00:00Later this year there will be a UK-EU summit, where one of the issues on the agenda will
00:06be how we best work together on immigration. People arriving on small boats down 40% on
00:13the last year, 50% from the early 2020s. Net migration down more than 80% since the peak
00:19of the Boris Johnson era. We make these changes, but we will always be grateful, always, and
00:27we thank them for those people who have come here and are contributing to our country.
00:34Thank you to them.
00:48But control over immigration was weakened when we lost collaboration with our European partners
00:53and we are still having to work hard to bring it back. Later this year there will be a UK
00:59-EU
01:00summit, where one of the issues on the agenda will be how we best work together on immigration.
01:07And beyond that we will work to secure gains for our British industries most harmed by Brexit.
01:12Conference, these are important concrete steps, but they are not enough. I say this to you and the country,
01:18we will not give Britain the clear path we need into the rest of this century until we decide
01:25on a long-term relationship with what is still our largest market.
01:41I cannot say to you truthfully that where we are is good enough. Brexit has done more harm than good.
01:58We need to restore a higher level of growth and prosperity for Britain.
02:04So I will take the opportunity around the summit to lay out to you, to lay out to the country,
02:11what I believe the different options are for Britain's long-term relationship with our European partners.
02:18And there are different options. And I will see if we can find consensus around one,
02:26which will give us clarity about our position and the future of the continent that we live in.
02:46Well, Conference, I did warn you this speech will be different, didn't I?
02:52But I think this moment in our country's history requires it.

03:04Now, all moments of Labour governments, all moments which saw Britain rediscover a sense of hope.
03:15When I walked up Downing Street on my first day in the job, I promised to give Britain a circuit
03:21breaker,
03:21to get us out of the rut we've been in, to get us believing again.
03:25I say this to everyone watching at home, you may disagree with some or all of what I've said today,
03:33but I have given you what you often say is missing from politics, honesty, ideas and a clear direction for
03:45the country we all love.
04:09I now want to make a direct appeal to you.
04:16If you agree with enough of what I've said, get behind this plan.
04:25And get behind each other.
04:28It's time to draw a line.
04:31To move beyond a decade of drift and division.
04:36To bring a spirit of unity and positivity back to our country.
04:42To unlock the working class aspiration that is still there in every postcode in this great land.
