00:00All right, guys, that sucked. I'm not going to lie to you. That really, really sucked.
00:04No part of that three and a half, four hour, however long we had to sit through that four
00:09was enjoyable. At no point was I having fun watching Cleveland Browns football. At no point
00:14was it exciting or interesting Cleveland Browns football. Good evening, everybody. It's Anthony
00:19Alant on the fan final call, your last opportunity to get your thoughts off on what turned into just
00:25an ugly, sloppy, wet mess over at MetLife Stadium. Your Cleveland Browns falling to the New
00:31York Jets and now falling to three and two on the season. I already see some folks on
00:37hold. We're going to get into everything, the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly. But
00:42I guess we got to start off with the fact that you had 10 days off. You had all the
00:46momentum
00:46coming into a team that just got the doors blown off of them a week ago against the Chicago
00:52Bears. Geno Smith is terrible. The team is terrible. They don't have Brees Hall. Aaron
00:58Glenn is already fielding questions about his job security. All this sort of, you know,
01:03noise outside the actual field of play. That's what you lead into with. And everything for
01:10the Browns is going incredibly well. You have an emotional win last Thursday night against
01:16the Steelers, packed home crowd, all the rest of it. Everything was setting up for you to
01:22be perfectly good to go. Perfectly, you know, ready for a four and one start heading into
01:29that game against the Baltimore Ravens next week. And now you're in a situation where after
01:33you threw up a clunker of all clunkers, you might be three and three and right back down
01:38to 500 after next Sunday. I know that Lamar Jackson is not playing today, but if so, we'll
01:44see what his health status is next week. But I mean, the Ravens are a team that you don't
01:49play well against consistently because they're a well-run team. And you know, now you're in
01:54a situation where after just an awful, awful, awful showing, you might right be back down
02:01to the water level at three and three. I, I think I'm most upset at the fact that because
02:06you had all this preparation coming into this thing, you had ample amount of time to get
02:11things fixed. And I know that there was a ton of rain and I know that you were working
02:15without some key players, Mike Hall Jr., Mason Graham. Then throughout the course of the
02:20game, you lose your right tackle and you lose Casey Concepcion. We're going to get into that
02:25hit and everything with Micah Fitzpatrick, Micah Fitzpatrick, because you know, we can't
02:31seem to avoid this dude. So I get that there was a lot not going your way. And even your
02:37quarterback
02:37who you don't trust fully, but you feel like you can trust enough to win your ball games when
02:42it matters because you've seen it three times this season. He's not doing enough for you.
02:48I know that there was a lot going on that was working against you, but it's not like you
02:53were playing some world beater team. You had every opportunity today to put your pedal to
03:00the metal and like get, build a little bit of a lead, build any sort of lead and not get
03:06to the point where that field goal by Andre Schmidt, that he ends up missing a first missed field
03:11goal since week one of last year when he was trying to win the ball game for us. And then
03:15we lost the bangles. You don't put yourself in a spot where that is amplified. And that's
03:20like the difference between whether or not the game is won or lost. This is entirely on
03:27Todd Munkin. This is entirely on a terrible offense. This is entirely on guys like Isaiah
03:33Bond and DeJuan Jones who looked unplayable today and who I have zero faith in moving forward
03:39at this point. You had every chance to win today. And that is what's so frustrating.
03:45Like at the end of the day, I am interested to see if people aren't as mad as they would
03:50be after Brown's loss, because yeah, we've been treated to a really, really good start
03:54to the year. Three and one now three and two. Hey, if, if people at the beginning of the
03:59season were to say after five weeks, you would be three and two heading into the Ravens game
04:04with a hobbled Lamar Jackson, everybody would sign up for that because you're still ahead
04:09of the mark. You're seem like you're ahead of schedule, but today, today was a blast from
04:13the past and not in a good way. Today was a throwback game to the worst of Kevin Stefanski
04:19to the worst of Freddie kitchens and Hugh Jackson. That was horrifically managed. It was horrifically
04:26played. You didn't, you didn't even get outplayed by the jets. You just were not taking advantage
04:32of anything that they were giving you. The jets were playing undisciplined. They were so penalty
04:38riddled all throughout the game today. There was every chance for you to build a sizable
04:44lead. And again, not get into the situation where your own miscues down you further and
04:50further and further. I don't know how much the rain plays into everything, but at the end
04:55of the day, man, you got to figure out a way to win a football game, especially against
04:59a one in four jets team. That is bad, bad, like not good. Okay. Congratulations. They
05:05beat you today. So at this point, they're better than you, but that is not a good team
05:10over there that you were facing. And it doesn't give you a lot of confidence moving forward
05:15as to like what this team is going to be through five weeks in the season. I don't know what
05:21we have. I know for a fact that we don't have a great quarterback. Deshaun Watson didn't
05:26play great today. He didn't play terribly and we can kind of get into that. He was not
05:31put in a good situation whatsoever, but I know that he's not going to be some world
05:36beating quarterback. And I know that whoever they turn to, whether it's Dylan Gabriel,
05:40Taylor green, or Shador Sanders at some point that they're not going to be all that much
05:44better. So I know that for a fact, I know that my defense is going to continue to play
05:50out of their minds. After that week one clunker, they have turned the light switches
05:55turned on and whether or not Jared versus getting sacks, whether or not Mason Graham
05:59and Mike Hall jr. Are out there, this is a stalwart top five defense in the league
06:04right now. Those are the two things that I know for sure about this team, but you've
06:10had a game like today and a game like in week one against the Jaguars where it was
06:15unplayable, unwatchable, not fun. And they look further away from anything that is being
06:22built like any good thing that's being built under Todd Munkin. And they looked a lot like
06:28the last two seasons that we've watched the five and the three wins teams. And then I've
06:32also seen this team win three games and do it in pretty exciting fashion. I've seen Deshaun
06:39Watson when it's crunch time in the final drive, go down the field and score.
