00:00ColorOS 17 is finally here and there's actually a lot that's changed and to be
00:03honest this update even feels like a new chapter for Oppo itself. Everything just
00:08feels a lot smoother. The interface is actually more fun to use and it even has
00:12some really nice personal touches that I really enjoyed using. I'll go over
00:15everything. I'd even go as far as to say that ColorOS has gotten so smooth that I
00:21find Oppo to just really be the leader in delivering a smooth Android experience
00:24overall. It really is that great. I mean for starters they created a completely
00:28new design language called living flow design and it's just made using the
00:32whole system that much smoother. The whole idea was just to make the whole UI just
00:35feel a lot more fluid and responsive no matter what icon or element that you tap
00:40on. Like a lot of the animations have been updated with new effects and movements
00:44even the little things. I mean scrolling through a menu, switching between the
00:48notifications and control center, pulling up the smart sidebar. They all have this
00:52more elastic, bouncier feel that I really love. It might not sound like much but the
00:56attention to detail is pretty wild here and that's just what makes Oppo just feel
00:59like it's setting the standard for fluid design. They really nailed it here. Even
01:03the transitions feel way more natural and continuous to use. Oppo calls it fluid
01:07motion. For example, just take a look at the clock on the always-on display. When
01:11you turn it on, the time transitions really nicely to the one on your lock
01:13screen and then when you unlock the phone even further, it just keeps
01:17transitioning perfectly to the widget on your home screen. It's really nice and it
01:21doesn't even matter which clock style you have on or where you position the
01:24clock. The transition happens nonetheless, which I really enjoyed. And as I started
01:28to explore more of ColorOS 17, I just started to notice more and more of these
01:32newer animations with that continuous fluid motion. I love it. Even in the
01:36tiniest spots too, which honestly just made using ColorOS a lot more fun to use.
01:40Also, can we just take a second to appreciate just how good Oppo's Flux
01:44themes look? I mean seriously, no matter which one you choose, they make your
01:47lock screen just look amazing. Especially the new Mountain Way theme where the
01:50entire scene actually starts spinning the mountain and the clouds around the
01:54moment you just wake up the phone. It looks so cool. And for that cherry on top
01:57too, it also follows your weather conditions too. So if it's raining outside,
02:01it'll rain on the lock screen or if it's sunny, the same thing on your lock screen.
02:04It's great. Another thing I noticed too is that Oppo also redesigned a lot of the
02:08interface with rounder elements and a softer, more translucent look, which they're
02:12calling luminous effect. For instance, all the live alerts have new looking icons and a
02:17translucent background so you can see what's behind them. I especially love the
02:21new music player because when you're playing music, the progress bar has this
02:25new lighting effect that kind of reminds me of a lightsaber. It's pretty nice to
02:28look at. But even more dramatic, your notifications and quick settings panel are
02:32now entirely translucent as well and see-through. They kind of look like they're
02:35made out of glass. And again, as you start using the phone, you'll start to notice all
02:39the newly updated translucent icons and buttons around the entire UI. It's a
02:43really nice touch. And when you combine that with the more responsive animations,
02:48the fluid clock transitions, and even the way the lighting helps draw your
02:51attention to certain elements, the whole experience just feels a lot more natural
02:55and enjoyable. But okay, so Oppo has made the entire system look a lot better and
02:59feel smoother to use. That's great and all, but what about actual new features? Did
03:04they introduce any? Well, they did. And there's actually a bunch. First off, there's
03:08this new stackable widget that you can add to your home screen called AI Mindsuggest.
03:12And it's been pretty useful to have because it proactively surfaces the exact
03:15info I need, right when I need it. Like if I'm traveling, it brings up all my
03:19flight information, like what time my flight leaves, which gate I need to head
03:23to, a countdown until departure, and even alerts me if something gets delayed or
03:28disrupted. And it works for trains as well, too, if you're traveling that way. But
03:32when I'm not traveling, it shows me other useful info, like my step count for the
03:35day, the weather, Spotify, and even app suggestions. It basically combines several
03:40widgets into one, and then suggest them based on what you've got going on for
03:43the day. And you can even modify the style of the widget, too, which is nice. Now
03:47when it comes to editing your photos, that has also gotten a lot easier with
03:50ColorOS 17, because when you jump into the photo editing page, you can tap on AI
03:55Editor, and there's a new feature called AI Photo Agent. In that menu, you can just
03:59describe and type out what you'd like to change in that photo supernaturally, like
04:03you can just talk to it like a friend. And then you can remove things from the
04:06background, maybe add clouds to the sky, or just change things that you don't like
04:10about the photo. Even cooler, you can import one of your past photos so that you
04:14can use that as a reference for where you're trying to make your current photo
04:17look like. So you can have it borrow the same type of lighting, the color or skin
04:21texture, whatever you like. It just makes editing your photos just feel extremely
04:24natural and effortless, so you don't need to be a genius or a Photoshop expert. But
04:29even cooler, you can also use their templates, too, to just help you improve your
04:32photos with one tap. Like they have some that can improve the lighting, there's others that
04:36just retouch the subject's face to make their skin glow or make them look more natural.
