00:00It's a 1x12, the 2x12 is a little too much for me.
00:02I even added lock-in tuners up here.
00:05I prefer lock-in tuners.
00:32Hello, I'm Carson in the band Riffwood, and this is my guitar.
00:36This is a Yamaha Refstar RSS 20.
00:40I think it's a very beautiful guitar.
00:42Every time I walk into Guitar Center, one of the guys working at it will go, oh, you
00:46got a Refstar?
00:47Nice.
00:47So I get complimented on it all the time.
00:49I love it.
00:50It's got two humbucker pickups, got the focus switch down here, which is really nice because
00:56it'll boost mids and kind of darken the highs a little bit.
00:59Five-way switch right here, very versatile.
01:02I even added lock-in tuners up here.
01:05I prefer lock-in tuners.
01:07I think they make it way easier to restring, obviously, and I feel like they hold tuned
01:11pretty well.
01:12It's also got the Tune-O-Matic in here, holds tuned pretty well, I think this guitar does.
01:16It's very smooth on the back.
01:17I think it's a satin finish or something.
01:19It feels great.
01:19It's really nice to play.
01:20And yeah, I absolutely adore this guitar.
01:22I think the black color is sick and the maroon-ish dark red on the back is beautiful.
01:27So yeah, everything on this is stock except for the lock-in tuners that I added.
01:31I'll usually play all the way up on the tone knob and the volume and everything.
01:34I don't usually use the focus switch that much, but if I want to, it's there.
01:39When I'm using my distortion, I'll usually just have it all the way down on the tone bridge
01:43and just play my stuff with a lot of distortion.
01:46And if I switch into clean, I'll usually go up towards the middle.
01:48I like that sound the most or sometimes right about there.
01:52Not too picky on it, but somewhere around there is my favorite.
01:55These are the strings I use.
01:57Elixir 10 gauge and 46.
01:59I love it.
02:00Very bright feel.
02:01Feels great.
02:02I've played a lot of strings, but these are my favorite.
02:05I play mostly just standard E tuning.
02:07We do drop D every now and then, but that's pretty much it.
02:10This is my beloved Yamaha Transacoustic.
02:13I love it so, so much.
02:15It sounds amazing.
02:15I love the big body, it's got a really big, grand sound.
02:19I just added this pickguard there because it wasn't there before, and I did it.
02:24It's a little crooked, but I love it.
02:26I think it's great.
02:28Yeah, everything is stock on it.
02:30I love the built-in chorus and reverb that you can get on here because there's the speaker
02:36inside and you can turn it on and just get cool sounds out of it.
02:40It sounds amazing.
02:40I love it.
02:41All right.
02:41This is my pedal board.
02:43I'm using just a regular chromatic tuner.
02:45It's great.
02:47This Tube Screamer, I only use it on a few songs, but I love it.
02:51It's just more one of those clean, but distorted sounds a little bit.
02:55Not too heavy, but it sounds great.
02:56I've been loving it.
02:58The MXR Super Badass Distortion, only used on one song, but still, again, sounds great
03:03when you just kick into that.
03:04It's got great sounds on it.
03:06Big Muff.
03:07I have actually not used this on this tour yet, but it's still here.
03:11It's waiting to be used.
03:13It's great.
03:13It's just a great fuzz sound.
03:14I love the Big Muff.
03:15And this right here is the five-way Black Star pedal, which connects to my Black Star
03:20amp right around here.
03:23This is the Black Star HT Stage 60 MK3.
03:28It's a 1x12.
03:29The 2x12 is a little too much for me.
03:31It's very, very heavy, very, very loud.
03:34I don't quite need it.
03:35But this thing, I love it so, so much.
03:37I use most of my sounds coming from this.
03:40Again, I use a few of those pedals on certain songs, but most of my sounds come straight
03:45from here.
03:46This is like my clean, well, it's my distortion, my super higher distortion.
03:51And, you know, I got all my things.
03:53It's very versatile.
03:54You can do so much with it.
03:556 watts or 60 watts.
03:58Yeah.
03:58It's great.
03:59I love it.
04:00This is usually where it's always at.
04:01I don't really change it that much.
04:03Occasionally, our sound guy, B, will just, he'll have me like adjust something if it's
04:08a different room.
04:08But it mostly stays the same for the most part.
04:10Like every good show, you gotta have some good picks.
04:12I don't really care what they look like as long as they're Fender mediums or even just
04:16the same texture as a medium.
04:18But I like the Fender ones.
04:19I think they look cool and everything.
04:21You gotta have a pick stand for it because I drop picks all the time and I don't have
04:25time to pull out of my pocket or even if I have one in my pocket.
04:28So yeah, gotta have some good picks on you.
04:30What's up?
04:31Thanks for checking out my gear.
04:32I'm Carson from Riffwood.
04:33We have an album, Butterfly in Black and White, coming out September 18th.
04:36Make sure to go listen to it.
04:37And yeah, thanks for hanging with me.
05:08I'll see you next time!
