00:00We got some interesting comments this morning from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
00:05This was moments ago.
00:09We were talking earlier about Jerry Judy and how he's kind of been the odd man out.
00:14Lost his starting job.
00:16Todd Munkin's been very candid about that to the rookie receivers.
00:19Denzel Boston, Casey Concepcion.
00:21He is now a rotational player.
00:23Certainly came up big for the Browns Thursday night and went over the Steelers.
00:27The Browns do not win that game without Jerry Judy's contributions.
00:31But NFL trade deadline, a little over a month away.
00:34This is what ESPN's Adam Schefter had to say this morning when talking about potential trade candidates.
00:42We're going to tell you some more names to watch leading up to the November 10th NFL trade deadline.
00:48Jerry Judy, the Browns wide receiver.
00:49Cleveland has gotten a lot of production.
00:52I had Denzel Boston and Casey Concepcion.
00:54They're two rookie wide receivers.
00:56Judy being squeezed out, he could be had before the trade deadline.
01:00All right, there you go.
01:01So, and this is, now, this isn't earth-shattering news here.
01:05This isn't revelatory.
01:06I've talked about it.
01:08Nick, you've talked about it.
01:09Coach hasn't talked about it because Jerry Judy's going 1-0 and it doesn't matter.
01:15But, you know, when you look at just how the playing time's been distributed, right,
01:19his snaps were down Thursday night.
01:21Even again, they don't win that game without him and the three catches he had, which ended up being pretty
01:27big.
01:28But Jerry Judy probably going to be traded or could be traded here, assuming somebody wants him and his contract.
01:36No surprise hearing that from Adam Schefter this morning on ESPN.
01:41And, of course, that audio courtesy of Schefter on ESPN this morning.
01:45Yeah, this is not a surprise at all.
01:46And honestly, and I know, Coach, you might disagree with this.
01:49Like, I do think this is a situation with Jerry where he could probably find his way to get moved,
01:56even if this Brown season continues to go well.
01:59Because I think this Brown season is going so well because of the contributions that you're getting
02:04from the young receivers on the team, from Concepcion.
02:08How good did he look with the football in his hands in that first half against Pittsburgh
02:12when he was just making a couple Steeler DBs look absolutely silly, falling down, trying to catch him
02:18because he's so fast with the ball.
02:20Denzel Boston has been remarkable.
02:22He leads all rookie receivers.
02:24He leads this entire rookie class coming into today's slate of games.
02:28But on Thursday Night Football, he added 89 yards to his season total.
02:33So, dude, I just look at this and I'm like, Jerry, the writing can be on the wall for him.
02:38I'm like, regardless of if this is like a true fire sale or not, like I think Jerry just finds
02:43a way
02:44to kind of be removed from this equation because you've got young receivers playing really well.
02:49And I'd be curious to see a little more Isaiah Bond just because strike while it's hot.
02:55I've got young players playing well throughout the entire roster.
02:58I'm going to just keep playing them and keep hoping that I can get more big contributions from young guys.
03:03Well, and I thought Bond looked good during camp and preseason there.
03:08So, for me, it's just a byproduct of the evolution of the team and roster building.
03:16And, you know, a couple years ago when they traded for him and they gave him the contract right away,
03:21they needed him.
03:22I don't know that they have to have him or they need him.
03:28And I think it's important for Jerry, though, if he is unhappy, which would be understandable, just keep playing well.
03:36Get yourself moved.
03:37Make teams want you.
03:39Well, you know, here's the thing.
03:40You said it best.
03:41First of all, we talked about it during every day after camp.
03:43We talked about Isaiah Bond.
03:45He looked bigger.
03:45He looked faster.
03:46And he became more than just a vertical threat.
03:49He became a guy who could catch slants.
03:50So, he can use that speed in short routes, too, to run after catch.
03:54And if you look at this offense, Malachi Corley does a good job of playing inside and outside.
03:59Isaiah Bond can play inside and outside.
04:01Jerry Judy's also a guy who can play inside and outside.
04:03Now you have your two top guys where you have Casey Concepcion and you have Denzel Boston.
04:08They're going to live in 11 personnel because of the tight end efficiency.
04:12That means that third guy's got to be good, too.
04:14And I just think if you think Jerry Judy can get you something, for me, it's about Isaiah Bond closing
04:19the gap.
04:20He's earned the right to probably be.
