Opposition leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, staged a protest march towards the Supreme Court on Monday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Delhi Police stopped the march with barricades near Mandi House. A delegation of 10 leaders led by Rahul Gandhi plans to approach the Supreme Court with a petition or memorandum. The government, meanwhile, maintains that the court has found no fault with the SIR exercise.

00:01Hello and welcome. For all our viewers joining in right now, I'm Sonal Merotra Kapoor. This is 5 Live and
00:07what we are seeing on the streets of the National Capital is absolutely unprecedented.
00:11It's day 10 of continuous protests on the streets of the National Capital against the CEC Gyanesh Kumar asking for
00:20his removal.
00:21Today, as we speak, we are getting pictures, ones which are inside the courtroom right over there, as Rahul Gandhi's
00:28legal team has filed a plea in Supreme Court on his behalf.
00:33And while that happens inside the Supreme Court, what's happening outside is a very different visual.
00:40If you look at those visuals as well, you will see that right inside those paperwork being done by the
00:46team, we are told there are about eight petitioners which goes across party lines.
00:51We do not have the names and the exact names of the petitioners just yet.
00:55But Rahul Gandhi, along with several others, is now has reached the Supreme Court, has filed a petition asking for
01:03the removal of the CEC.
01:06Now, while those visuals continue to come to us from inside the Supreme Court, what's happening outside on the streets
01:12is a very different story.
01:13You've got workers of Congress Party and opposition leaders in thousands of numbers marching their way to the Supreme Court.
01:22You've got unity as well within the opposition.
01:26You've got the Samajwadi Party, you see those truck full of leaders over there.
01:30You've got at least three CMs that we counted.
01:34You've got the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh over there.
01:37You've got the Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Revant Reddy.
01:41You've also got Achilles Yadav there.
01:44And we've got several other Congress Party CMs as well.
01:49Now, what exactly is happening?
01:51The march has been called by an all-opposition party and they want to march all the way to the
01:57Supreme Court in a show of strength to file that petition against Gyanesh Kumar.
02:01So, while you look at those visuals, get that view.
02:04Inside the legal processes taking place, outside the streets of the national capitals, continue to be blocked, continue to see
02:11protests for the 10th day running.
02:14Remember, it all started on the 2nd of October and today, on the very 10th day, we are seeing this
02:19happen.
02:19But there is something different about this protest today.
02:22Unlike what we saw over the past weekend at least, where protests were not allowed, where every person who managed,
02:30you know, it could be the Kokoro Chanta Party, it could be other leaders, it could be other, you know,
02:35organizations who came on the roads.
02:37They were picked up, you know, instantly by the police and taken under detention.
02:42Today, we see no such attempt being done, which is an interesting thing.
02:45But let me cut across now, live, to our reporters who have been tracking all the details here for us.
02:52Let me cut across to my colleague, Maria Shaquille.
02:54Now, Maria, it all started at the Constitutional Club.
02:57They managed to hop onto a bus, but now they are back on that bus.
03:01Tell me what's happening.
03:04Yes, that's right.
03:05Let me bring in Gurdeep Sappal now, Congress leader, who has been marching along with the entire leadership of the
03:12India bloc.
03:13This appears to be a point where you will not be able to cross this barricade.
03:17I have seen you march all the way to Kunaat Place and now return, Mr. Sappal.
03:21My question would be, has the petition in the Supreme Court been filed already?
03:26Yes, the petition copy has already reached the Supreme Court.
03:29We are doing this symbolic march to the Supreme Court, raising the voice of millions and millions of people
03:35who believe in democracy and who are not willing to let this democracy slip away.
03:39So, the sense is that the petition has already been filed and now what happens to this protest?
03:45Does it end here and will it be revived perhaps again tomorrow or day after?
03:50No, this is not the end of the protest.
03:51You see, this is not a petitioner Congress that you petition and you sit at home.
03:56Our struggle, our protest, our resistance continues.
03:59It may take days, it may take weeks or months, but this will continue till we get the democracy back
04:05on rails.
04:06The BJP says that the question of democracy only arises when the Congress loses elections,
04:13like you lost in Assam or in India bloc losing in Bengal.
04:17When you win elections, say you won in Kerala or you won in Karnataka, this issue doesn't come up.
04:23Well, the country has moved beyond these logics of BJP.
04:28When people in Maharashtra see that the sentiment on the ground does not match the sentiment of the EVMs.
04:34When the sentiment in Haryana on roads does not match the result.
04:38Various places, we have just seen the by-elections in Bengal,
04:41where the candidates were forced to take back nominations, were jailed.
04:45So this is not a singular thing.
04:47BJP has been trying to get people on its side by the same argument,
04:52fully well ignoring that this time whatever we have been alleging has been found, proven in the files of the
04:59Election Commission itself.
05:00So these are no more allegations.
05:02These are facts which are before the nation.
05:03All right, Mrs. Appal, really appreciate your time.
05:06I'll ask the camera person, Sanjay, to show the kind of deployment which is there.
05:11Increase in number of women police in particular,
05:14as this is the point when the protests actually come to an end.
05:18They are all marching now towards that end point of Bhagwanda's road.
05:23That's where the protests will come to an end for today.
05:26The petition has been filed.
05:28So we can tell our viewers that the petition in the Supreme Court has been submitted.
05:34And that petition actually has the India bloc questioning the entire voting processes
05:41which have unfolded in a number of states,
05:44questioning that entire SIR exercise be scrapped,
05:48because that has actually led to deletion of a number of votes.
05:54We can see now, and I'll ask Sanjay to zoom in and show,
05:58there are Congress workers, NSUI workers who are on top of these buses,
06:03which are all now parked here on this road.
06:06This is the final point where this entire protest ends.
06:09I can see a Batman as well.
06:11What brings you here?
06:13What's your name?
06:15What's your name?
06:16What's your name?
06:17What's your name?
06:18What's your name?
06:18What's your student?
06:20I'm a veteran.
06:21You're a veteran?
06:22Yes.
06:23I've cut the letter of the letter.
06:24I've become a veteran.
06:26Why are you here?
06:27Why are you here?
06:28Why are you here?
06:28Why are you here?
06:28Why are you here?
06:28Why are you here?
06:28Why are you here?
06:30Okay.
06:30So you heard that our students also who are continuing to demand that Gyanesh Kumar must resign.
06:36Look, this is a sustained fight of the Congress party is what the India bloc is suggesting.
