00:00Energy Minister Dr. Rudal Munilal says the government is continuing to work to address challenges within the natural gas supply.
00:08Energy and Energy Industries Minister Dr. Rudal Munilal, in response to the Express via WhatsApp, said,
00:15quote, this administration has always indicated that natural gas supply was challenging in the short term
00:22due to reduced investments over the last decade within the energy sector.
00:27However, we've confronted this head-on and are actively working to correct this, end quote.
00:34Munilal said he had noted the articles regarding a strategic review at Promon, which includes a revision of the number
00:41of persons employed.
00:43He said, quote, as reported, this review is taking place globally with the specific impact to local employees to be
00:51determined, end quote.
00:53Munilal said the government's intervention have already borne fruit, with improved production rates being realized in 2026.
01:02He said, quote,
01:03We acknowledge that we are not where we want to be in terms of supply, but we are better than
01:09what was projected,
01:10and as such, we'll continue to address the critical challenge through innovative and strategic discussions, end quote.
01:17Munilal noted that a medium-term outlook for gas in Trinidad and Tobago is promising,
01:23and the government is continuing to work diligently to bring gas to market faster.
01:30He said the government is committed to protecting and building jobs in the energy sector over the medium term
01:36and will continue to engage all stakeholders in this regard.