04:22It's more of a credit to him.
04:23And if I look back at the Browns this summer, said Tillman had a pretty good camp.
04:28He was doing some solid things for me.
04:30He just wasn't good enough to make the team.
04:32That's where the roster construction.
04:33I didn't think he was terrible at all.
04:35I just thought the guys in front of him were better, which tells you he was a guy that we
04:38were hoping we'd get Denzel Boston type stuff.
04:40So, again, if he's moved, hopefully he's in a good spot.
04:43They get something good for him.
04:44I think they're in good shape with Isaiah Bond and Malachi Corley.
04:47If you could get something for Jerry Judy, if you could get something for anybody on this Browns roster, you'd
04:53go into next April's draft with a dozen draft picks.
04:55You've got 11 right now as it currently stands.
04:59And I do wonder how they'll play that game.
05:02Because if you're winning, like how you are right now, we obviously want that to continue.
05:073-1 has been a whole lot of fun.
05:09And I would like to make it 4-1 against the Jets.
05:12I do wonder, though, just some of their organizational needs.
05:16The Deshaun Watson future is a convo that we're going to have on the program this morning.
05:21You're going to need draft capital if you want to move up that draft board.
05:25Like you said, Daryl, earlier in the program, there is going to be no beating the New York Jets, who
05:30have three of them.
05:31But if you want to drop a quarterback into this thing, like how some in the national media were suggesting
05:37throughout this week,
05:38that if Deshaun could play you to a position where you could drop a rookie quarterback in here and be
05:44off to the races in 2027,
05:46you might need to trade off somebody like Jerry, even if the return is only a fourth or a fifth
05:51round pick.
05:51And you're using that fourth and fifth rounder in a package with more firsts and seconds to move up a
05:57draft board and get a QB at some point in April.
06:00I mean, if the Browns still want Arch Manning and they want Darian Mensah or they want Julian San or
06:08CJ Carr, any top quarterback.
06:12Well, them being 3-1 ain't going to help them get there.
06:16So we know where Coach is at, clearly.
06:20We've done our adjusted schedule game.
06:22He's in his own little world.
06:23That's where he's at.
06:24Daryl, and you and I both hit double-digit wins on our adjusted win total for the Browns here.
06:30If this happens, I have to buy Nick Wilson a burger.
06:32Which, okay, there's been worse things to ever happen.
06:36Have you ever watched Nick Wilson eat a burger that you've had to buy him?
06:39Never.
06:40Not yet.
06:41I have, unfortunately, experienced that.
06:44I have, as well.
06:45So we're bought into the Browns right now.
06:48Like, at 3-1.
06:50Yeah, I mean, you guys got a bunch of wins, too.
06:52Right.
06:53Everybody's poking fun at Coach and telling him that he needs to go home and do some drugs to say
06:58how he really feels.
06:59I had him at 11.
07:00You had him at 10.
07:02We're bought into the Browns right now at 3-1.
07:04It's effectively what happened.
07:06We're seven weeks ago, Daryl.
07:08Seven weeks to the day, you and I came in here and we said that we could not start Deshaun
07:13Watson at quarterback because of what happened in the preseason game number two against the Buffalo Bills.
07:18Well, I guess it's pretty clear that it's a good thing you and I did not make that decision.
07:24Which, by the way, I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth.
07:27To think that the team has progressed at such a rate, it's what makes winning early in NFL season so
07:35fun.
07:36Because, like, now, like, seven weeks ago, we said the guy was unplayable.
07:41And now we're still maybe not over our skis with him just because he has not played a full game
07:47kind of start to finish and been able to run a clean offensive, you know, operation and execution throughout a
07:53full four quarters.
07:54But to think that in a seven short week sprint, we went from the quarterback is unplayable, you got boat
08:02raced in week one, this is going to be a hell of a long year, to three straight wins have
08:07us saying that double-digit victories could potentially be in the horizon for this team.
08:13I think that's pretty cool.
08:15And I definitely do think the Browns is an organization that does not get much credit for doing much correct
08:21because they have not done much correct since they returned in 1999.
08:25They do deserve a little bit of credit for this because Jimmy Haslam came out and said that we weren't
08:31going to be painful to watch this year like we were over the last two.
08:34He's right about that so far.
08:36These last three wins have been thrilling.
08:38They have been exciting to watch, especially in the fourth quarter.