06:43You have seen Achillesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi on top of that truck,
06:48where they continue to send a message that the India bloc stays united on this very important issue.
06:58Thus, we now have more details coming in from the Supreme Court.
07:01And this is regarding the petitioners whose name, the eight petitioners' name that have gone to the Supreme Court asking
07:09not just for the ouster,
07:11but a re-look at the SIR exercise as well.
07:14Let's see if we have Maria and Preeti to sort of, you know, get us quick responses on that.
07:18But for our viewers, the eight petitioners whose name, who have petitioned in the Supreme Court asking for the ouster
07:26of the CEC,
07:27also asking for an entire re-look at the SIR exercise as well.
07:31It starts with Rahul Gandhi of the Congress party, has Mr. Kharge of the Congress party as well.
07:36Then it has Sugata Roy.
07:38That is from the TMC.
07:40You've got Achillesh Yadav of the Samajwadi party.
07:43You've got Tejasvi Prasad Yadav of, from Bihar as well, of the R-D over there.
07:51You've got Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena.
07:54Shiv Sena there of Sanjay Raut of, and then M.A. B.B.
07:59M.A. B.B. from the CPI-M, the Communist Party of India Marxist.
08:03And then you've got D. Raja, CPI as well.
08:07So, a whole host of political parties and opposition, you know, who have come together in filing of this petition.
08:15You've got the TMC, you've got the SP, you've got the Shiv Sena Udav Thakere, you've got CPI-M, you've
08:21got CPI as well,
08:23along with the Congress party and the TMC.
08:27Alright, we're getting more reactions.
08:28Let's quickly listen in to that as you continue to watch these live visuals on your screen.
08:34Joining me now as he marches towards the Supreme Court is Senior Advocate and Senior Congress Leader, Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
08:41Dr. Singhvi, what exactly is the petition of the India Bloc leader, sir?
08:46You did not see us marching from the Supreme Court to the end of Karnat Place.
08:50Now we are marching back.
08:52Yes, sir.
08:53We have already filed the petition.
08:54The petition has been filed?
08:56Should have been filed. I was here. I don't know, but should have been filed by now.
08:59It is a petition which seeks the quashing of all the illegal acts, all the bad decisions.
09:07It seeks fairness, a level playing field.
09:10It seeks proper one person, one vote.
09:14And it will be taken up tomorrow.
09:16It seeks contempt, action against the way police has stopped protests, etc., etc.
09:21Dr. Singhvi, the fact is that the Congress is running a sustained campaign against the Chief Election Commissioner.
09:29But the Chief Election Commissioner can be impeached.
09:33The process for removal of the Chief Election Commissioner is essentially an impeachment.
09:37This has nothing to do with impeachment.
09:39This is to deal with the irregularities and illegality of the EC.
09:42And it's questioned.
09:45All right.
09:46Abhishek Manu Singhvi over there telling our colleague Maria Shaquille over there
09:49that this entire petition has been filed, not just against the SIR exercise, which he calls illegal,
09:56also against the high-handedness of the police, also saying it has a mention of the CEC as well.
10:02Now let me cut across to my colleague Preeti Chaudhary now joining us with the very latest on this.
10:07Preeti, we have two confirmations now.
10:09One, that there are eight petitioners, it includes a host of India Bloc Party representatives that have done this.
10:16And while that keeps lawyers busy inside the Supreme Court, what's happening outside is a very different story.
10:23Now that the petition has been filed, we saw Rahul Gandhi flash that we sign, victory sign over there.
10:28What next for the protesters?
10:31Where are they headed?
10:38You know, I'm just standing right now outside the Supreme Court and I'll ask Sachin to give you a ringside
10:44view of what's taking place here.
10:48For once, you know, Sonal, if I can just try and take our viewers through, walk them through on what
10:55has happened through the course of today.
10:57The Congress was very surprised and India Alliance was very, very surprised that the kind of force that was used
11:02by the Delhi police
11:03and other paramilitary forces was not used this time around.
11:07They didn't quite realize that they would be given practically free passage.
11:10And if you can see the kind of crowds that have come in, for someone who's covered the Congress Party
11:16for a while now and other opposition parties,
11:19you know, they would be happy with themselves today.
11:22Because at least I haven't seen the number of even Congress carders on the road that have actually seen today.
11:29So there is a sense within the Congress, we've been speaking to many leaders,
11:33that they think or they feel that at least they've been able to finally energize their own cadre.
11:40Till now, one of the biggest allegations on the Congress was that they couldn't even find it to, you know,
11:47in them to energize their own organization.
11:50For the first time, we've seen multiple arms of the Congress come together,
11:54be it the Sevada, the NSUI, the Women's Wing, and you can see that presence on ground.
11:58So in that sense alone, there will be a sense of satisfaction that the Congress has been able to energize
12:05their own people.
12:05I will also say, Sonal, that the kind of people we've seen today who have joined in this movement,
12:11what Rahul Gandhi calls, from other walks of life, civil society, students who have been protesting in the last couple
12:17of days,
12:19the opposition will take heart in that.
12:21There have been a sizable number that today poured out in the streets of the national capital.
12:25It was yesterday that Rahul Gandhi had given the clarion call that all civil society members, students, the youth should
12:32join in large numbers.
12:33Well, it did, you know, catch resonance with a certain set for sure.
12:38And we did see that presence on ground.
12:40So in that sense, for the Congress and the opposition, it's a good day today.
12:45But let's now go back, because the Cockroach Janta Party, who in today had approached and wanted to approach the
12:53Delhi police
12:54for a 24-hour deadline that they issued them, till the time they got Jantar Mantar as a protest site.
13:01The government in the day today denotified Jantar Mantar as a protest site, giving three more other options.
13:07The closest to Central Delhi, about a kilometre and a half, is Ramlila Maidan.
13:12Ramlila Maidan has Ramlila preparations that are going on right now.
13:16So that pretty much is ruled out where Central Delhi is concerned.
13:19What now?
13:20When you ask on a look ahead, will all these forces actually come together?
13:26That's the question.
13:27When I talk about the Congress, the Cockroach Janta Party, and other opposition parties that continue to protest,
13:32there seems to be back-channel talks, that they all now need to, somewhere down the line, amalgamate and form
13:39a cohesive front together.
13:42This is where a lot of the Congress leaders are also marching in front, right in front of me.
13:47We are keeping our eyes peeled.
13:48Lots of leaders there.
13:50And like I said, now what is the question?
13:54We just saw Rahul Gandhi impromptu address some of his cadre.
