00:00
The biggest disappointment, though, has to be in Chicago and the Bears and that today
00:08
or this week rather was represented when they moved on from their offensive coordinator
00:14
in Shane Waldron.
00:15
You know, I look at Kayla Williams, who I bet to an offensive rookie of the year, and
00:19
I'll be honest, I go, I did the right thing.
00:21
The reason I bet the Bears is I believe they would make the playoffs.
00:25
It wasn't even about Kayla being better than Jaden Daniels or Bo Nicks or even Marvin Harrison
00:30
Jr.
00:31
Malik neighbors.
00:32
And you look at what is going to probably still get Jaden Daniels that award.
00:36
It's making the playoffs where I was wrong was the Bears and man, I was wrong about the
00:43
Chicago Bears.
00:44
I and I ignored some warning signs about Ibraflux a bit and Shane Waldron a lot.
00:51
And Kayla Williams is now finding himself having a really bad season in effective and
00:57
efficient, struggling to complete passes to three straight games for Kayla Williams, completing
01:02
less than 55 percent of his passes.
01:05
His top passing yards in that run is to 17.
01:08
He's thrown for under a buck 40 in two of those games.
01:12
No passing touchdowns in that run.
01:15
When the game this is coming off of a by the game before that, he threw four scores.
01:19
That is just been a nightmarish season in Chicago, which is incredible to say is just
01:26
a few weeks ago they were sat there four and two looking dangerous.
01:29
Yes.
01:30
And they did over exceed in the first half of the season.
01:33
And I think that's maybe where they got into a little complacency.
01:37
And that's where Matt Ibraflux and that offensive staff, Shane Waldron, felt, you know what?
01:42
Let's try and get to eight or nine wins to solidify in a playoff role as opposed to just
01:48
continuing to open up the offense.
01:50
The concern for Caleb early on was that, you know, he didn't have a quality road win under
01:55
his belt outside the winning overseas in London against Jacksonville.
01:59
Right.
02:00
They were starting to come into form.
02:01
That might have been one of his better performances from a passing perspective as well, where
02:06
he lit up the Jaguars.
02:07
But Kev, you know, you know how I felt about the Bears coming in.
02:10
Right.
02:11
Yeah.
02:12
Not not about Caleb, but he was dead to rights to begin with.
02:15
Right.
02:16
He did it last year.
02:17
And whether you love or hate Justin Fields, that's not the point.
02:20
The point was this was a very conservative staff and they over exceeded early on.
02:26
Caleb needs to be able to improvise.
02:28
He needs to be able to get the football out of his hands quick.
02:31
They didn't have that type of offense.
02:33
They wanted to run it.
02:34
Then they got confused when teams shut down the run and then they were not aggressive
02:38
in terms of their play calling short to intermediate passes.
02:41
He took nine sacks last week against the New England Patriots.
02:46
Nine sacks.
02:47
I mean, it's unfortunate, but they're putting him in the same situation that everybody killed
02:54
fields for.
02:55
It's going to be the same thing unless you get an offensive mind.
02:58
Yeah.
02:59
But they also field didn't have anywhere near the talent that this young kid has here in
03:02
Caleb Williams.
03:03
And also keep in mind to start those first three games went one and two.
03:05
They should have been on three.
03:06
The Titans handed them that game on opening day and Caleb wasn't very good.
03:10
Then they turned the corner.
03:11
The Rams, Panthers, Jaguars, not great football teams that okay, rookie now took his bumps
03:14
in the roads.
03:15
Looks like he's going to turn the corner, turned it, turned it the wrong direction that
03:18
commander's card.
03:19
Those Patriots games got worse by they were now granted.
03:22
You had to fire your office.
03:23
According.
03:24
There's no question.
03:25
I don't know if you're going to fire the head coach during the season, but that's the easiest
03:27
change to make.
03:28
You're not sitting down.
03:29
Caleb Williams saying you got to take a backseat like Anthony Richardson.
03:32
That's your franchise guy.
03:33
He's expected to move mountains out there on offense and the weapons are there.
03:35
Joe, three quality wide receivers, good tight end, good running game here.
03:38
You should not be scoring under 10 points in a game.
03:41
There's a chance they can turn it around today because sometimes you do get the bump from
03:44
the offensive coordinator.
03:45
And I've always said this, regardless of what you think Thomas Brown is going to do today,
03:49
I guarantee you, he's not going to have a conservative game plan says, let's just keep
03:52
us in the ball game.
03:53
That's not how you get a job.
03:54
That's not, you get the buzz around the league.
03:56
You step into today and challenge Green Bay Packers and score 24 plus point.
04:00
And let's say even if you lose the game, Hey, look, the offense is back.
04:02
That's all you can ask for.
04:03
If they enter this game and lose to the Packers, I don't know, 27 to 13, it is going to be
04:08
hell on wheels to listen to what they're talking about in Chicago the rest of the way, because
04:12
then it goes right back to Eber.
04:13
Yeah.
04:14
I think the reality is there's almost nothing you can do to keep his job.
04:17
I think the worst part for the bears is the potential that you have now lowered how good
04:22
your job is.
04:23
I think you look at this past off season and you could easily argue the bears were the
04:26
best job available on the market.
04:29
We might get the Cowboys job.
04:31
You might get both New York jobs available this off season.
04:35
Just that right there.
04:37
You might be fourth because New York is new Dallas is, I mean, what are we talking about
04:41
here?
04:42
Right.
04:43
In terms of pedigree.
04:44
I'm not saying the bears are a small market team by any stretch, but man, you, you have
04:47
real things that you could potentially be competing with at a super high level, making
04:51
this difficult for you.
04:52
You want to get into that conversation.
04:55
We'll watch it play out.
