00:00These are two of the hottest new phones right now, the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the Nothing Phone 4A Pro.
00:06I've been using them side-by-side for the past few weeks and honestly, they couldn't be more different.
00:11On one side, you've got this top-tier flagship packed with some of the best specs that you can get,
00:16but it'll cost you a whopping $1,300.
00:20On the other side, there's the Nothing Phone, way cheaper at around $500.
00:25It's more of a mid-range, so yeah, the specs aren't as crazy,
00:28but it makes up for it with a few tricks up its sleeves.
00:31So the real question is, do you go all out with the best of the best,
00:35or save yourself $800 and still get something fresh and fun?
00:39That's exactly what you're going to find out in this video.

00:47First, let's talk about looks, and I'm giving this one to the Nothing Phone right away.
00:51Don't get me wrong, the Galaxy does look clean and premium,
00:54but it's just not as exciting as the Nothing 4A Pro.
00:57This phone just has way more personality.
01:00And yeah, it's not fully transparent like some of the older phones that Nothing releases,
01:04but I actually like this cleaner look with that bold camera module.
01:08Because let's be real, most of us are going to slap a case on it anyways.
01:12So with this crazy camera module, I can still have that Nothing aesthetic up top
01:16without actually needing a cheaper clear case to show the design of the phone.
01:21Though Nothing does still include one in the box, which is nice.
01:24Now, both of these phones have their unique features that no other phones have.
01:28On Samsung, you got the S Pen, and on the Nothing Phone, you've got that Glyph Matrix.
01:34Personally, I could live without both, but they do have their moments.
01:38With the Nothing, the Glyph Matrix is bigger, brighter, and way easier to see outdoors
01:43compared to its previous version, the Phone 3.
01:46I mostly used it for stuff like tracking an Uber, checking the volume, or setting custom notifications,
01:52like having a car pop up whenever a family member texts me.
01:57And I also love that Nothing lets third-party developers make their own Glyph stuff onto this Glyph Matrix.
02:02Like I was able to use an app from the Play Store called .Hub to get a better countdown timer
02:07and some cooler-looking Glyph toys.
02:10Usually, though, I always just had it set to show me the time on the back, like right here.
02:15But if I'm being honest, I didn't find myself using the Glyph Matrix that much.
02:19I just didn't always feel that great putting my phone face down on random surfaces
02:23where the display could get scratched up.
02:26So yeah, I can live without it, but in certain moments, it can come in handy if I remember to
02:31use it.
02:32As for the S Pen, I actually found myself using it even less.
02:35Especially now that Samsung removed Bluetooth features, so things like using it as a camera remote, are pretty much gone.
02:42Most of the time, I only used it when my fingers weren't cutting it.
02:45Like signing something, doodling around, or scrubbing through a timeline while editing.
02:50Besides that, it just stayed tucked away like this.
02:54Now, for the build quality and durability, I felt good with both.
02:57But if I had to pick, I'd go with the Samsung.
03:00Even though the Nothing Phone has an aluminum back and the Galaxy has a glass back,
03:04the Samsung still has a stronger reinforced aluminum frame,
03:08tougher glass at the front, and a much better water resistance rating.
03:12In hand though, when I was actually holding them and using them,
03:15they were pretty similar in feel.
03:18Same general size, thickness, and overall weight.
03:22The S26 Ultra is slightly heavier, bigger, and thinner, but nothing drastic.
03:28Both felt comfortable to use and carry around daily.
03:30But still, I couldn't walk around without a case, and since the Galaxy didn't come with one in the box,
03:35unlike the Nothing Phone did, I had to find a sleek case for it that wouldn't add any bulk or
03:41thickness to it.
03:41And that's when I came across these cases from Alamoo, the sponsor of this video.

04:35It's got this modern and fresh design, and it still keeps it slim with a raised aluminum alloy camera frame
04:40for better camera protection.
04:41Plus, its UFO design on the back even glows in the dark too, which is super cool.

05:02All right, let's talk software because honestly, both of these feel great just in very different ways.
05:08Out of the box, nothing phone comes with nothing OS 4.1 on top of Android 16.
05:12You're getting three years of OS updates and six years of security patches.
05:16While on the Galaxy, it's running One UI 8.5 on Android 16, and it's got a much longer commitment,
05:23seven years of OS updates, and seven years of security patches.
05:27So, even though the Galaxy costs twice as much or even more than that,
05:30it'll stay updated for more than double the lifetime of the nothing phone.