13:57There is a sense of great satisfaction.
14:01He will take heart that people showed up, at least from the cadre of his own party and people from
14:08other walks of life as well.
14:10And now what?
14:11Because how does he keep momentum going?
14:13How does the opposition keep momentum going?
14:15They've already announced a slew of agenda-driven exercises, be it at a block level, district level.
14:22But this is their biggest show of strength, muscle-fixing of a different spot,
14:26where they've got all their chief ministers together.
14:28They've got all their district level, you know, Zilla level leaders as well.
14:33From here, where do they go?
14:34I just want to take your attention to some more breaking news that is coming in.
14:38We are now getting news that all the entry and exit gates of all metro stations of New Delhi metro
14:43have also been opened.
14:45We've been noticing, from what the visuals I can see right now,
14:48a stark difference in the way Delhi police has reacted to the protests that happened over the weekend,
14:53which was not political in nature, if one can call it that,
14:57led by Cockroachanta Party and other student bodies,
14:59cut to the one which has been organised by the India bloc.
15:02You're right, they've got a free passage of sorts.
15:05Metro stations have also been opened.
15:07So, one is just really trying to understand what's going on.
15:10Is there a different strategy that the Delhi police,
15:14effectively the Home Ministry has,
15:16when it comes to the CJP,
15:17when it comes to civil society protests,
15:20against what they believe they should be doing,
15:23when the opposition MPs get together,
15:25when the India Alliance gets together.
15:27Is that very, very clear now on the ground?
15:30Because metro stations are open,
15:32people are being allowed to gather,
15:34the numbers that have been managed today,
15:36could not, nobody could fathom,
15:38because people were picked up left, right and centre over the weekend.
15:47You know, Sonal, let's just go back to when Rahul Gandhi had launched a protest,
15:51where he tried to march towards the CEC.
15:53At that time, in itself, a heavy hand was used by the government as well.
15:58If you remember, some of the opposition leaders,
16:01like Maua Moitra, you know,
16:03alleged that they were beaten up by the Delhi police.
16:06So, it's not that the Delhi police did not come down heavily
16:09on the opposition members.
16:11They did at that time.
16:12The last two days, what the national capital has seen,
16:16where, you know, from a clampdown,
16:18that literally led to a crackdown of sorts,
16:21where a lot of people,
16:24correctly saw with their allegations,
16:26called it a police state with what was happening in Delhi.
16:29So, at the back of it,
16:31with the kind of criticism
16:33that has come the way of the Delhi police
16:35and the home, you know,
16:37ministry, it's only yesterday,
16:39where the home secretary
16:40and the Delhi police commissioner
16:43was issued a show cause notice
16:45in terms of a contempt of court
16:47by no one else but the top court of this country.
16:50So, there is, you know,
16:52messaging which was very strong
16:53that came out against
16:55the kind of force that was used in the last two days.
16:58It's unprecedented force.
16:59Many were actually calling
17:00what was going on
17:01on the streets of the national capital,
17:03you know,
17:05labeling Delhi as a police state of sorts.
17:07So, there was criticism.
17:09There was backlash.
17:10There was a contempt of court,
17:12you know,
17:13which directly,
17:14a contempt of court letter
17:15was shot off to the home secretary,
17:18the Delhi police commissioner.
17:19So, you know,
17:20there is a recalibration of sorts.
17:22That has happened.
17:23And that possibly was seen today
17:26where not so much of,
17:27actually no force.
17:29We didn't see like a fraction
17:32of the police force
17:33or paramilitary forces today.
17:35So, yes,
17:36there is recalibration.
17:38Did it come at the back
17:39of the kind of criticism
17:40and blowback of the last two days?
17:42Well,
17:42it could very well be so
17:44because the last time
17:45Rahul Gandhi and the opposition
17:46walked to the CEC
17:47and they did a dharna
17:49at Akashwani Bhawan,
17:51even then,
17:52the police did come down
17:54quite heavily on the opposition.
17:55something we didn't see today.
17:56Preeti, I have another question for you.
17:57I have another question for you.
17:59So far in the protests,
18:01we have not seen the CJP
18:03and Rahul Gandhi together ever.
18:06It could be the protests
18:07during Dharmendra Pradhan's time
18:09or it could be for the CEC.
18:11So far,
18:12we've not seen them together.
18:14This morning,
18:15there was a press conference
18:16by Rahul Gandhi
18:16where he said,
18:17this is Shiv ki Barat.
18:19Anybody and everybody
18:20is welcome.
18:21When you ask the CJP,
18:22they say we are ready
18:23to support the Congress as well.
18:25But how is it
18:26that we have not seen
18:27the two people together
18:28today being such a massive protest?
18:30We see Neha Bhora
18:33of AISA along with Congress.
18:35We see her
18:36right at the first battle line
18:38along with Rahul Gandhi
18:39and Priyanka Gandhi.
18:41A statement being made there
18:42with her presence.
18:43But how is it
18:44that CJP is not here?
18:52You know,
18:53that's an interesting question
18:55and a question
18:55that many people
18:56are raising right now,
18:57Sonal.
18:58Because there is
19:00an inherent distrust
19:01that the Congress
19:02and other leaders
19:03have from the Congress,
19:05it's said,
19:05have against
19:06the Kokhran Janata Party
19:07where they feel
19:08that possibly
19:08it's a front
19:09of the Ahmad B Party
19:10who's a bitter
19:11political rival.
19:12Ahmad B Party
19:13is no longer
19:13a part of India Alliance.
19:14There is inherent
19:16political distrust
19:17of the CJP.
19:18And that was the reason
19:19why in the Jantar Mantar
19:21protest,
19:22Rahul Gandhi
19:22never quite went
19:24on stage
19:24in solidarity.
19:27Pawan Khera
19:27was sent as an emissary
19:28but only to meet
19:29Sonam Wangchuk.
19:30Not so much.
19:31To be a part
19:32of that stage
19:33and in solidarity
19:35with the likes
19:36of Abhijit Dipke,
19:37Saurav Das,
19:37Ashu Kosh Ranka
19:38who spearhead
19:39the Kokhran Janata Party
19:40in Mohul.
19:41So from the Congress's side
19:42there is inherent distrust.
19:44But there's also now
19:46some would suggest
19:47questions that will be
19:48raised on the
19:49Kokhran Janata Party
19:50as well.
19:51On where are the leaders
19:52because this is not
19:53about individuals,
19:54this is not about
19:55one pressure group.
19:58That's how possibly
19:59it will be viewed
20:00in time.
