00:00I don't want to shout this out because it's like my secret thing that I have.
00:04Volumes all the way up. Everything's hot. When I'm running, everything's hot.
00:34I'm Leo and I play guitar in Mela. So first off, this is a Fender Cyclone gifted by my wonderful
00:44grandmother when I was 16. Right from, straight off eBay, sorry. It already had this dent when
00:53I bought it. It's like scratch slash dent here. Yeah, and it's been the main guitar ever since.
01:02I did a few customizations to it. I got the locking tuners. I got new saddles, obviously
01:11new pickups. This is a Dan Electro lipstick style pickup. JB Seymour Duncan. And that's
01:18pretty much it. Everything else is stock. So I've been playing Elixirs since I can remember
01:23now. I'd like to try something else at this point, but anything that's coded is more than
01:29welcome. Stringjoy, hit me up, please. But yeah, Elixirs 10s through 46. That's all I've
01:39been playing this whole time since I've started. We play an E standard. I tend to play with the
01:46capo sometimes. But yeah, just E standard. Sometimes drop D, but that's as crazy as I
01:53ever get. And I usually, for the Mela stuff, I tend to play on the lipstick on the neck.
01:59When it's driven, I sometimes switch to this. But for the most part, I'll stay on the neck
02:05for all the Mela stuff. For any other things I play, I do use the bridge. Volumes all the
02:10way up. Everything's hot. When I'm running, everything's hot. I usually don't ever use
02:16the volume to clean up my tone or anything. So everything is pretty much laid out the way
02:23I have it plugged in. This is my volume pedal, which I use like a knob, like if it
02:29was on the guitar, like a knob. I know people usually put the volume at the end to
02:34not get a trail, but I actually want the trail when I'm playing. This is a dirty and
02:39clean switch. So I have two drives right here. I have my, this is like a Marshall JCM in a
02:47box. It's an Angry Charlie by JHS. And then sometimes for certain songs, I'll switch to
02:53this. This is a Jekyll and Hyde. This is an old one made by Visual Sound. I know they rebranded
03:01or whatever, but this is like, I think their second version. And it's got a distortion and
03:08an overdrive. And it's got a lot of, a lot of features. It's got like a bunch of fucking
03:13switches to really, really dial in your, your drives. But I usually tend to use the Angry
03:20Charlie for the Mela stuff. So whenever this is red, I'm using this. Whenever this is green,
03:27I'm actually using the Duke of Tone as a, like a clean boost preamp sort of thing. But I don't
03:36ever use the amp on its own. Like I always tend to give it like a little boost of either
03:42boost or
03:43overdrive, even if it's clean. That's pretty much it in terms of distortion or overdrive. So from here,
03:52from all this junk over here, it actually goes straight to this delay. And I have a few presets
03:58depending on the song I'm playing. And then when I'm in green, it's just a looper actually. So I use
04:04this as a loop and a delay. And then this is a Space Echo. This is more of a, like
04:12an, like an
04:12experiment on the board. I don't have a preset for this. I kind of throw it on like however, whenever
04:18I want. And same with this. This I actually use as a glitch. So I'll do stuff like. So I'll
04:34use it in
04:35terms of just like glitching my signal and just fuckery. And then this is a modulator. I use it
04:44as a, like a, kind of like a, like a tremolo. And you can get real crazy with this one.
05:02Yeah. And for anyone familiar with the Line 6 DL4, this is a DL4 looper.
05:12Not literally, but it does the same thing. I don't have any loops saved onto this right now,
05:18but it literally does the same thing as a Line 6 DL4. I don't want to shout this out because
05:25it's
05:25like my secret thing that I have. Me and another friend of mine. I'm sure people know what this
05:31is, but I purposely sharpied over it to not represent the brand. But it does the same thing
05:40as a Line 6 DL4 for everyone who knows that pedal. And these are just reverbs, just straightforward
05:47reverbs. I use it. I use both of them at the same time for the Mellow stuff.
05:59And these are always on for the Mellow stuff. Um, sometimes I'll turn one off depending on
06:06the part. I'll just leave this one on, but usually both of them are on. And I like this
06:11one specifically because it has like a, this thing. It's like a momentary switch that'll
06:18like, I think that's pretty cool. Yeah, that's about it. Pretty simple. It's big, but it's
06:29actually very simple. And this, this is a boost. I know I skipped this one over here, but it's
06:33just a boost. It's probably my favorite part. I'm not going to lie. Um, okay. So this is
06:41a Vox AC30, um, hand-wired with blue Alnico speakers. I bought this off Facebook Marketplace.
06:50Um, I bought it off this older guy who, uh, is like a jazz blues player. Um, and I knew
06:57he, he was like, uh, just giving it away because it was really, really cheap, really, really
07:02affordable. Um, and, uh, it was a no brainer. I had to, I had to buy it, you know, I
07:08didn't
07:08even hesitate. As soon as I saw it, it was like, I need that shit. So, um, yeah, we bought
07:13it for like, maybe like two grand, close to two grand, but these are worth way more than
07:19that. Um, it does not have a standby switch. Um, because the old school Vox is usually with
07:25standby switches. They'll like fuck up the tubes if you don't use a standby switch properly.
07:31So, um, yeah, these are known for that. So it, they skipped about the standby switch. They
07:36have the blue Alnico's and it's the same chimey Vox sound that everyone knows. So my go-to
07:44right now, it's low volume because we're doing this, but I usually just do half, halfway, um,
07:50maybe like 60, 65% volume. Uh, so the master usually goes around the M. I go around the
07:58M for the, uh, normal. I use in high mode. Um, so high, a little bit over halfway. Um, I
08:06don't
08:06EQ anything here and the tone cut is usually about right here where enough to where I get
08:14enough low end and it's not very, uh, trebly or middy sounding. I don't want to scratch
08:20anyone's ear or pierce anyone's ears. Uh, so I usually have it right, right about here.
08:25I don't know what that would be considered. Um, so right about right there. Um, um, and then
08:32I, there's a switch that has a bright setting and I like using the bright setting. Um, I feel
08:37like it just balances everything out really well. Um, and there is a switch to throw it
08:44down like half, half the power. So you can go from 30 Watts to 15 Watts. Obviously I use as
08:50much power as I can get. So I'll crank up the 30. Um, and that's usually how I use it.
08:55I use
08:56these Dunlop picks also, uh, the 1.0 millimeter Dunlop Tortex. I like thick boys for my playing.
09:04I feel like you just have more control and attack position to, you know, you, you want
09:09to just have that, have that power when you strum. Follow Mela actually on Instagram, follow
09:15me on Instagram if you'd like to keep up with anything I do. It's a Leo X Castro. And, um,
09:21yeah, thanks for watching.
09:35Bye-bye.
09:37Bye-bye.
