00:00Well, some pretty devastating English local council by-election results this week that
00:05hopefully wake people up to the reality of the choice that we face in this country.

00:25Now, look, the choice at the next general election is perfectly clear.
00:29The Tories are in total denial as they get wiped out in vast swathes of the country.
00:35But the only two parties now regularly getting over 20% of the vote, as you can see here
00:41with multiple pollsters, is the Labour Party and Reform UK.
00:47And you can see with YouGov, they've actually got now a reform head of Labour by a single
00:53point.
00:54But that is the choice, folks.
00:55And, you know, a huge wake-up call that I'd love to get your thoughts on in the comments
01:02below in some local council by-elections this week.
01:04Because Andy Burnham's party, with a couple of absolute let-offs, first of all in Blackpool,
01:12you can see here Labour's support declining there by 10 points.
01:15And Reform coming very close with 38% of the vote just behind Labour there, very close to
01:22taking that seat.
01:23But look, you had Restore take 7% of the vote and the Conservatives collapsing but still taking
01:306% of the vote.
01:32So what is the end result?
01:34Labour fight off the Reform challenge and hold that seat.
01:38In Northumberland, you can see here Reform, head-to-head, Labour versus Reform.
01:46But you can see here the Conservatives on 21%, Restore on 7% and the end result is a Labour
01:55gain from Reform in another close contest.
01:59Another seat in Northumberland, you can see here a Labour gain from Reform.
02:04Again, head-to-head, Labour versus Reform with Restore on 10% and the Conservatives on 4%.
02:11And finally, in North West Leicestershire, not much evidence of a burn and bounce there.
02:18And you can see the Conservatives easily holding that seat.
02:22But their vote shared down slightly as well with Reform in second place and Restore on 5% there.
02:30And look in terms of the general trend that we've seen this year.
02:33It remains pretty clear in the local council by-election results we've seen since May's
02:39elections, Reform are up, the Conservatives are down and Labour are down.
02:45But look, maybe those kind of results will serve as a wake-up call.