04:41Just random things that you may want to add to your photos to fix them up quickly and
04:44just make them look even better, very effortlessly. It's honestly been really nice editing photos
04:48in this update. ColorOS 17 also introduced a new app called OC. It uses your camera and
04:54AI to recognize the scene around you, and it can analyze anything that you take a picture
04:58of and give you information about it. For example, it can identify plants and animals, analyze food
05:03and give you nutritional information about where you're about to eat, which I use all the time,
05:07and it can recognize QR codes and app links. But personally, what I used it the most for was for
05:12scanning documents in high quality and quickly saving them to my phone. That was really nice to have.
05:17I also used it to translate anything around me, including when I was traveling and going to
05:21restaurants so I could just translate their menus really easily. That was really useful. From there,
05:26there's AI Mindspace, which has also been upgraded with a few new features. Now, if you never heard
05:30of this before, you can just think of it as a super organized junk drawer for all the random things
05:35that you want to save on your phone. So let's say you're scrolling through an article and you come
05:38across a post that you may want to check out later. Instead of taking a screenshot or trying to remember
05:43where you saw it, you can simply swipe up with three fingers or press the snap key and it'll automatically
05:49save it to Mindspace. And from there, if you tap on the notifications, you can have the AI analyze
05:53whatever you saved and it'll give you a quick summary of what you just saved, which is great.
05:58And now with ColorOS 17, you can do even more with it. For example, you can save entire long
06:04documents without having to take a bunch of separate screenshots and it'll still analyze
06:08everything and summarize it for you. You can also save links to YouTube and TikTok videos, which is
06:12great when you come across something that you want to revisit. And there's even a new Smart Collections
06:17feature that automatically organizes everything that you've saved into different groups,
06:21making it a lot easier to find things later on. Oppo also released AI Live Interpreter for
06:25supported earbuds. Basically, when you use earbuds like the Enco X4 or OnePlus Buds Pro 4,
06:31you can start to have a conversation with someone who speaks a foreign language
06:35and then this feature will just translate what you're saying in real time
06:38so that way you guys can have a conversation face to face. And even cooler, the entire conversation
06:43will be displayed on the phone so that way both of you can follow along. It's pretty great for traveling.
06:48But by far, my favorite new addition to ColorOS 17 just has to be AI Mindpilot. This is probably one
06:54of the biggest features that Oppo introduced because they literally built in an agent inside
06:58of it that can do tasks for you and literally have the phone take over the entire screen.
07:03It's actually the first Android phone to have this built natively into the OS, which is pretty wild.
07:07And on top of that, Mindpilot just brings together the best AI services on the market in one place.
07:12This includes ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and more. So instead of jumping between different AI apps,
07:19you can just open Mindpilot and ask your question and even compare the answers between different AI
07:23models right there. But again, the agent mode was by far my favorite new feature because I could just
07:28do so much with it. For instance, here's a good use case that I had. I'm going to Paris next
07:33month
07:33for a work trip so that way I can record a new phone that's coming out. And on top of
07:37that,
07:37I have an extra three days to explore. So what I did is I had Mindpilot come up with an
07:42amazing
07:42itinerary for when I visit. The great thing is that since I have my hotel bookings, the dates
07:47that I go to the actual work conference event and all the flight tickets all saved on my phone,
07:52I could just give the Mindpilot app a quick command to just create an itinerary for things to do
07:57when I'm free. And in a few seconds, it brought all of those scattered files with random file names
08:02together in one folder and renamed them based on their content and date. And then from there,
08:06it even created a whole PDF with a three day itinerary on what I could do and what I could
08:12book so I can make the most out of my free time. It was really great. And it was really
08:16easy. It's
08:16pretty crazy. But you can also have it do a lot more than that. Like you can have to research
08:20some
08:21of the best stocks that you can currently invest in and why, and it'll make an entire PDF watch list,
08:26or you can have to research whatever you want. But what's especially impressive is that it can
08:30actually work with the files that you already have saved on your phone. It's actually Android's first AI
08:34agent that can organize your local data, which is pretty cool. For instance, I had to reorganize
08:39my downloads folder so that my PDF files and my Word documents could be in separate folders.
