A Florida high school football rivalry turned chaotic after the final whistle, with players, coaches and police caught in a series of fights across the field.
The incident happened after the Deltona and Matanzas matchup in Central Florida, where tensions had reportedly been building throughout the game. Once the contest ended, several separate altercations broke out, turning the field into a chaotic scene.
Video from the incident showed players fighting in different areas, with helmets being thrown and people falling to the ground. Coaches and law enforcement officers rushed in to separate players and prevent the situation from escalating further.
At one point, a coach appeared to take a hard fall during the chaos, while another player was seen helping an injured teammate leave the field.
The incident has raised questions about potential disciplinary action. Players from both schools could face suspensions, while officials may also review the conduct of the coaching staffs.
The schools and local athletic authorities are expected to examine the footage and circumstances surrounding the postgame violence before deciding what consequences may follow.
