00:00Well there's great irony in Labour pushing to rejoin the European Union at a time when
00:06those inside the EU aren't exactly happy campers. I mean the Germans are freaking out over how much
00:13money they're being asked to stump up now and also huge warnings coming from France as well
00:21to the extent that the French President Emmanuel Macron is trying to rush this all through before
00:28the next French presidential election next year. Clearly the establishment in France very very
00:35worried the EU establishment very very worried with elections. You know the people actually being
00:39able to have a say on this imagine that in Italy, Poland, Greece, Finland and France and the Eurosceptics
00:47could well make gains in all of those elections and we know that that is happening in France very
00:53clearly. Marine Le Pen is absolutely dominating the polls. At the moment it's looking like it'll be
01:00between her and Jean-Luc Mélenchon in terms of the next French presidential election but just look at
01:08that first round percentage for Le Pen on 37 to 38 percent in the first round. Mélenchon would come
01:16second but would be about 20 points behind Le Pen and all the polling at the moment has Le Pen
01:22then
01:22beaten Mélenchon easily in a second round runoff to become the next French president. And what is
01:28being pledged in terms of the heavy favourite now to become the next French president? Well the vow to
01:34massively cut France's funding to the EU. Indeed to propose a net contribution of ÂŁ5 billion. That would be
01:45the cap and that would be a complete and utter nightmare for the European Union. Le Pen clearly
01:52very serious about cracking down on France's contribution to this project and speaking out
02:01there against this plan to rush everything through before she has the chance to stop it, to change it.
02:08And you can see the quote there from Le Pen. In fact I think it reveals the contempt the commission
02:12has
02:13for democratic processes in Europe that there'll be a tough debate but they have conviction and will
02:20that they'll be able to do it. And you can see that the likes of Germany, Austria, Denmark, Finland,
02:26the Netherlands, Sweden wanting to cut hundreds of billions from the budget. A two trillion euro budget
02:36by the way is now the balmy proposal that's being put forward. Le Pen there looking to save ÂŁ11 billion
02:45by cutting French contributions to the EU, capping it there at a net rate of ÂŁ5 billion which is what
02:53it
02:53was around 20 years ago. But yeah another warning there in terms of the outlook for the European Union.
03:03But yeah please do let me know your thoughts on all that in the comments below. Please do
