00:26Hello everyone, my name is Jetske.
00:30And I'm struggling with my shoes.
00:33I'm from the Netherlands and currently living in the Netherlands.
00:38But my boyfriend is from Uganda, currently living in Uganda.
00:43And it's really sad news because we thought he could visit me in the summertime.
00:47But unfortunately, he can't make it.
00:51So yeah, probably we're going to see each other in December or something.
00:57And then we have to check if I am going to Uganda.
01:02Which, to be honest, I prefer because of the weather.
01:06Or that he is coming to the Netherlands.
01:09And the thing is, if he's coming to the Netherlands, he can be here for three months.
01:14That's a good thing, because then we can see each other longer.
01:18But if I'm going to Uganda, I just can't be there for three weeks.
01:23But yeah, the weather is better.
01:25And I have some nice opportunities there.
01:29So somehow I prefer Uganda.
01:32But yeah, it is in the middle.
01:36Nobody knows, or like my boyfriend should say, only God knows when and where are we going to see each
01:43other again.
01:44For now, I'm here alone in the Netherlands and I'm going to the gym.
01:49I don't think I'm going to film there because I think it will be very crowded.
01:54It's like 10 in the morning on a Sunday.
01:56So people will be awake and want to work out.
02:00But in the afternoon, I'm going to a wine festival.
02:05I'm not expecting that much of it.
02:09I have the feeling it's a festival for old people drinking wine.
02:13But my friends were excited and I was like, let's go with the flow.
02:18Why not?
02:19So I'm going to bring you there.
02:21But first, I'm going to work out.
02:24Okay, I'm almost done.
02:26Like I have to do my hair, but I'm dressed at least.
02:30And I've got a nice plate of food.
02:33Yes, it is seaweed and seaweed salad, some vegan chicken breasts, rice, soybeans, cucumber, radish, tomatoes, and that's it.
02:54And with soy sauce.
02:56So I'm going to eat that now.
02:57And then in 10 minutes, I'm going to the festival.
03:22Oh my god, we have now a wine.
03:24That's normally the bottle is like around 80 or 100 gero.
03:30Imagine.
03:32Insane.
03:34But I didn't taste it yet.
03:42It is nice, but I'm wondering if it's worth 100 gero.
03:48We didn't pay 100 gero for it.
03:52Let's be honest about it.
03:54But insane.
03:56Cheers.
04:00Oh my god, guys.
04:02I'm going back home.
04:05Back indoors.
04:07Woo.
04:07Sorry.
04:08First, I'm a little bit tipsy of all the wine.
04:11Second, it starts to rain so heavily with thunder and everything.
04:16That's always how Dutch summeries be like.
04:20Like one second you have like sunshine, nice hotness.
04:26Second time rain, thunder, wind, storm, everything.
04:31But yeah, it was a really nice festival.
04:36Actually, the bottle that I showed you, which was 80 euro, wasn't in the end 80 euro.
04:42It was, I think someone said 16 euro.
04:46But yeah, somehow, sometimes I feel like ashamed of showing you this.
04:51On the other hand, this is really what my life is like in the Netherlands.
04:55And what you should know, and what is really important to know about the Netherlands,
05:00Dutch people are really, on the one hand, independent, but also kind of, I don't want to say selfish,
05:07but maybe self-care, maybe that's the right word.
05:11Wait, I will put you down.
05:14I can put you here.
05:15It's a strange spot.
05:16Wait.
05:23Three hours later.
05:24Dutch people are always on their money, but also really taking care of themselves.
05:31And I sometimes have the feeling that when guys send me a message like,
05:35oh, give me a Dutch person or give me a white woman,
05:38that they indeed take care of themselves and not asking them for money.
05:44But they forget that they don't spend money as well on them.
05:51Because in the Dutch culture, it's really common,
05:55always pay for yourself.
05:57So for example, this wine festival,
06:00someone invited me and I say yes.
06:02And once I say yes, I know,
06:05okay, I have to spend money on the tickets,
06:07but I also have to spend money on the wine in this case.
06:11So I spend it for myself.
06:13It's not that the one that invites us spend all the money.
06:18No.
06:19When you got invited, like, hey, do you want to come as well?
06:22The moment you say yes, you have to pay.
06:25And that's something that I have the feeling Ugandan people forget about it.
06:30Because I know in the Ugandan culture, it's really normal that when you invite some people
06:34to go to a restaurant or go to a festival, you pay for everyone.
06:38In the Netherlands, totally not.
06:40And that's the reason why we go really often to a restaurant or out or to a festival.
06:48Because everyone just pays for themselves.
06:50And if your budget can handle it, you go.
06:53And if your budget can't handle it, you don't go.
06:58And that's sometimes the struggle between the finance, between me and my husband.
07:03Because I sometimes forget that when he's here, for example,
07:08that his income is, of course, lower than mine.
07:10So that I have to pay for him as well.
07:13And for me, I'm so used to only pay for myself.
07:19Then I'm like, oh my God, no.
07:22Oh, so yeah.
07:24But that's something he knows now and I know as well.
07:26So we deal with it nowadays.
07:29And yeah, we were just, I'm safe at home before the rain starts really bad.
07:36And it was a really nice festival.
07:37It was just cozy drinking wine.
07:40I'm a little bit tipsy, I said.
07:42But yeah, that's part of the festival, I think.
07:47So yeah, I'm going to do some chills, some work.
07:50Getting a little bit sober, drink water a lot.
07:54Drinking water, it's very important.
07:56I have to drink a lot of water and then chill.
07:58And then yeah, chill the night away.
08:25Okay, guys, I'm a little bit tired and the alcohol is a little bit down now.
08:32So I'm not that tipsy again, but just tired.
08:36But I really enjoyed today.
08:38I have the feeling that I didn't film that much, but I hope you had a nice impression of
08:44how the festival looks like.
08:46It was not really a festival.
08:48It was just drinking wine in the grass.
08:51But yeah, I like the vibe.
08:55Next week, so next video, I'm going to a really nice festival.
09:01It's called Kwaku.
09:02And it is a Suriname, Suriname festival.
09:06But since there used to live a lot of African people in Suriname, it has some African vibes
09:14as well.
09:16So yeah, I have always the feeling that I'm back in Uganda then.
09:21And I do love that festival.
09:23It is maybe one of my most favorite festivals ever.
09:28So yeah, I'm going to bring you with me then.
09:30And I'm going to feel more than I did today.
09:34So I hope you could enjoy this vlog.
09:37We're well in you for watching.
09:39And we're all right.
09:41Bye-bye.
