00:00The political battle over the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls
00:06are what the Congress Party and the opposition call is vote-chory.
00:11This battle has now moved from Sansat to Sadak and to the Supreme Court.
00:17Eleven opposition India Bloc leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallika Arjun Kargay,
00:24have now moved the Supreme Court.
00:26These are the images that you see on your television screen.
00:29They are now seeking supreme intervention.
00:33That's right, they're seeking Supreme Court's intervention to invalidate the entire SIR process.
00:41The special intensive revision of electoral rolls should be declared illegal and invalid is their demand.
00:48But there's a question that's been put to them.
00:51Can the opposition turn allegation of vote-chory into a legal case without evidence?
00:59Or vote-chory?
01:00And that's the question that the Bharatiya Janata Party has put to the Congress Party.
01:06In fact, Rahul Gandhi himself spoke of President Draupadi Murmu seeking evidence when they went and met her.
01:14When 10 members of parliament submitted a memorandum to her.
01:19So the opposition's attempts to meet the Chief Justice of India did not succeed.
01:24Chief Justice of India, Surya Khan, he made it very clear that the issue is being addressed.
01:30It is before the court and any meeting at this stage with opposition leaders would violate judicial propriety and the
01:38separation of powers.
01:40His message was clear.
01:41Use the legal route.
01:44There are remedies that are available.
01:46There are routes that are available.
01:48That's the route to take and not political delegations to meet the CGI.
01:53Rahul Gandhi has accused the Narendra Modi government of protecting the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
01:58And he's called this entire process of SIR an assault on free and fair elections in India.
02:06He said President of India sought proof of vote-chory during their meeting and said he would submit proof that
02:15he claimed he's had multiple times in the past.
02:18Now BJP has dismissed his charges as baseless.
02:21They've accused him of blaming institutions for electoral defeat, election after election, state after state, year after year.
02:30They've branded Rahul Gandhi a Hava Hawaii Neta.
02:34The government has accused him of making baseless allegations against constitutional institutions.
02:39Meanwhile, there's now another confrontation that's brewing on the streets of Delhi.
02:43The Kaukrut Janta Party, the CJP says it sought permission to carry out a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar.
02:51And they've now given the government a 24-hour ultimatum.
02:55Either that permission should be granted or the onus is on the government.
02:59But the Delhi police insists that's not possible.
03:04Jantar Mantar has now been denotified as a protest site.
03:07There are three other sites that have been designated as protest sites.
03:12The Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a plea challenging this move tomorrow.
03:16So from the Supreme Court to the streets of Delhi, the political battle over SIR is widening,
03:21the opposition demanding accountability, the BJP questioning the motives,
03:26going to the extent of saying that there are foreign forces at play here.
03:30But ultimately, it's for courts of law to decide.
03:34And this battle has now moved to the Supreme Court of India.
04:02New day, same political showdown.
04:09The India block, led by Rahul Gandhi, marched towards the Supreme Court on Monday,
04:15targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities
04:20in the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls.
04:26Rahul Gandhi was joined by opposition leaders including Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party
04:31and Tejasvi Yadav of the RJD, Supriya Sule of the NCP Sharad Pawar
04:38and Saugata Roy of the TMC demanding accountability from the Election Commission.
04:45This has nothing to do with impeachment.
04:48This is to deal with the irregularities and illegality of the EC and its caution.
04:52It shows the mind of every youth and every woman and every student of this country.
05:02And the India alliance is united and we are standing together on an important day in the history of India.
05:08Before the march, Rahul Gandhi described the mobilization as Shivji's Bharat renewing his demand for the CEC's resignation.
05:45The opposition,
05:47the opposition demanded accountability.
05:50The opposition demanded accountability.
06:06But India block's bid to meet CJI's Suryakant hit a roadblock.
06:13The Chief Justice of India declined a request to meet the opposition delegation pointing to established legal remedies.
06:43which will be made of the opposition.
06:46The opposition, the opposition, which will be made of the opposition.
06:48Amidst the showdown, BJP launched a sharp counter-attack, calling Rahul Gandhi a Hawa Hawa Neta, who continues to make
06:58baseless allegations.
06:59What I have to say to the government and to the people of India, I say from here.
07:03The views of the leaders of the Party of fight against the opposition,
07:09are killed in the nation's communities.
07:14The political community will be the highest of the people of the war.
07:17The party of the party will die in the nation's leadership.
07:48Meanwhile, the Delhi police scrapped Jantar Mantar's designation as a designated protest
07:54site.
07:56Ramlila Meidan, Buradi ground in East Delhi are the alternate protest sites now.
08:06And the street war has escalated.
08:10BJP women workers targeted the Congress over its smash-the-patriarchy stance, raising sexual
08:17harassment allegations against Congress MP, Bimal, Akhoi Jam by JNU students.
08:43It's protest versus protest and from Sansad and then Sadak to now the Supreme Court.
08:52The opposition is escalating its fight against the CEC.
08:58One side alleges vote chori, the other cries political vendetta.
09:03And with neither side showing signs of backing down, the showdown is all set to escalate.