20:00Because if
20:02there are questions
20:03and we were talking
20:04to some people
20:04who support
20:05the Kokhran Janata Party
20:06and there is a question
20:08now coming in
20:08from their supporters
20:09on why they are not
20:10being seen on ground.
20:11When their supporters
20:13yesterday were being
20:14dragged in,
20:15you know,
20:15brute force allegedly
20:17was being used
20:18against them,
20:19there is a question
20:20that is emerging
20:21from their supporters
20:23on why is it
20:24that the top leadership
20:25of the Kokhran Janata Party
20:26couldn't plan better
20:28and be here on ground
20:29instead of just
20:30getting detained.
20:31These questions,
20:32Sonal,
20:33if you remember,
20:34did also arise
20:34at the time
20:35of Janatar Mantar
20:36protest
20:36on when the
20:37crackdown happened
20:38were the top leadership
20:40of the Kokhran Janata Party
20:41actually on ground.
20:43Neha Mora
20:43from the ISA
20:44on the other hand
20:45also because
20:46the left parties
20:47are and ISA
20:48is an offshoot
20:49student group
20:50of left parties
20:51so there is a
20:51natural alliance
20:52with the Congress.
20:53I am told
20:53there is a certain
20:55security increase
20:56that is being seen
20:57at barricades
20:58near Supreme Court
20:59so let me cut across
21:00to Surya now
21:01who is joining us
21:02for more details
21:03on this.
21:03Surya,
21:04like we were discussing
21:05today's protest
21:06is extremely unlike
21:08what we have seen
21:08over the weekend.
21:10The police presence
21:11is negligible
21:12compared to
21:14what we saw
21:15over the weekend.
21:16The vans
21:16which look like
21:17jails are not there.
21:18We do not see them
21:19in full force.
21:21As some have said,
21:22the opposition parties
21:24have been given
21:24a free pass
21:25to just walk
21:26all the way
21:27from Constitution Club
21:29to the Supreme Court
21:30but you are saying
21:31that now there seems
21:32to be some security
21:33walking in.
21:34Take us through
21:35the details
21:35please.
21:41Well, you know
21:42Sonal, I am not
21:43going to mince words.
21:45The police is outnumbered
21:46today.
21:46Since the last two days
21:48we saw
21:48220 plus CRPF
21:50companies on the ground,
21:52more number of booths
21:53than protesters
21:54on the ground
21:55but today's visual
21:56is a stark difference
21:57in the way
21:58Delhi police
21:59is treating
22:00the opposition
22:01India block march
22:02to the Supreme Court.
22:04You can see
22:04senior officials
22:06now
22:06atop the barricade
22:07requesting the crowd
22:09to move
22:10but definitely
22:10just looking
22:12at the sheer number
22:13it is impossible
22:14for the police
22:15to actually contain
22:16this crowd
22:17or stop them
22:18to move forward
22:19to Supreme Court.
22:20Now this is the second
22:22layer of barricade
22:23straight the road
22:24goes to Supreme Court.
22:25The number of crowd
22:26that we are seeing
22:27right now
22:28it is swelling
22:29and only increasing.
22:31This looks like
22:31a law and order
22:32situation right now
22:33and clearly
22:34this is a stark difference
22:35in the way
22:36Delhi police
22:37is handling
22:38a CJP protest
22:39compared to
22:40an India block protest
22:42that we are seeing
22:42on the ground.
22:45Come back with me.
22:47We are now getting news
22:48that the opposition
22:50seems like
22:51they have called
22:52this entire protest
22:54and marched
22:54towards the Supreme Court
22:56a victory.
22:56We have before you
22:58ladies and gentlemen
22:59and everybody
23:00all our viewers
23:00who are joining in
23:01right now
23:02an update.
23:04One is that
23:0511 petitioners
23:07from across
23:07political parties
23:08including the TMC
23:09the SP
23:10the RJD
23:11the NCP
23:13the Shiv Sena
23:14the CPI
23:15the CPM
23:16also
23:17you know
23:18from Kerala
23:19we have members
23:21from the Indian
23:22Indian Union
23:23Muslim League
23:24all of them
23:24some 11 petitioners
23:26who have taken
23:26their plea
23:27and managed to
23:28file a petition
23:29before the Supreme Court.
23:30Abhishek Manu Singh
23:31we are saying
23:32that matter
23:32will be heard
23:33tomorrow
23:33and all of this
23:34is happening
23:35inside the court
23:36while outside
23:37you see
23:39unprecedented
23:39amount of
23:40numbers
23:41of protesters
23:42who have flocked
23:43the streets
23:44of the national capital.
23:45What is happening?
23:46They are making
23:47their way
23:47from Constitution
23:49Club
23:49all the way
23:50to the Supreme Court
23:52and as our reporters
23:53are telling us
23:54unlike over the weekend
23:55today the protesters
23:56have completely
23:58outnumbered
23:59the police
23:59forces on the ground.
24:01This is an interesting
24:01day because
24:02just this morning
24:03the government
24:04has said
24:05that Janatar Mantar
24:06is no longer
24:07the site of the protest
24:09and now
24:09we are getting updates
24:11on what happens
24:12next as well.
24:13Let me cut across
24:13to my colleague
24:14Mariya Shaqeelna
24:15joining us.
24:15Mariya the opposition
24:16united in its cause
24:18both outside
24:19on the streets
24:21also
24:21the petitions
24:22inside the Supreme Court
24:24where is
24:25this protest going?
24:27What's the next
24:27course of action now?