05:35Now, I've used both softwares for a while, made customization videos on both of them,
05:39and really dug into each for the past few years, and they each have their strengths.
05:43In fact, I even just put together a video showing how to fully customize the S26 Ultra in under 10
05:49minutes.

05:52With nothing OS, the biggest thing is the design.
05:56That monochrome dot matrix look just has way more identity.
06:00Sure, some people might think it's ugly, but you can't deny it's the most uniform and recognizable Android OS out
06:06there,
06:06meaning you can literally see it from across the room and instantly know that it's a nothing phone.
06:12And I just love how you can get a super clean aesthetic setup with matching widgets and icons very easily.
06:18That's not something that you can easily do on most other Androids.
06:21I also love that they added a new way to quickly use community-driven widgets right from the widgets panel.
06:27Like, I was able to download and use one that shows my calendar events,
06:31another that displays my to-dos in a really clean way, and even some fun ones like a fidget spinner
06:36or a flabby bird-style game.
06:38And there's a lot more to choose from.
06:40This just really shows how community-driven nothing is.
06:44Plus, I also really like that the OS stays pretty close to stock Android for a smooth and fast feel.
06:50Sure, it's got that monochrome skin on top, but it doesn't overwhelm you with a bunch of gimmicky bells and
06:55whistles that could slow things down and drain the battery.
06:58If I had to describe Nothing OS, I would honestly just say that it feels like a lightweight custom ROM
07:03with extra features that you would actually want to use.
07:07Things like app cloning, AirPods support if you have AirPods, custom gestures, and so on.
07:13Now, the downside about Nothing OS is that it's just not as smart as other operating systems,
07:17meaning it doesn't have nearly as many AI tools or features, especially when you compare it to the Galaxy S26.
07:23I mean, take Nothing's built-in apps like the voice recorder or the gallery.
07:28There's no AI built in there.
07:30Like when a voice records something, it would be nice to get a transcription and a summary, but nope.
07:36When editing photos, you get maybe one or two AI tools like removing pedestrians or glare from glass, but that's
07:43about it.
07:43Plus, there's also no writing assistance or translation features anywhere throughout the OS.
07:48Now, that's not to say that there aren't any AI tools at all.
07:51There are a few.
07:52The biggest one is the Essential Key.
07:54It's that dedicated hardware button on the left side.
07:56You can press it and you get this screen where you can record a voice note, create a task, take
08:02a screenshot, or combine all of them together.
08:05From there, everything goes into this app called Essential Space, which is like a hub for all your saved notes,
08:10tasks, and screenshots.
08:11It'll even summarize all that stuff for you when you tap on them.
08:15I didn't really find myself using it that much, but it's there.
08:18And then there's Essential Search, which helps you find things or answer questions from the app drawer.
08:24And that's pretty much it for the exclusive AI tools that you can use on the nothing phone.
08:30Well, besides Gemini, of course, but every other Android has that already.
08:33Now, when you flip things over to One UI, it's just way more powerful in almost every area.
08:40Customization, exclusive features, AI tools, the whole package.
08:43If you can think of something you want to do or an action that you want done, One UI can
08:48probably do it.
08:49Especially with the Good Luck app, you can practically change the entire look of the OS.
08:53Now, I already made a video going over all the new software changes found on the S26.
08:58I'll link it in the cards, but I'll quickly go through some of my favorites.
09:01First, and this one's super underrated, automation.
09:05It's literally this feature within Gemini where you can just tell your phone what you want done and it'll do
09:11it for you.
09:12Order me an Uber to the Ontario airport.
09:15Like if you need an Uber to the airport, it'll open the app for you, type everything in and find
09:20rides all in the background while you're doing something else.
09:23Then when it's done, it'll just notify you when it's ready.
09:26It's actually kind of wild and really useful and literally no other phone can do this.
09:30The second thing I love is obviously the privacy display.
09:33Everyone's heard about this feature by now, but it's this feature that you can toggle on and it blocks the
09:38side viewing angles so no one around you can see what you're doing.
09:42It's like those cheap privacy screen protectors, but since it's built right into the display at pixel level, you can
09:48set it to turn on automatically for certain apps.
09:50Or even better, hide specific stuff like your pin or notifications so only you can see the sensitive bits.
09:57It's next level privacy.
09:59The third thing I love about the S26 is all the new AI tools it comes with.
