00:34about that at all whatsoever but in this game when you looked at it the starters played Mike Brown wasn't
00:40happy with the defensive effort for the starters but Jalen Brunson gotta talk about him Jalen Brunson looked pretty good
00:45looks like he's almost in regular season form yeah he was aggressive he was he was doing Jalen Brunson things
00:50when he gets in the paint using that footwork only shot one for four from deep but still had 22
00:55points I believe so yeah I mean that's a good effort from
00:59him the starters lost their minutes because Ann Edwards went off and Edwards was great one thing I did think
01:05was interesting is after the game Mike Brown said he's basically trying to simplify the offense
01:11to make themselves more predictable and make it so that it's it's the other team's defense has an easier time
01:18and he wants to see his own players break through
01:21um break through that defense so you know I think Mike Brown is toying with a bunch of things right
01:27now
01:27they're like you said they're 0-3 uh but it's preseason it's preseason that's what the preseason is for
01:32one of the things that I noticed in the preseason and I'm sure you've seen it we were down in
01:36Philadelphia
01:36last week Andre Drummond had three blocks he also had three blocks tonight we're in protection looking a little bit
01:42better what do you make of what we've seen from Andre Drummond defensively thus far here in the preseason
01:47pretty good um you know I think he's still if when you project him moving forward he's still not a
01:52good
01:52as good of a defender or rim protector as Mitchell Robinson uh but that's expected so if he's giving
01:58you the kind of stuff that you're seeing in preseason the Knicks are going to be in pretty good shape
02:01yeah you'll see that and after the game I had a chance to ask Mike Brown about what he thought

02:07Andre Drummond and his defensive ability thus far and he talked a lot about communication when it came to
02:11I tell you you know the blocks are great you know but I'm not a huge shot blocking guy um
02:20his
02:21communication right now is unbelievable like he you know usually your big is the one that sees
02:28everything out in front and so he's usually your quarterback of your defense a lot of bigs aren't
02:35great talkers though like um like like Draymond's one of the best in the league I mean he if you
02:41ever
02:41go to watch him sits back in the back and he just tells everybody what's going on and what to
02:46do
02:46and I thought Andre's communication tonight was and it's been good but tonight he it was off the charts
02:53it was off the charts and and you know the blocks are good him defending the pick and roll right
02:59way
02:59being big being up to there are a lot of good things that he did but just watching him but

03:06important more important listening to him man that got me really excited all right a guy we've talked
03:12a little bit about I guess here maybe not enough in the preseason is Pakom Dottier so so more more
03:17minutes tonight had seven points hit a couple threes in the first half where are the Knicks with him
03:22right now and what have you liked or maybe not like what you've seen from him in the preseason well
03:27this was his best game by far I mean he struggled not only during preseason previous preseason games
03:31but in summer league he didn't look very good with him it's important that he hits that three point
03:35shot uh he has not been able to hit that consistent three throughout his brief NBA career but he did
03:42hit
03:42two trays to nine I think he was two for three um the deal with Pakom is he has a
03:47a team option on his
03:50contract that needs to be picked up by Halloween yeah the Knicks will not be picking that up it'll it's
03:55over five million that we know they're counting their money uh that's not something they're going
03:59to want on their books which means Pakom Dottier is also going to be a potential trade uh um
04:05on potentially on the trade market because the Knicks could try to unload salary to sign another
04:11player they have a bunch of non-guaranteed guys they're working out now so Pakom is somebody I'm
04:15keeping an eye on moving forward uh in preseason and beyond yeah something to definitely keep an eye on
04:20there are other guys to keep an eye on the guys who were signed to non-standard contracts we saw
04:26four of them get more minutes tonight Ochai Abadji Drew Eubanks Tony Bradley and Kevin McCuller Jr.
04:33of the four of them did anyone impress you Bradley five for five ten points in seven minutes
04:39that's pretty efficient right yeah it's pretty efficient um none of them got much burn they the
04:43Mike Brown went with his starters for about 22 minutes total each uh and then he went with his
04:49first reserves after that and the guys that you're talking about the non-guarantees got a little
04:54bit of playing time little cameos uh but of the ones you mentioned you know Tony Bradley to me was
04:59the
04:59most impressive and keep in mind guys like James Wiseman did not play today because uh Mike Brown is
05:06mixing and matching in terms of which games he's going to use those guys right on do we still is
05:10it
05:10still Wiseman is a front runner for that final spot that's what that's what I heard a while ago and
05:16nothing uh that I've seen on the court would would change that or or anything like that but keep in
05:21mind tomorrow the Knicks have a back-to-back yes um they play tomorrow and the starters will not be
05:27playing in that game so they're not even traveling so we're going to get a heavy dose of the those
05:32reserves and some of those non-guarantees that you mentioned so that brings me to where we're going
05:37to close here because we talk about the Knicks they have another game north of the board in Toronto
05:41uh starters not traveling as Steph just said so for fans that are going to be watching this
05:46what should they be keeping their eye on in this penultimate preseason game for the Knicks
05:50penultimate that's a good one um Kawhi Leonard's supposed to play supposed to make it there you go
05:56this year's watching the opposition there you go hey you know what he's going to be a problem
05:59in the division so um you know how does Kawhi look I'm going to be looking at that more than
06:04anything
06:04uh but in terms of the Knicks listen we know about that that fight for that last roster spot
06:10we know that if guys like Bruce Brown can really impress then maybe you can tell it compel a trade
06:15trade a guy like the comb dotty or miles McBride to free up a roster spot so those are things
06:20that
06:21you're really that's really at stake in the in that um for the remainder of the preseason all right
06:25there you go some things to watch in that penultimate preseason game like the alliteration there I like
06:30to try to throw that in whenever I can we'll see what the Knicks do they have two more preseason
06:34games left and then it's on to the real games thank god yeah I know we're happy for that let's
06:39get it
