00:00Atlanta, one. Dodgers, one. Glass now taking on Tyler Molle. Actually, pretty good game here.
00:061-1, bottom of the third. Yankees taking on Tampa, and that'll follow up with a little
00:11late-night Padres taking on the Brewers here. General Neri alongside Craig Mish, and the
00:18playoffs have been not exactly crushing. I saw some of the numbers. We're talking about one of
00:28the lowest batting averages collectively in the postseason in a very, very long time.
00:36We've talked all these games, six and a half, seven as far as total goes. This White Sox game,
00:44though, that's up and over there with 10 runs, but I don't know, just an anomaly? Does it shock you
00:50that we're, I mean, collectively, we're hitting 209 in the postseason teams are? No, it doesn't
00:57shock me, and, you know, the postseason is still going to be great, and the playoffs will be great,
01:04and the World Series will be great, but there's, Joe, there's a legitimate problem going on right
01:09now in baseball, and the problem is is that the pitching is incredible, and no pitcher needs to
01:14go four or five innings because the next guy you bring in throws 100, and the guy that you bring
01:18in after that throws 100, and the guy that you bring in after that throws 100, and nobody can hit
01:22the
01:22ball, and this is from the youth level on up. Pitching is just too good, so I don't know how
01:29they change things, Joe, but there's got to be a change coming. This can't continue. The sport has
01:34to rely on the long ball. Pitching is great, and you want to have good pitching, but, Joe, it's just
01:40been, it's too difficult now to hit some of these guys, like, you know, Mizorowski, and Mizorowski, Joe,
01:47is an outlier for now, but in two years from now, there's going to be two more Mizorowskis that are
01:53going to throw 100, 300, 400 miles an hour, so, Joe, I don't know the answer. I don't know how
01:58they
01:58combat this, but all-time low in batting average, and all-time low in on-base percentage, and all-time
02:03low. A guy has an 800 OPS. He used to go, oh, that's pretty good. Now it's like, wow, 800
02:08OPS,
02:08that's fantastic. Like, it used to be like 1,000. Now it's like 800, and I don't know where we're
02:15headed with all this, but at the youth level, it's chasing velocity, and, you know, 15 years old,
02:2116 years old, do you throw 80, do you throw 90? If not, you don't get a D1 anymore. It's,
02:26I see it
02:26with my son all the time, with the travel ball that he has played, and that's where it's began,
02:31and now it's gone all the way up to the major leagues with driveline and analytics and everything
02:35else. If you can throw an off-speed pitch that nobody can hit, and it looks exactly like a fastball,
02:42then you're going to throw a lot of off-speed pitches, and the game now sees, outside of a
02:47few pitchers, all off-speed pitches, because it looks the same, and it does something different,
02:52and as the eye, the trained eye, it's impossible to lay off that. So, you know, I've heard different
02:58rumors of things that they may try in the future. I don't know if any of them will come to
03:03fruition or
03:04not, but the game will be in a year or two at a critical point, because runs, you know, moving
03:10the
03:10bases, that helped things, the pitch clock, that helped things too, but pitchers, Joe, they just
03:15keep getting better. I don't know about you, but that's the way I see. I don't see all of a
03:19sudden
03:19hitting just becoming great again without some sort of alteration. Well, listen, I think at some
03:28point it's going to revert back to there's got to be fundamentals input back and again. You and I
03:35watched, Craig, last night, they don't even care about guys stealing bases these days. Like,
03:40they don't even, they're just happy with, God, nobody's holding anybody on anymore,
03:45on, just go ahead, take the base, steal it. It feels like the game has become part of this,
03:52well, there's two true outcomes, right? I'm either throwing so hard that I'm striking you out,
03:57or you're going to hit a home run and there's really nothing else in between. So,
04:01and that feels like what we're at, nine million arms, nobody throws more than two innings, and
04:07this and that. It just, it feels like that's only going to cater to a certain few teams here that
04:15have
04:15and spend more money than the rest to get the talent. Outside of that, I don't know. I don't,
04:22I just don't know where the game is going. We'll figure it out in the end, but a lot of
04:26what made
04:27the game so nuanced and what the game within the game, and you've seen it, Craig, nobody watches it
04:34more than you. That game within the game is no longer there. It's just, it's analytics, it's home
04:41run, it's launch angle, it's velocity, and that's it. There's really nothing else.
04:46It's not going to be. It's not going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going to be. It's going
04:46to be. It's going to be. It's going
