00:00Welcome to New York Gun Game.
00:05Let's talk about that, J-Mac, because the Knicks, they've won four straight coming in tonight's game.
00:09When you dig into the film, as you do, and you look at the numbers,
00:13what's the biggest indicator that this streak is sustainable rather than just a hot patch or hot stretch
00:19that we're seeing from this team right now?
00:21Yeah, I mean, look, I think it's always whenever you have a stretch like this where a team that,
00:27I think, as you say, a week ago, they were 18th or 19th in the league in defense,
00:33and they have now been first in the league in defense by a considerable margin.
00:38There's probably going to be some luck having to do with that, and sure enough,
00:42if you look at how opponents are shooting over the last four games against the Knicks,
00:47it is by far the lowest opponent effective field goal percentage in the league, 44.4%.
00:52The next lowest is 47.5%.
00:54So they're getting a little bit lucky.
00:56That said, the one thing that I do want to highlight is that the Knicks are turning over
01:01their opponents in this stretch at a much higher rate than they usually do.
01:06So for the season before these four games, the Knicks were a little bit below average
01:10when it came to opposing turnover rate, so how many turnovers they were generating.
01:15In this stretch of the last four games, they are third in the league in opponent turnovers.
01:21And we've talked about this before.
01:23I think if you look at the ideal version of this Knicks defense,
01:27it's not that they're always going to hold up, but it is guys like O.J. Ananobi,
01:30Mikael Bridges, Josh Hart getting into passing lanes, making things happen both on and off the ball.
01:36And I think you're seeing more of that over this recent hot stretch.