24:35It's very clear
24:36that the opposition
24:37has decided
24:38that this will be
24:38a sustained protest
24:39that it will not
24:41be a one-off-one
24:42remember
24:43every time
24:44there is almost
24:45like a surprise element
24:46which has come in
24:47in this protest
24:47be it Rahul Gandhi
24:49making an effort
24:50to go to
24:51Jantar Mantar
24:52then they went
24:53to Raj Ghat
24:54multiple times
24:56they have been detained
24:57and I am
24:58to give you a sense
24:59of where exactly
25:00we are
25:00this is
25:01next to Mandi Haas
25:02that is the truck
25:04on which you can see
25:05Priyanka Gandhi Vajra
25:06Supriya Sule
25:07and all other leaders
25:09of the Congress Party
25:10Akhilesh
25:11you can see
25:19this is the one
25:21which has
25:21current senior leaders
25:23of these political parties
25:26Let me cut across
25:27to my colleague
25:28Shriya
25:29also who's been
25:30tracking all these details
25:31Shriya
25:32we got an update
25:33with our colleagues
25:34some time ago
25:35that there seems
25:36to be enhanced
25:37security presence
25:38just around
25:39the Supreme Court
25:40around the last
25:41barricade
25:42that stands
25:42between the protesters
25:44and the Supreme Court
25:45as well
25:45take us through
25:46what really is unfolding
25:47there
25:53well you know
25:54the scenes are changing
25:55right now
25:56we can see
25:57the paramilitary forces
25:58are now
25:59coming
26:00and trying to
26:01contain the crowd
26:03this is the second
26:05barricade
26:05that is leading
26:06to the Supreme Court
26:07very chaotic situation
26:09if this is not contained
26:11there could be a law and order
26:13situation that we can see unfold
26:15at this very point
26:16because police are outnumbered
26:18paramilitary forces are trying
26:19to cross the barricade
26:20and go to the protesters
26:22and stop them
26:23but there are no buses
26:25over here to detain them
26:26so that is also something
26:27it will be difficult
26:28how they will contain the crowd
26:30but by the visuals
26:31itself
26:32you can clearly see
26:33that how chaotic
26:34the situation
26:35it is unfolding
26:36at Bhagwan Das Road
26:38if this amount of crowd
26:39is allowed to march forward
26:41to Supreme Court
26:42that is also something
26:43that will be questionable
26:45so clearly
26:46the Delhi police
26:48now using paramilitary
26:49on the ground
26:51trying
26:51asking them
26:53to push the crowd back
26:54but the crowd
26:56is also resisting
26:57and clearly
26:58they are clashing
26:59with the forces
27:00here at Bhagwan Das Road
27:01Shreya
27:02they are saying
27:03that the protesters
27:04have clearly outnumbered
27:06the police forces
27:07meanwhile
27:07what is happening
27:09the leaders of this protest
27:11the India bloc leaders
27:12the petitioners
27:13in this case
27:14are now on top of
27:15a bus
27:16there you see over there
27:17those are visuals
27:18from just a moment ago
27:19now we are told
27:20that ever since
27:21this protest
27:22got closer
27:23and ever since
27:24the petition
27:24actually got registered
27:26with the Supreme Court
27:27the leaders there
27:28have made it into
27:29a victory bus
27:30a victory dance
27:31of sorts
27:32is happening
27:32with the other
27:33opposition leaders
27:34as well
27:35remember
27:35this is unity
27:36being seen
27:37of the India alliance
27:38because the petitioners
27:4011 in number
27:41cut across
27:42different political lines
27:44we have seen
27:45people from the SP
27:46from the TMC
27:48we have seen
27:49from the RJD
27:50we have seen
27:51from CPI
27:53CPM
27:54we have seen
27:55representation
27:55from Kerala
27:58and we have seen
27:59representation
28:00come from Maharashtra
28:01in forms of
28:02NCP and Shiv Sena
28:03as well
28:04so now the opposition
28:05leaders
28:06with the petition
28:07registered inside
28:08the court
28:09outside
28:10are on top
28:11of that bus
28:11now that bus
28:13you can call it
28:14an open truck
28:15really
28:15which is making
28:16its way
28:17continues to make
28:18its way
28:18to the Supreme Court
28:20now remember
28:20it started about
28:21roughly two hours ago
28:23at the Constitution Club
28:24from Constitution Club
28:26they went all the way
28:27almost half way
28:28in their bus
28:29then they had to do
28:30a bit of a padhyatra
28:31and now
28:32they are back
28:33on the bus
28:34we are told
28:34the leaders
28:35are showing
28:36V sign
28:36a victory mark
28:37others waking
28:39into a dance
28:39as well
28:40but let me
28:41cut across
28:42back
28:42to get some
28:43live action
28:44Shreya
28:45could you give me
28:46an understanding
28:47of where the
28:48protest has reached
28:49our colleague
28:51Maria was saying
28:52that somewhere
28:52around Mandi House
28:53is where the
28:55truck of all
28:56the leaders
28:56is
28:57where are you
28:58exactly
28:59and do you see
29:00this protest
29:01going forward
29:02or is this
29:03that they have
29:04realized
29:05that you can't
29:05move forward
29:06and they are
29:07going to stay
29:07around that area
29:18this is the road
29:20that leads to
29:21the Supreme Court
29:22so you can
29:23look around me
29:24it's completely
29:25chaotic
29:25it is jam packed
29:27up until now
29:28the crowd
29:29was outnumbering
29:30the forces
29:31but now
29:32paramilitary
29:33has been called
29:34in
29:34and they are
29:35trying to push
29:35back
29:36the crowd
29:37so that
29:37they cannot
29:38march forward
29:39this is the
29:39second layer
29:40of barricading
29:41the first layer
29:41has already
29:43been breached
29:44and the Delhi
29:45police now
29:46trying to take
29:47control back
29:48here at
29:48Bhagwanda's road
29:49with paramilitary
29:50being deployed
29:51on the ground
29:52more forces
29:53have been pulled
29:54in
29:56Delhi police
29:56does not want
29:57them to be
29:58moving forward
29:59from this very
30:00point
30:00this is a
30:01straight road
30:01to the Supreme
30:02Court
30:03we will have
30:04to wait and
30:04see
30:04because asking
30:05my cameraman
30:06Amit Badwar
30:07to show
30:07the crowd
30:07the crowd
30:08is still
30:08huge
30:09clearly
30:10more than
30:11the boots
30:11on the ground
30:12who is trying
30:13to tackle
30:14and control
30:14the situation
30:15and that's
30:16one of the
30:16reasons we
30:16see these
30:17clashes
30:17that are also
30:18breaking out
30:19between the
30:20protesters
30:20and the
30:21paramilitary
30:21forces in
30:22Delhi police
30:22who are
30:23trying to
30:23contain it
30:25and that
30:26also to my
30:26colleague
30:27Preeti Chaudhary
30:27now who's
30:28outside the
30:28Supreme Court
30:30Preeti if I
30:30were to take
30:31the last
30:31location of
30:32this bus
30:32which what
30:34Maria was
30:34trying to
30:34show to us
30:35before we
30:35lost her
30:36connection
30:36it was around
30:37Mandi house
30:38now if I
30:38if I look
30:40you know map
30:40the area a
30:41little bit
30:41it's roughly
30:42about eight
30:42minutes by
30:43bus but it's
30:44not the
30:44regular route
30:45if you were
30:45to walk
30:46it would take
30:47about 16
30:47minutes
30:48from your
30:49vantage point
30:50where you are
30:51where do you
30:51see this
30:52protest going
30:58well Sonal I
30:59walked it
31:01right from
31:01Mandi house
31:02I walked it
31:02all the way
31:03down Bhagwanda's
31:04road to
31:05Supreme Court
31:05from the
31:06other side
31:06and now I'm
