00:11Speaking at the Labour Party's annual conference in Liverpool on Tuesday,
00:15the British Premier argued that a clear strategy on the UK's long-term relationship with the bloc
00:20is vital.
00:21Control over immigration was weakened when we lost collaboration with our European partners,
00:26and we are still having to work hard to bring it back.
00:31Later this year there will be a UK-EU summit, where one of the issues on the agenda will
00:36be how we best work together on immigration.
00:40And beyond that we will work to secure gains for our British industries most harmed by Brexit.
00:45Conference, these are important concrete steps, but they are not enough.
00:50I say this to you and the country, we will not give Britain the clear path we need into
00:55the rest of this century until we decide on a long-term relationship with what is still
01:02our largest market.
01:04The country's divisive 2016 vote to leave the EU has once again been thrust under the spotlight
01:10this year amid mounting calls from leading Labour figures to re-enter the bloc.
01:15Burnham has also previously said he was in favour of rejoining.