08:43I could also rename a bunch of files all at once. For instance, in my downloads folder,
08:47I renamed all the audio files in there to just have Android to be at the beginning of their name,
08:52which is pretty funny. I also had to modify my pictures like I wanted to create a nice Instagram
08:56story with my YouTube thumbnail, so I can just let people know that my new video is live. So I
09:02had to
09:02create a nice template that I could just use and post quickly. Those are just a few use cases that
09:07I
09:07did. There are just so many more things that you can do with it. Even more, I can connect it
09:11to
09:11Oppo's AI Mindspace, so everything you save on your phone connects to the new Mindpilot app,
09:16giving you a better sense of what you like, and then it lets you even ask more questions about what
09:20you
09:20saved. It's pretty great. Now currently, AI Mindpilot's Agent Mode is officially partnering with
09:25Manus to just bring Manus's full agenda capabilities to the phone, and they also support JAT-GPT, too,
09:32they're even free right now, so you don't have to pay for anything. If you're concerned about your
09:36privacy, don't worry either. The agent runs locally on the phone, so you don't have to worry about your
09:41data getting sent to the cloud without you knowing, and if a task ever does require uploading content
09:47to an external service, it will always ask for your permission first, just keeping you in complete
09:52control of your data. Now those are pretty much all the biggest new features found in ColorOS 17,
09:56and honestly, I found quite a few of them to just be really useful, especially AI Mindpilot. That was
10:03easily one of my favorites because again, it's the first time that I've actually had an AI agent build
10:07directly onto the phone that can just do more than answer questions. But when it comes to performance,
10:12how does this update actually feel? Well, for me personally, I found it to be a lot smoother.
10:17Of course, the UI got a huge visual improvement with all those fluid motion effects, but under the
10:22hood, OPPO also made some pretty big changes to just help everything run faster and more efficiently.
10:28I mean, for starters, there's a new luminous rendering engine, which basically makes it so that your phone
10:32doesn't have to work as hard to display everything on your screen. In fact, OPPO claims that it can
10:37reduce the amount of processing needed by up to 30% in certain situations. And that's pretty impressive
10:42because it just means that you can still enjoy all those beautiful animations, lighting effects,
10:47and transitions without having them put so much strain on your phone. And then there's another
10:52improvement called the Laminar Flow Engine, which does a better job of just managing all the apps and
10:56tasks that are running in the background. So whether you're opening apps, scrolling through your gallery,
11:01or switching between apps, everything should feel a lot more responsive. OPPO even claims that app launch
11:06times have improved by up to 55%, gallery thumbnails can load up to 50% faster, and the phone can
11:12keep
11:12over 25% more apps running in the background, which is great because it means you're less likely to have
11:17apps just constantly restarting when you switch back to them. And what I really found interesting
11:21too is that OPPO isn't just focusing on making your phone faster too, they're also trying to keep it
11:26running more smoothly years down the road. Apparently in their simulated testing, even after six years of use
11:32and with your storage almost completely full, the phone can still maintain over 90% of its original
11:38smoothness. Now obviously I can't test six years of usage right now, but I do like that they're putting
11:43some effort into making sure that your phone doesn't start to feel sluggish as it gets older. Now let's
11:48talk about all the new security and privacy features that they brought into this massive update. First
11:52off, there's this new feature called AI Call Guard, which I actually think is really useful, especially
11:57with how convincing AI scams are getting nowadays. Basically when you're on a video call or a regular
12:02phone call with someone, it can actually try to detect whether that person is using an AI face swap
12:07or an AI generated voice to just impersonate somebody else. And if it does detect something suspicious,
12:13it'll actually warn you about it. I think that's pretty awesome because scammers in general are just
12:17getting a lot more creative, especially with AI, and having an extra layer of protection like this
12:22could definitely come in handy someday. From there, there's also this engine called the Private
12:26Computing Cloud that also protects all the data your phone uses for cloud-based processing by these
12:32AI features that I just talked about. So you don't have to worry about your data being used in a
12:36manipulative way. And even better with ColorOS 17, there's even more transparency now because you can
12:42actually obtain a transparency report in the settings of all the AI services that you have been using,
12:48which shows you what operations were done and at what time. It's very nice. So that way you can make
12:53sure
12:53that the AI isn't always running in the background without you knowing about it. And finally, as if
12:58that wasn't enough to strengthen the security even more, with data transmission, ColorOS 17 now uses a
13:03dual encryption system that's designed to just provide an extra layer of security, including
13:08protection against potential future attacks involving quantum computers. So even as these newer
13:14types of security threats start to emerge, OPPO has already taken steps to just help keep your
13:19information protected, which is definitely nice to see. So overall with ColorOS 17, I gotta say,
13:24this is definitely a nice polished update. If you're wondering when this will roll out to your phone,
13:28here are the scheduled dates for each device. It's not necessarily their biggest update,
13:33but the little improvements they added just make the whole OS just feel much better to use.
13:37I do love the new design language they made, living flow design, especially all the new smoother
13:41animations and transitions because they just made using the phone just feel more alive. And I generally also
13:46loved using a lot of the new AI features like Mindpilot. That was great. But that's just my
13:51experience. Let me know down in the comments what you guys think about this update. If you want to
13:55keep watching, tap this video to learn about ColorOS 16 and see all the new features found within that
14:00past update. Thanks for watching till the end and I'll catch you guys in the next one. Kapow!