10:03First, there's finder search, which is way better than nothing's essential search because it's actually context aware.
10:10So let's say you just landed somewhere and you need to find your hotel info.
10:13You can literally just type hotel and it'll pull up your reservation instantly.
10:17No digging through emails, no extra details needed.
10:20It just knows.
10:21Or there's also Now Nudge, which is this new tool that lives on the keyboard.
10:25Basically, it pays attention to what you're talking about within a messaging conversation and pulls up helpful info right when
10:32you need it.
10:32Like let's say you went on a trip with a friend and later they text you asking for those pics
10:37that you took.
10:38Boom, the keyboard will pop it up with a shortcut to share those photos instantly.
10:42Or let's say a friend wants to hang out on a specific day.
10:46Now Nudge will check your calendar and let you know if you're free by showing your events right there.
10:51It's basically those little things that save you from digging through emails or jumping between apps.
10:56Even photo editing is easier.
10:58There's a new photo assist tool where you can literally just type what you want to change and it'll do
11:03it.
11:03Like here's a photo of a cake with the missing slice.
11:06We just hold it to fill it in and it did.
11:09Pretty genius.
11:10And yeah, some of these features actually started on the Google Pixels, but it's actually nice to have them here
11:15on the S26.
11:16And also one thing on the S26 devices is that they're also the first Android phones to support Apple's AirDrop
11:22feature.
11:23Currently, it's still rolling out to more countries, but I've been loving being able to transfer files to my iPhone
11:28friends way more easily.
11:30Something that the nothing phone just won't be able to do yet.
11:33And honestly, that's just the tip of the iceberg.
11:36There's so much more you can do with One UI.
11:38It's insane.
11:39So yeah, in terms of looks, I prefer nothing OS.
11:42But when it comes to features, customization, functionality, and AI tools, One UI wins pretty easily.
11:50All right, performance.
11:51Honestly, both phones feel smooth for everyday stuff.
11:55Scrolling around, navigating the OS, switching between apps, texting, no issues on either.
12:01But once you start pushing them like gaming, video editing, heavy multitasking, the Galaxy just pulls ahead pretty easily.
12:09On the nothing phone, I noticed a few lag spikes in bigger games while the Galaxy stayed super smooth.
12:14It also ran smoother too, the Galaxy, which was nice.
12:18And that mostly just comes down to the hardware.
12:21The S26 Ultra has a newer, more powerful chipset.
12:24It's packing the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the 4A Pro uses the older Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
12:31The Samsung also has way more RAM, 12 gigabytes, upgradeable to 16, while the nothing just starts at 8 gigabytes
12:39and can be upgraded to 12 gigabytes.
12:43So yeah, with all the extra money that you're paying for, you're going to be getting a much faster phone
12:47here.
12:47But honestly, if you're not a heavy gamer or you're not doing intensive stuff like video editing or hard multitasking,
12:53the 4A Pro will serve you just fine on your everyday tasks.
12:57Now for the displays, both of them have an amazing OLED panel and each has their advantages.
13:03The Galaxy is slightly bigger at 6.9 inches versus 6.8 on the nothing phone.
13:08And it has a way better resolution, Quad HD+, compared to nothing's 1.5K.
13:14But the nothing phone gets slightly brighter with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits versus 2,600 nits on
13:21the Galaxy.
13:22And it has a higher refresh rate at 144Hz instead of 120Hz.
13:27Honestly though, I didn't really notice a huge difference with that refresh rate, even while gaming.
13:33As for the battery, the nothing phone actually lasted a bit longer for me, but not by a lot.
13:37I was getting around 7 hours of screen on time, and then on the Galaxy I would get around 6
13:41hours with pretty normal use.
13:43They both have around the same capacity, 5,000 mAh on the S26 Ultra, and then 5,080 mAh on
13:51the nothing.
13:52If I had the version from India, I'd be getting even more capacity at 5,400 mAh.
13:57But even though both phones have similar battery capacities, nothing pulls ahead, most likely because, I mean, software is lighter
14:04and the display's resolution isn't as demanding.
14:08When it comes to charging, the Galaxy charges faster, but not by a lot.
14:1260 watt wired versus 50 watt on the nothing.
14:15Plus, with the S26 Ultra, you also get wireless charging at up to 25 watts with Qi 2.2 supported,
14:22but no magnets.
14:24And 4.5 watt reverse wireless charging.
14:27On the nothing phone, you don't get any wireless charging at all.
