00:00Yes, Trent Alexander-Arnold has given England manager Thomas Tuchel plenty to think about after his recent performances in the
00:08England set-up.
00:09The Real Madrid full-back returned to the squad after missing out on the World Cup team and made an
00:16immediate impact for the three Lions, providing an assist for Anthony Gordon in his first game back in England's 2
00:24-0 win over Czechia in Prague.
00:26He was then recalled for the return fixture at Wembley, helping England to another comfortable victory as well.
00:35Tuchel had initially described Alexander-Arnold's recall as an opportunity after a positive start to the season with Real Madrid.
00:45The defender appears to have taken that opportunity with both hands, offering England his trademark passing range and ability to
00:53create chances from deep.
00:56However, keeping his place will not be straightforward. Rhys James is set to come back into the fold, as well
01:03as Tino Livramento and Jed Spence, who is one of the standout players for England at the World Cup.
01:10Jarrell Kwanza has also impressed at right-back, also a former Liverpool player as well.
01:15Tuchel has previously indicated that several of those players were ahead of Alexander-Arnold in the pecking order, but his
01:24late form could make a difference.
01:27Here's what Thomas Tuchel had to say about increasing the amount of technical players in England's squad.
01:34Yeah, of course, we want to give them a structure and we want to give a structure where they feel
01:38themselves, where they can express themselves, but it has to be in a structure.
01:42We cannot just throw a ball in and let them play, but we have a shift in how we approach
01:49training and we had a shift in how we approach the game.
01:52So, yeah, there were slight tweaks in the positioning of our players. Jude plays closer to Harry, for example, and
02:00there were some other tweaks.
02:02We attack with the full-backs and don't want to give everything away, but there are some slight adjustments that
02:09first of all suit into the quality of the players,
02:15and to the characteristics of the players, and how the team wants to move forward and how the team wants
02:20to take the next steps.
02:21So, this is what we try to do. We try to build football teams and the more time we have,
02:27the easier it is because we can repeat stuff, we can debrief,
02:30we can have a review of matches, of training sessions that just gave us a bit of more time and
02:36overall the commitment.
02:37That's why I love this group of players and I always loved being a coach in England in the Premier
02:45League and now as a national team coach.
02:47The players' attitude and commitment is just on the very highest level and that's why I'm happy that they could
02:54prove it
02:55and that we could show these next steps. It was very good.