08:41Let's be honest about it, though.
08:42There have been painful stretches in those games.
08:44There have been, but overall, he also said that five and a half, he like laughed at that number.
08:49And right now, they were already at three.
08:52But I defended him.
08:54No, I didn't laugh at him.
08:55I defended him, and I said, take the over.
08:58I said I was team Jimmy Haslam.
09:00Take the over.
09:01I think they're going to win no less than six games.
09:04And I thought that eight was their ceiling.
09:07Coach thought 17 was their ceiling.
09:09That was like a true laughing point in the offseason was that you had an owner coming out and saying
09:14five and a half was over and he didn't even think twice about it when you had not upgraded the
09:21quarterback position this offseason, which a number of people thought that they absolutely had to do.
09:25You traded away Myles Garrett, who is the best defensive player in the history of this organization, and you got
09:32a bunch of draft picks plus Jared first back for him.
09:35But let's be honest, Myles Garrett was a big reason as to why he even won five games last year,
09:40even though everybody was thinking, okay, maybe they'll win five, maybe they'll win six if things go really well.
09:46To already have three wins going into week five when your offseason win total was at five and a half,
09:54this is pretty cool, guys.
09:56And I do just want to zoom out and say that the Browns do deserve just a smidge of credit
10:00because they saw this coming.
10:02And I don't think that this three and one start, Coach, to your point and what you're saying with, you
10:07know, the prep that they do every week and their expectation for the season, I don't know that the Browns
10:12are like all the way stunned at three and one.
10:15Yeah, I don't think they are.
10:16You know, it comes down to like, for example, what we're seeing at practice.
10:20So if you like, you know, I've heard a number of people who have said to me that they're there
10:24every day, too, that they thought Deshaun was terrible during camp.
10:27And if you look at the product of some days, I disagree, but if you look at the product of
10:33throwing the football, he had some tough days.
10:35But if you look at the new offense, if you look at him getting to the right plays, if you
10:39look at him getting into the right run play, to making sure he's checking protection, to going to the right
10:44spot with the ball, I saw all those as well.
10:47Now, the bottom product was there were some days he didn't throw it very well.
10:50Now, you tie that up to is that maybe because he's with new receivers.
10:53It may be because he was just bad, right, on those days.
10:56But for me, I saw a lot of progress, even though the product was so bad.
11:00The idea of throwing the football, A to B, he had some days that were tough, but he had a
11:05lot of really productive days with things that we don't measure.
11:08The right run play, getting in and out of the huddle with the double play call, the idea of are
11:13you going to the right spot, his footwork, his mechanics.
11:16Well, that's why he won the job.
11:17But more importantly, and I think he was healthy.
11:20And I think, you know, my thing was always that he's got a chance because I felt he was healthy.
11:23So new offense, I always just thought, I didn't know if he would be the guy or not, but I
11:27always felt with Munkin, let's see what happens because this is an offense that is based on matchups.
11:32What's been surprising is the wrong word, but the effectiveness of his mobility now has been a little bit of
11:42a pleasant surprise.
11:42I was very concerned about that in camp, not from like the, is he healthy enough to do it, but
11:48from the, are you sure you even want to ask him to do it so he doesn't put himself in
11:54harm's way?
11:55And he has shown the, the willingness and the ability to do that and be successful at it.
12:05It's not been perfect.
12:06He, look, he's, he's had the football God smile upon him in these three games too.
12:10Let's be very clear about that.
12:13There had been a lot of close calls, but guess what?
12:16Close calls don't matter.
12:19And everything that you just pointed out, coach, yeah, that's why he won the job for the folks that didn't
12:24understand why Shadour Sanders might've looked better.
12:29It's because Deshaun Watson was doing what the coaches actually wanted him to do.
12:34And get to the right spot.
12:35And he was, you're right though.
12:36He was throwing some bad balls and that's all part of it as well.
12:39And he had to improve that.
12:40And he has, but I think you're right with his feet look better.
12:43He's getting into the right place.
12:44But if you look at some of those plays like Casey Concepcion, he's making the plays.
12:48Deshaun's throwing at five yards.
12:50That's part of it.
12:50The drop touchdown.
12:51That's part of it.
12:52The missed interceptions by the defense.
12:54That's part of it.
12:54It all equals out if you're playing good football, which the Browns are as a team.
