00:00This is Amsterdam and you may know Amsterdam from The Dam, the Red Light District or The
00:09Flying High.
00:10But did you know these places?
00:11The first stop is NDSM Werf, whatever you call it in English but in Dutch it's NDSM Werf.
00:19And you can go there with a free ferry from Amsterdam Central Station.
00:24Behind me, Amsterdam Central Station, I turn around, there is the ferry.
00:30So I should say, let's take this ferry to discover NDSM Werf.
00:35When arriving at Amsterdam Central Station, you should walk to the water.
00:40Because NDSM is laying on the other side of the Central Station, and on the other side
00:46of the water.
00:48Take the free ferry that says NDSM, it departs every 10 minutes.
00:54When arriving at NDSM, I took a quick lunch, but you can skip that and go ahead to the
01:00arty place.
01:01I can really recommend to visit the modern art in the big hall.
01:05It is free and you'll find some masterpieces.
01:30Although you can spend a full day here, I just went for a quick visit and went to the next
01:36hidden spots.
01:37And from this industrial, arty place, it's now time to go to the second place, which is
01:46almost the opposite of this place.
01:50But hey, let's take the boat to our second place.
01:54It is funny though, I had a whole plan for this video in my mind, but then somehow I took
01:59the wrong ferry and the plan went different.
02:03And to be honest, the plan went even better.
02:08So yeah, it's always good to stick to a plan, but when the plan is changing, just go with
02:14the flow.
02:14Yes, I went with the flow, because little did I know that from NDSM Berth, there was
02:21also going another ferry to Pondstijger.
02:25But it turned out in an amazing view and walk that not many people know.
02:31You saw on one side the modern buildings and on the other side the water with the houseboats.
02:36There was even a floating playground.
02:40It's definitely a long walk to the next location, but it's worth it.
02:52When I finally arrived at the Dam, I went to the Kalverstaat, going to my next hidden spot.
03:00So I walked and walked and turned to the right and there I was at the Begijnhof.
03:05The Begijnhof is still inhabited, as it has been historically, by a woman over the age
03:11of 30 living alone.
03:13In the past only Begijns lived there, however the last Begijn passed away in 1971.
03:21More than 100 women live in the complex.
03:25There are two churches.
03:26The site is also home to one of Amsterdam's oldest wooden houses, Het Houtenhuis, which dates
03:35back before the 1452, the year of Amsterdam's second great city fire.
03:41And from the Begijnhof you can walk easily to the train station to go to your next destination.
03:47So yeah guys, this is just a little part of Amsterdam that is not so much known by tourists.
03:52So maybe next time I take you to some other places.
03:55Thanks for watching, don't forget to subscribe, please put a thumbs up and I see you in the
04:00next video.
04:01Bye bye!
