union countries the town hall is located at the big market around 1310 there was every year a market
04:19nowadays you find almost every day a market okay guys the tour is finished yes i changed my clothes
04:27during the tour because i was feeling cold but now the next stop will be the gelato i see gelato
04:34the ice
04:35cream store which they sell where they sell vegan ice cream and vegan waffles so i like that because when
04:45you are in belgium you should try the waffles and since i'm vegan i want to try vegan waffles but
04:51you
04:52find normal waffles everywhere on every street corner yes yes so when you are in belgium just try that
05:01and we are now looking around at the markets and then go to the store to the restaurant i have
05:07to say
05:08nice i'm excited
05:25what is the correct english word for the puder sugar powdered sugar yes okay because i thought always
05:33that it was wrong english but it's powdered sugar sugar and some chocolate sauce should i spring with
05:40it on oh i'm so satisfying already this is my lunch and i love it so guys which side do
05:56we have to go
05:57okay we just came back from ice lab and it was just all plant-based ice cream and it was
06:04really amazing
06:05though because the woman worked for one and a half year to get the perfect ice cream right because she
06:13said a lot of vegans or a lot of people who want to eat plant-based more often they always
06:18say yes
06:19but it's not a real good taste she wanted to do the really good taste and she nailed it honestly
06:26it was
06:26great yes it was really great and the waffle was great and the whipped cream was great it was really
06:32a nice experience so i would go back to ice lab more often if i lived in Antwerpen but i
06:38don't live in
06:38Antwerpen but yeah it is worth the two-hour trip absolutely so after our lovely waffle we are now going
06:47to the
06:47chocolate museum and they're gonna tell us how they make the nice belgium chocolate because
06:55belgium is famous of two things waffles and chocolates i'm curious how they will make the belgium chocolates
07:05so let's go
07:08the chocolate museum was really amazing i felt like a little child in a candy store
07:21you could see the wall process from bean to chocolate but also learn about the history of chocolate
07:32and especially the belgium chocolate they are really proud of their chocolate and i can understand that
07:46thanks to this experience i've got more respect for the wall process and the quality of good chocolate
07:52it feels more like i have gold in my hands and i love to taste the different types of chocolate
08:20i hope that one day i have my own cacao tree and i can make chocolate myself that would be
08:27amazing
08:40so