31:07on the other
31:07side so right
31:08up front they've
31:09breached the
31:10first barricade
31:10there are two
31:11barricades left
31:12and you can see
31:13Varun there
31:14right there
31:15and in all
31:16probability
31:16they you know
31:17protesters if they
31:18continue to come
31:19in and at the
31:20speed that they
31:21will come in
31:21you know with
31:22it seems they
31:23could also be
31:24the use of
31:25water cannon
31:25till now there
31:27has been hardly
31:28any use of
31:29force actually
31:30no use of
31:31force at all
31:32they have had a
31:33pretty much free
31:34run and they
31:34have come all
31:35the way here
31:35now they have
31:37breached one
31:37barricade there
31:38are two barricades
31:39left we've seen
31:40bolstering of
31:42paramilitary forces
31:43and even from
31:44Supreme Court I
31:45just saw one
31:46column of rapid
31:48action force
31:48march towards
31:50you know Bhagwan
31:51gas road so I
31:52have been
31:53managed you
31:54know I've come
31:54to the other
31:55side and this
31:56is where you
31:59will see the
32:00congress leaders
32:01and the
32:01indian alliance
32:02leaders coming
32:03in but not
32:04just the
32:05delegation of
32:0611 leaders
32:08right it's a
32:09sea of
32:10protesters that
32:12flank the
32:13buses and the
32:14trucks they were
32:14on and now all
32:16of them marching
32:17in the kind of
32:18show of strength
32:19that we have seen
32:20from the India
32:20alliance has in
32:22the number of
32:23years that I have
32:24covered you know
32:26the opposition
32:27parties is rare
32:28they would be very
32:29happy with that
32:31understandably you
32:32can also see scenes
32:33of jubilation on
32:34ground multiple
32:36barricades here now
32:37being put this is the
32:38fight pretty would it
32:39be fair to say that
32:40this is the strongest
32:41show of strength on
32:43the issue of Ganesh
32:44Kumar that we've seen
32:45from the political
32:46party so far it's day
32:4710 of the protests
32:48remember 2nd of
32:49October is when it
32:50all started would
32:52you say would it be
32:53fair to say that
32:54today what we see on
32:55the streets of
32:56national capital is
32:57the biggest show of
32:58strength
33:04100% you know
33:05100% I wouldn't
33:07deny it and you
33:09can see that on
33:11your television
33:11screen because what
33:12you're just seeing
33:13Maria is about
33:14sorry Sonal is the
33:16fact that not only
33:17various arms of the
33:19congress party that
33:19is the principal
33:20opposition one
33:21allegation that has
33:22always come to the
33:23congress's doorstep is
33:24that they just don't
33:25find it in themselves
33:26to energize their own
33:28cadre they've managed
33:28to do so what we've
33:30seen on ground from
33:31the congress party is
33:32unprecedented in terms
33:34of the Seva Dal
33:34and you mean take no
33:36question state
33:37cadre ship in full
33:39force the chief
33:40ministers yes
33:40so it's go ahead
33:53so you heard the
33:54situation there our
33:56colleagues on the field
33:57there on the ground
33:58reporting this is the
33:59maximum the biggest show
34:01of strength that we've
34:02seen of the India
34:03alliance of the
34:04opposition as well on
34:06the issue of Ganesh
34:07Kumar ever since
34:08remember it's day 10
34:09of that protest that
34:10we continue to bring
34:11you but before we move
34:12on to the rest and do
34:14we have Aishwarya
34:15Paliwal can we go to
34:16that all right Aishwarya
34:17Paliwal also joins us
34:19with the very latest on
34:20the story Aishwarya
34:21take first of all tell
34:22me where you are
34:23exactly and what's
34:24unfolding around you
34:26we see that the
34:27petition which was the
34:28main goal of this
34:29entire protest rally
34:31has been achieved but
34:33the protests continue on
34:34the ground so what's
34:41the motive here well
34:42you know Sonal to
34:43answer your first
34:44question I am on top
34:45of a bus you know
34:46because this is the
34:47best place to be at
34:48we get the most
34:49exciting visuals and
34:50also the way in which
34:52we have seen the
34:52police making sure that
34:54the protesters are
34:55do not climb onto the
34:56barricades this is a
34:58vantage point at the
34:59moment let me tell you
35:00what's behind me the
35:01second layer of the
35:02barricade and that is
35:03something that you are
35:03seeing behind me the
35:05Delhi police in large
35:06numbers right outside
35:07this barricade and the
35:09RAF on the other side
35:10the idea is very very
35:11clear the opposition
35:13leaders will not be
35:14allowed to break this
35:15barricade they were
35:16allowed to break the
35:17first layer of
35:18barricading this is the
35:20second layer of
35:20barricading that you are
35:21seeing and you can see
35:23the number of people
35:24who have turned out
35:25today now these are
35:26people who support
35:27different opposition
35:28parties not just the
35:29congress party you have
35:30people supporting the
35:31Samajwadi party you also
35:33have people supporting the
35:36congress you have people
35:37who support they just
35:38we gather all of them
35:39have now come together
35:41the civil society people
35:43also in large numbers
35:44here so this is the kind
35:46of you know on ground
35:50swell that we are seeing
35:51at the moment for the
35:52opposition party and on
35:54the other side in just a
35:55couple of minutes sonal we
35:56will see that truck passing
35:57by the truck on which the
35:59top leadership of the
36:00opposition party of our
36:01country is a top if you
36:02speak about Rahul Gandhi
36:04he's on that truck Priyanka
36:05Gandhi she's on the truck
36:06Akhilesh Yadav you know
36:08other leaders from the
36:09congress party if you speak
36:10about Gaurav Gugwai he's
36:11there in fact
36:1210 people 10 political
36:15parties plus Rahul Gandhi
36:1711 petitioners in court
36:19right 10 political parties
36:21plus Rahul Gandhi 11
36:23petitioners in court on
36:25ground you see what I was
36:27asking this question to
36:28Preeti let me ask you as
36:29well since you've been
36:30covering the protest is
36:31this the maximum it is the
36:33most massive show of
36:34strength of the opposition
36:35you have seen on the
36:36streets when it comes to
36:38the asking for resignation
36:39of Gyanesh Kumar in the
36:40second leg of protest that
36:41we've seen is this the
36:43most you know numbers in
36:45which we've seen them turn
36:46out
36:57all right not sure if Aishwarya
36:59can hear that question
37:00Aishwarya they're telling
37:03all right Aishwarya there we
37:05are trying to connect with
37:06the reporters it's very very
37:07loud so I can understand if
37:08our voice is not reaching
37:10there but while we try to get
37:11a hang of that so far the
37:14status is that the truck which
37:15has all the leaders is very
37:16close to the Supreme Court and
37:18we have to see what happens
37:19next for the moment let's
37:20take you through all the
37:20reactions that have come in
37:22from the front
37:30you are walking along with other
37:33leaders what exactly is the
37:35demand sir our demand should be a
37:38repol dismissal of that election
37:51you are demanding that the CEC Mr. Gyanesh
37:54Kumar be dismissed yes of course he
37:56has to be dismissed repol has to be
37:58organized in all those states where
38:01they have won through FCR but Mr. D.K.
