मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त ज्ञानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे और वोट चोरी के आरोपों को लेकर INDIA गठबंधन के सांसदों का विरोध प्रदर्शन हिंसक मोड़ पर पहुंच गया। कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी और प्रियंका गांधी वाड्रा की अगुवाई में लगभग 300 सांसदों ने जंतर-मंतर की ओर मार्च किया।
पुलिस द्वारा रोके जाने पर जंतर-मंतर के पास तनाव बढ़ गया। अस्वस्थ महसूस करने और पुलिसिया कार्रवाई के विरोध में प्रियंका गांधी सड़क पर ही लेट गईं, जिन्हें बाद में महिला पुलिस ने हिरासत में लिया। वहीं, राहुल गांधी को भी दिल्ली पुलिस ने सड़क से उठाकर हिरासत में ले लिया और बस में बिठा दिया।
The protest by INDIA bloc MPs demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of vote theft escalated into high drama. Led by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, around 300 MPs marched toward Jantar Mantar.
Tension flared near Jantar Mantar as police halted the rally. In protest against the police action, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sat on the road before being taken into custody by women officers. Meanwhile, Delhi Police physically removed Rahul Gandhi from the spot and boarded him into a police bus. Inside custody, Rahul Gandhi rejected Gyanesh Kumar's legitimacy as CEC, declaring that the 45 FIRs against him serve as medals.