14:29Now, for the cameras, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has a way more stacked setup.
14:34I mean, you get four cameras on the back, including that 200 megapixel main, plus two zoom lenses, telephoto lenses,
14:41and a 50 megapixel ultra wide.
14:43While the nothing phone keeps it simpler with a triple camera setup, but still has a solid 50 megapixel main,
14:49a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto, and an 8 megapixel ultra wide.
14:54When it came to photos, both did just fine during the day. Great detail on both.
14:58But the Galaxy is just way more consistent overall.
15:01Whether day or night, photos look sharper and clearer on the Galaxy.
15:06One thing I noticed, though, is that the Galaxy actually tended to slightly oversaturate and brighten shots a bit more
15:11to make them pop.
15:12So, on some occasions, the nothing phone actually delivered more natural-looking shots with more accurate colors, contrast, and exposure.
15:21Zooming in was also very interesting. The nothing phone can technically zoom in farther, up to 140x, while the Samsung
15:28maxes out at 100x.
15:30But I'd say the nothing phone does way more processing to bring out detail in far away objects, and sometimes
15:37it's just too much.
15:38You'll start to see things look a bit too soft and even glow in certain shots.
15:43The Galaxy just looks more clean and controlled when zooming in, even at extreme lengths.
15:48For nighttime shots, I was honestly surprised. Even though the Galaxy gave me better results, the nothing phone held up
15:55pretty well with the main camera.
15:57Sometimes the shots even looked better than the Galaxy, with more realistic colors, darker skies, and better lighting within smaller
16:04light sources like lamp posts or signage.
16:06But once you start to switch lenses, like to the ultrawide or the telephoto lens, that's when the nothing phone
16:12just completely falls apart.
16:14Everything goes dark, muted, and you can barely see any detail.
16:18And even when you switch to different camera modes, like the portrait, neither phone impressed me, but the Galaxy is
16:25still clearly better.
16:26So in the end, while the Galaxy definitely has a better overall camera system, the nothing phone isn't too far
16:32behind, especially with daylight shots.
16:34It's really at night and with the extra telephoto lenses and zooming in where Samsung really pulls ahead.
16:41So after using the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the nothing phone 4a Pro for the past few weeks, here's the
16:47bottom line.
16:48The Galaxy S26 Ultra is easily the better phone overall. No surprise there.
16:52It's more powerful, faster, has better cameras, way more features, stronger build quality, longer software support.
16:59It just does everything at a really high level. If you want the absolute best and don't mind paying for
17:05it, this is the one to get.
17:07But at the same time, I totally get it. $1,300 is a lot.
17:12On the flip side though, the nothing 4a Pro actually stood its ground really well against this behemoth.
17:17I mean, this phone is great for someone who wants something different, something with personality.
17:22You're getting a phone that looks more unique with a way more exciting design than the Galaxy.
17:27It's also got a stock-like Android experience with no bloatware and some fun community-driven features.
17:33It's even super easy to root too if you're still into that.
17:35Plus, it's also got a better battery life than the Galaxy, a similar charging speed, similar screen size, faster refresh
17:43rate,
17:43fairly solid camera quality that may not be quite as good as the Galaxy's but is still more than fine.
17:50And honestly, for $500, this is a great bang for your buck. Totally worth saving on $800.
17:55And honestly, that's what makes this comparison so interesting.
17:58One is the best of the best and the other just proves that you don't always need to spend a
18:03fortune just to get a great smartphone experience.
18:05Now, the other alternative to get if you still want that Galaxy experience without breaking the bank is the Galaxy
18:12S25 FE.
18:13It's starting at around $650, literally half the price of the Ultra.
18:18And honestly, you're not giving up as much as you'd think.
18:21You get a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, a capable triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel main shooter,
18:27and a 4,900 mAh battery that easily gets you through the day.
18:31Plus, under the hood, it's running the new Exynos 2400, the same chip that powered last year's S24 flagship,
18:39so it still feels fast and snappy for everyday stuff, even gaming.
18:43Plus, it ships with Android 16 and One UI 8,
18:46and Samsung's promising seven years of OS updates too on this phone.
18:50So there you go, you have that option as well if you still want to stay on the Galaxy side
18:54but not spend a fortune.
18:56But still, the nothing phone 48 Pro is even cheaper than that, and I think it's a great bang for
19:00your buck.
19:01Either way, you really can't go wrong with any of these phones.