38:03Shiv Kumar the congress part the BJP says
38:06that you raise the issue of vote
38:08Tory only when you lose elections but
38:10in the states such as Karnataka or in
38:12Kerala when you have won elections you
38:14don't say that in spite of their vote
38:17Tory our people have given us a mandate
38:22walking on the streets are you happy the
38:23kind of turnout you've seen there's a
38:25massive turnout and it's full of India
38:28alliance all the colleagues are there
38:30and the march is a positive march and
38:33it shows the mind of every youth and
38:37every woman and every student of this
38:42country and the India alliance is
38:45united and we are standing together on a
38:47important day in the history of India
38:49all right sir good luck thank you for
38:52joining us walking on your way in
38:55protest in solidarity are you happy with
38:57the kind of crowds that have come in
38:59well actually I've been happy with the
39:00crowds of the last two months were under
39:03water for the first time we've seen the
39:05kind of crowds that have come in for
39:06your call you made that call yesterday
39:08asking for civil society students
39:10youth right right yeah no that's
39:12encouraging but please remember you
39:14know my sense of satisfaction comes from
39:16a fact that both the issues in which
39:18most of India is agitated are both
39:20something that Mr. Gandhi personally
39:21raised and you know and for me to look
39:24at it politically I'm not particularly
39:26concerned as to who leads the protests
39:27on the streets it's who ideates it
39:30it's really something that he brought
39:32out he convinced Indians who are not
39:34convinced that there was something
39:35dastardly wrong going on and I think
39:37people have kind of thought about that
39:39accepted it taken it as their own idea
39:41and I think if you really ask especially
39:43young people of India I don't think
39:45they are worried under whose banner they
39:47are they are under the banner of
39:48reclaiming their nation there have been
39:50constant you know two press conferences
39:52back-to-back from the Bharatiya
39:54Janata party we had Anurag Thakur who just
39:57spoke earlier on senior BJP leader
39:59Shivarad Singh Chauhan just spoke
40:01basically suggesting that you're
40:03playing into a foreign hand to try and
40:07instill anarchy on the streets of the
40:09national capital in the country you know
40:12I don't want to belittle what the
40:13government said but I almost want to
40:15say yawn I think I've heard about this
40:17just too many times you sorry I mean
40:19there's a particular expression in
40:21English saying yawn it's really that and
40:23my thing is you are the government you're
40:25not only the government you claim that
40:26you have perhaps the world's most
40:27popular leader as your prime minister
40:29every nation in the country bows to you
40:32in fact they're scared of you so find
40:34out who's supporting us if you're
40:36thinking that such large leaders are
40:38doing something anti-national they
40:39should not be allowed on the streets
40:41fair point sir good luck
40:43Mumtaz Patel interesting choice of
40:46color well it could mean a lot of
40:48things and also probably for my own
40:51safety and protection we saw the
40:52bhajrandal goons and the anti-social
40:56elements out on the streets yesterday
40:57who obey be not being detained by the
41:00way media journalists were being
41:01detained lawyers were being detained
41:02public was being detained but those
41:05goons were all allowed to unleash their
41:07violence on the streets on innocent
41:09people so yeah I mean what is going on
41:13and all I can say is that this
41:15government knows that its days are
41:17numbered they're trying very hard very
41:20hard to protect one man Gyanesh Kumar
41:22why why is the BJP trying so hard and
41:26also unleashing the kind of violence it
41:28is via the police and security on its
41:31own citizens what is the fear about I
41:33don't understand but miss Patel were you
41:36surprised that today the kind of police
41:38presence or other you know forces are
41:41not there in as much strength in
41:43numbers the supreme court did did give out
41:46instructions yesterday that barricades
41:48cannot be put unnecessarily people
41:51cannot be detained yesterday we didn't
41:53see them following the supreme court
41:55orders but hopefully hopefully today
41:57things might be better but we wouldn't
41:59still be surprised the police has some
42:02action plan after some time we we can
42:05see that Rahul ji is now marching on the
42:07road we're all together and this is just
42:09the beginning this is going to carry on now
42:12until and unless Gyanesh Kumar resigns and
42:15after Gyanesh Kumar resigns this
42:16government will also fall I want to ask
42:19you one quick question the last question
42:20there have been two press conferences the
42:22government has taken a clear hard stand
42:24this time Shivrat Singh Chauhan a short
42:27while ago and Anurag Thakur right now has
42:31practically said that there this is a
42:32foreign hand which the Congress is
42:34playing into to create anarchy on the
42:37streets of the country foreign hand and
42:39communal tension the easiest excuses this
42:42government has they'll play on
42:44hyper nationalism and communalism and
42:46very soon we might not be surprised if
42:48there's a call out for some war or some
42:50terror incident happens so that the whole
42:51narrative can be diverted these are very
42:54old tactics by the BJP government it
42:56worked probably from 2014 up till even a
42:59few years ago but now the government that
43:01now the public is very well aware that
43:03these are just diversionary tactics they're
43:06not going to fall for it which is why you
43:07are seeing now that it's not just the
43:09opposition but there is public from all
43:11across the country that is protesting for
43:13on this issue and many other issues thank
43:16you miss Patel for joining us thank you
43:18all right for our viewers joining in it's
43:205 38 by the clock it's been a little over
43:23three hours since the opposition protest
43:25started from Constitution Club there is
43:27now a truck on which the opposition MPs in
43:31fact the leaders of at least 10 political
43:34parties are on top of and they are making
43:37their way marching towards the Supreme
43:39Court the aim of this entire protest was to
43:42get the petition registered which by the
43:44way they've managed to achieve 10 political
43:46parties plus Rahul Gandhi 10 plus 1 is the
43:48formula at the moment which has been that
43:51petition has been taken in by the Supreme
43:53Court you just heard Abhishek Manu Singhvi
43:55saying that the matter is likely to be heard
43:58tomorrow also what our reporters are telling
