00:00I wanted to start with this Bears game because the Bears lost.
00:03I hope everybody understands that.
00:05We're going to preface everything with that.
00:07The Bears have lost to the Vikings.
00:08It was a sloppy game.
00:10I mean, my God, it felt like it was just a struggle on both sides of the ball for both
00:15teams.
00:15Now, the Vikings, I will give a ton of credit to Open.
00:19They were fantastic on defense.
00:21And, John, you've been singing your praises about Brian Flores,
00:23and he had a master class of a game plan again against another good offense.
00:28So, John, your initial thoughts on the Bears losing, and more importantly, I have to say this as well,
00:35the reason why we're starting with this is because Caleb Williams went down with a non-contact injury
00:40that looks like a hamstring injury.
00:42They're calling it a hamstring injury.
00:44It's what it kind of looked like.
00:46A lot of people were fearing Achilles.
00:47A lot of people were fearing calf.
00:49It is a hamstring injury.
00:50They said he was walking around.
00:52He was in good spirits.
00:52He was smiling to everybody, John, after the game, even though they lost.
00:57But what are your thoughts initially on this Caleb injury and then the Bears' loss?
01:02First and foremost, I just want to say the loss had nothing to do with him being hurt
01:07and everything to do with Brian Flores.
01:09Let's clear that up 1,000%.
01:12Brian Flores gets the game ball.
01:15Brian Flores, if wins went to assistant coaches and coordinators, this one went to him.
01:21He kept them guessing all game.
01:23This team put up 59 points the previous week and came back this week, and they looked completely confused.
01:30Again, the talent was still there.
01:31The play calling was still there.
01:33The Vikings just threw the Bears off their rhythm and what they like to do,
01:37and the Bears never had an answer for what the Vikings were doing until the final two drives.
01:45And this is what happened last year when it came down to the end of the game.
01:48As bad as some of these games went, the Bears found a way to win them, but we find ourselves
01:53in a place now
01:54where we always say you don't win close games in back-to-back years.
01:58Here's a massive illustration of that, where they get into a close game.
02:04The day stunk.
02:05It's been awful.
02:06You got three points, and you find a way to work down.
02:10Caleb's got it.
02:11He's running towards the corner of the end zone.
02:13Looks like he's going to score because he's got blocking.
02:15And then pop, whether it be Achilles, they say it's hamstring.
02:18I trust what they say when they say it's hamstring.
02:20He pulls or pops a hamstring.
02:22He goes down.
02:23And you're still within the seven-yard line.
02:27You're still within a pass of winning the game, and it just goes absolutely up in smoke.
02:33And it just goes to show you week to week, the NFL continues to surprise you.
02:39And week to week, you don't know what can happen.
02:42Because a team that scored 59 points the previous week, Rain shouldn't have held him to three points.
02:48And Rain didn't.
02:49Brian Flores did.
02:52Tim, what did you see from that Caleb injury?
02:56What did you see from the Bears?
02:57I mean, again, we got to remember, they went from scoring 59 points in week one to three on Sunday.
03:04And Caleb was 15 of 26.
03:05He had 138 yards, an interception before he left.
03:09And, again, Minnesota didn't look that good either.
03:11But, Tim, I mean, are you concerned?
03:14I know Bears fans are.
03:15I know John is.
03:16But, Tim, are you concerned with this Caleb injury as we move forward through this NFL season?
03:21Because it seems like it'll be a multi-week absence at this point.
03:27I think this is a tragedy for the Bears.
03:32I think this is a tragedy for the NFL.
03:35Because the Bears are NFL football.
03:39They're Americana.
03:40Their history is Bears Packers.
03:42It's George Hallis.
03:43It's the whole thing.
03:44And the one thing the Bears have never had, despite all of their history, the Super Bowl shuffle and the
03:51defense in 85, they never had a quarterback.
03:54And this is a gift on a platter.
03:58One of the most talented young quarterbacks in the NFL in Caleb Williams going to Chicago Bears with Super Bowl
04:06aspirations.
04:07If the Rams are not who we thought they were, the NFC is up for grabs and the Bears are
04:12right at the top of the heap.
04:14But without Caleb Williams, there's nothing.
04:18He's the engine behind all that.
04:20I know they run the ball well and he'll probably win a few games.
04:24But you're talking about maybe a 13-win team with Caleb Williams in this NFC, now down to 8 or
04:309.
04:32Well, they've been bad.
04:34But I was about to say, 8 or 9 is generous.
04:38I mean, I think, guys, the biggest issue here is, like, it's obviously how much time Caleb could miss.
04:45But it's also Tyson Bajan.
04:47And listen, I've been a Tyson Bajan fan.
04:50I think he's a pretty good backup quarterback.
04:52But, John, like, I don't think you can hinge your playoff hopes and your Super Bowl hopes on Tyson Bajan
04:59in that type of division.
05:00I know the division hasn't really lived up to its expectations so far.
05:04But, I mean, you can't really hitch anything to Tyson Bajan, right?
05:08As good as a lot of people think that he is.
