The opposition INDIA bloc has finalised plans to conduct a public impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. The event was shifted after venue permissions at Hotel Ashoka were denied due to police restrictions. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will preside over the proceedings, while Mallikarjun Kharge is set to move the notice of impeachment. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will deliver the concluding address, alongside presentations by civil society representatives and victims of the Special Intensive Revision process. Organisers clarified that the proceeding is a representative impeachment structured with parliamentary verticals rather than a mock parliament. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi released a video urging citizens to join the Chalo Delhi march on 1 November to protect the Constitution and democracy, even as local traders appealed for the demonstration's postponement due to the festive season. The Bharatiya Janata Party has countered the planned march with its own demonstrations across the capital.