06:45So I don't know what we are looking at yet. I, maybe this is just a young team that is
06:51manned by a quarterback that hasn't played in two seasons. And you're going to have to
06:55ride the highs and lows with that. That's much better than just a out and out bad football
07:01team, right? This is not the Miami dolphins where we might be competitive for a couple
07:06of games, but at the end of the day, they're going to lose. There is a lot of talent on
07:10this
07:10team and there's a lot of good to be excited about all across the board. But today,
07:14was as bad as you could imagine for the entire operation, all of the questions we were been
07:22able to put out of our mind for the last three weeks here, while they've been winning games
07:26and it's been champagne pop in celebration music going on in the post-game locker room,
07:32we've gotten to kind of hold off on the, whether or not Deshaun Watson really is a guy that we
07:37can trust for a 17 game season, whether or not Jared verse was the right answer in a miles
07:43Garrett trade. All those questions come back today. Now you have every opportunity to come
07:48back next week and put yourself in a great spot. And all of a sudden you're four and two,
07:53and it just is what it is. But there's a lot of deep seated stuff on in this team. And
08:00like
08:01that you saw today come out that doesn't make you feel as confident as you have been over these last
08:08three weeks. Again, that is what is so frustrating is that, you know, or at least you believe that this
08:14team is capable of winning games, stacking wins, building wins, and you had a perfect opportunity
08:20to do so this afternoon. And instead you played like it was the first time that everybody had played
08:27together. So there's a lot of stuff to kind of take away negatively from this. I mean, honestly,
08:35like we knew going in that the defense was going to be good. Okay. So they were good once again.
08:39And again, you weren't with my call junior or, or Mason Graham. I still have so many questions about
08:48if this offense is sustainable and a game like today just gives you more evidence that it probably
08:54isn't. And I don't even know who to blame today because the blame goes everywhere. The play calling
08:59was stale. I was bored out of my mind watching the offense. Deshaun Watson, when he was on the move,
09:05wasn't exactly that accurate. He wasn't playing like we've seen him over these last couple of weeks.
09:11He didn't play bad. I know that that last, whatever in the Lord above that he did on that final
09:19play of
09:19the game. I have no earthly idea. He's lucky that Jaden Daniels forgot that they didn't have a timeout
09:25in overtime and slid down and let the clock expire because what Deshaun Watson did at the final play of
09:30the
09:30game was probably one of the most embarrassing things that we've seen at the very least get a damn pass
09:35off. But he also wasn't put in a good spot to succeed. This offensive line today in week five, again,
09:43after 10 days off where you had every chance to fix some of the mistakes that were going on and
09:49you
09:49don't need them to play perfect, but they were, I mean, they were playing like turnstiles today.
09:54Titus Howard hasn't been exactly great as a right tackle, but when you are calling, when you,
10:00when he goes down and the backup makes you hope and wish that Titus Howard comes back out there,
10:06that's bad stuff. DeJuan Jones was awful today and he was eaten up by that rookie in David Bailey,
10:12who has been pretty absent all season. They were talking about a lot on the broadcast and it
10:18wasn't just him. Spencer Fauna wasn't that good. The interior wasn't that good. And Deshaun Watson
10:23was running for his life consistently. And for a guy that's coming off too straight to Achilles tears
10:28this off season, you're putting him in a horrific spot to try and succeed and build an offense. So I
10:35can
10:35sit here and complain about how they didn't, you know, stack points and stack drives that ended in
10:42field goals and touchdowns and all that stuff. He was not put in any sort of good situation.
10:48And that, that was what was very frustrating. And then when he finally did get the ball off,
10:52if he did actually hit the guy in the hands, it was Isaiah bond dropping the ball. It was Denzel
10:57Boston getting covered really, really tightly. It was, well, I would say Jerry Judy, but I don't even
11:02know if he looked at him today. And then Harold fan and got like one pass at the end of
11:06the game.
11:07And it was for like, what, four yards in that final play, final drive. So it's just an out and
11:13out, awful, awful, damper day, damper game. It was just terrible.