44:00us what you see today on the 10th day of
44:02continuous protest asking for the ouster of
44:05the CEC the massive show of strength the
44:08biggest show of strength so far but in all
44:11of this political you know protests that you
44:14see the CJP is missing they are not to be
44:16seen but let's cut across back live and get
44:19a ground sense Preeti Chaudhary continues to
44:21be with us Preeti at the moment the
44:25protesters the opposition parties the aim and
44:29agenda for the day has been achieved they've
44:32managed to get the petition but the show of
44:34strength speaks of a different political
44:37game plan take us through what likely is to
44:40happen next as they approach the Supreme Court
44:48well I'll just tell you I'm at the final barricade and if you see right here this is the rapid
44:53action
44:53forces Varun and this is the water cannon here placed right here then there's a four
45:01tier barricade on the other side that you can see so this is the final
45:06barricade they've breached one barricade there are two barricades left also what is happening so now is a bit of
45:12protest you may call it people coming in solidarity some just inquisitive of
45:18what's going on but a lot of people are flocking here let me try and get in some reactions of
45:25people who have just you know it's things are getting a little heated so I'm quite surprised that we see
45:31people where are you from BAM we are from Delhi only you've just come here no no we were holding
45:37our exhibition here so we just come out and we've got the chance to come here and we are very
45:43happy to support them
45:45come to support the process you understand it can get a little heated up there's a Varun right there there
45:51can be water cannons yeah yeah with that protection we don't mind that you know means if it is there
45:58but the whole point is what they've we want to give them strength and josh and
46:04the family your name Maronto ma'am you're mastermind ma'am you are also here in support
46:08So are you in supportoblm 91 guystini or car is anything for your vaccine ma'am you are also here
46:08in support and support absolutely
46:09why what is his
46:10what is your what what is고한테 that has made you come here and stand at the final
46:15The movement that they are doing we believe in it and I guess we are much
46:20older so we cannot be there but we can just give them strength so they're
46:24just standing here we walking to there but you're just standing here we walk to there they didn't allow us
46:27we have it
46:30them. Are you affiliated to any political party? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
46:35political. Individuals who just have come here and we are waiting, we've been waiting for the
46:41whole day, waiting for him. You've been standing here? Yes. No, he's got here for 18, three, four
46:47hours and we went back and we have come again. Come again. And he gave us permission to walk
46:52right till there. So we walked. I would suggest, ma'am, I understand, be very careful, things will
46:56get heated very quickly. So, yeah, so I suggest you move very quickly, but be safe. If you are not
47:04scared, then why are you making us scared? Sorry. Okay, sorry. No, I'm used to it. I'm not making
47:09you scared. Don't make us scared. Because the josh what we are giving them, the josh, they will give it
47:14to us. Okay. Because they're, whatever they want to do. You like Rahul Gandhi there? No, we don't
47:21like anyone. You don't like anyone? No, it's not. We like, but what he's doing, we like.
47:27The protesters are joining in and saying that they're liking the josh on the ground. But while
47:33that happens, there continues to be protests happening from the side of the BJP as well.
47:38That happened earlier in the day. Let's take you through some of the reactions from then.
47:42Okay.
47:47Okay.
47:54foreign
47:56foreign
48:18All right, meanwhile, while the protests against the CEC take over the national capital,
48:22earlier in the day, the BJP also protested.
48:24This is after a massive slugfest was underway over the Congress MP, Bimol Ajoyjan.
48:29After, he was sacked as JNU professor after allegations of sexual harassment.
48:34The BJP staged a protest against the Congress MP,
48:37burnt effigies of him along with Rahul Gandhi and also demanded action against Bimol.
48:42The Congress hit back, calling the BJP protest a diversionary tactic
48:47to deflect attention from the opposition protest against the CEC, Gyanesh Kumar.
48:51Here's how it unfolded.
49:17Showdown over Congress MP, Bimol Ajoyjan.
49:26The parliamentarian was recently sacked as JNU professor over allegations of sexual harassment.
49:39The BJP came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi over the charges against Okoyejam
49:45and held a protest outside the Grand Old Party's headquarters on Monday.
49:54Women MPs of BJP led the charge.
49:58The protesters burned effigies of Rahul Gandhi and Okoyejam.
50:02Many workers and MPs of BJP are hitting this effigy.
50:07Protest versus protest, that's what is now unfolding on the streets of Delhi.
50:11Right now, I am present at a DGU mark right in front of Congress headquarters, Indra Bhavan,
50:17where women workers and MPs have reached here in large number.
50:21You can also see as to how they are holding different placards, demanding that Rahul Gandhi
50:26must apologize.
50:28He should ensure that Bimol Angom Chahu is the MP of Congress Party from Manipur.
50:34He should face the actions.
50:36He should be sacked.
51:03The party's Mahila Morcha protested in Bengaluru over the same issue.
51:10B.J.P. Mahila Morcha is protesting here in Bengaluru, trying to march towards the Congress
51:15office, and they want to get out of the Congress office, demanding justice.
51:19As you can see, they've got a poster saying,
51:21Swapakshada Sansada, Laihingi Ka Daurjanya.
51:23This is regarding the JNU professor, who's also the Congress MP, who's been accused of having
51:32a case that has been suspended recently.
51:36The Congress called the protest a diversionary tactic to deflect attention from the opposition
51:42protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
52:02Meanwhile, the Delhi police filed an FIR against Okoyi Jam.
52:06The MP is accused of making sexual advances towards students, demanding sexual favours,
52:14showing porn against students' will, and making sexually offensive remarks.
52:20The FIR against Okoyi Jam has come as an embarrassment for the Congress when its own leader Rahul Gandhi
52:27has been running a campaign to smash the patriarchy.
52:31The Congress, which has not acted against its MP, is now being accused of double standards.
52:40With Maria Shaqeel, Biyush Mishra and Nagarjun Dwarkanath, Bureau Report, India Today.
