00:04upon HBCU campuses across the nation on a new journey from North Carolina Central
00:10to Bowie State and Howard University all the way to Hillman. These bright-eyed
00:15first years have arrived with absolutely no idea what the world ahead has in
00:21store. Fortunately for them we've assembled a trusted committee of HBCU
00:29alumni who have made the mistakes, learned the lessons, and most importantly lived to
00:33tell the tale. That's straight to the young lady that just passed me on 34? No baby

01:00All the relationships will come later. Go ahead and just knock out the 8-10. Give
01:05yourself an early start because then you start having the 8 a.m. classes then you
01:08got the rest of your day. Your day over at like 1 o'clock. Absolutely positively heck no.
01:13You're gonna keep missing the class. Take it over and over again. The student loans gonna go up. You're gonna
01:18owe more money.
01:19Don't do the 8 a.m. Don't do it. The bonnets and the durags. I wore my durag last night
01:25in my apartment never in public.
01:27I feel like it's fair game everywhere except in the classroom. Personally I just don't think that I would wear
01:33them.

01:42One mistake that I made freshman year. That refund check ain't free money. You gotta pay that back.

02:49Choose the organization that's for you. You'll know it. You'll feel it. You'll feel it.
02:53Quick tips for entering the HBCU world. Make connections. Make friends. Be yourself. Be authentic.
02:58As long as you being yourself and you out there, you know, you making friends and all that, I feel
03:02like that's how you're supposed to move.
03:03Yo, live it up to the max. Learn a lot of lessons. Fail. Make mistakes. That's gonna make you better
03:08as an adult.
03:09I would encourage you to sit back. Observe. See who's who. Make your friends because you're gonna make your friends
03:14for life. Enjoy being a freshman. It's okay.
03:17I think you should just live in a moment and like sometimes that's hinged. Sometimes that's unhinged. The most memorable
