00:03Not a very good show last night.
00:05Just give me your takeaways on what you saw with the Lions performance last night against the Bills.
00:10Yeah, first of all, you're looking at a tired guy, man.
00:13Dan, I didn't get in my bed until 4 o'clock this morning.
00:18Long trip, delay after the game, but very disappointing.
00:22Very disappointing with the way that we played.
00:25And I think the most disappointing part, Dan, and you know this, you don't look at it from a physical
00:33standpoint, but the mental standpoint of how we lost that game, meaning miscommunication in the secondary that led to a
00:43lot of guys running wide open for Josh Allen.
00:46Self-inflicted wounds when I started talking about the penalties, especially the pre-snap penalties that we had in that
00:55game that really stopped drives.
00:58And then thirdly, we knew coming into that game, our defense had played 91 plays versus the Saints four days
01:07earlier.
01:07And then we started off the game putting our defense on the field for the majority, I would say, of
01:14that first half because the offense didn't get anything going.
01:18It put a lot of pressure on our defense.
01:21So hopefully we're able to catch up with Lomas Brown again and reconnect with him here.
01:30Maybe we could get it connected back here with him here, but I will say this to you, too.
01:35At the end of the day, one of the biggest things that I thought was an issue last night was
01:40obviously containing Josh Allen last night.
01:43And the defense, Lomas just was hitting on it there when he said that, you know, those guys had played
01:49a boatload of plays against the Saints in week one.
01:54And then you go out there. And I think that that was definitely a priority of Joe Brady and the
02:00offense here.
02:00And let me get back to Lomas. Let me get back to Lomas here.
02:04Lomas, do you think that that was maybe one of the game plans also knowing that you guys because you
02:08just mentioned it, that it was you guys had played 91 plays and that they were going to run Josh
02:13Allen around and keeping him contained was going to wear that Lions defense out.
02:18Maybe that was one of the priorities that they had going into that game as a game plan.
02:22I think it had to be, Dan, and excuse me for my technology, my technical difficulties over here, but I
02:30think that had to be.
02:31I think you hit it right on the head because, again, think about it.
02:36We've coined flip. They won the flip. A lot of times you will have the team defer, right?
02:42They didn't defer. They wanted Josh Allen on that field for the first series.
02:47They wanted to get that crowd into a frenzy, keep that crowd going because the crowd was incredible last night.
02:56And I do think, like you said, knowing that we had played 91 plays defensively against the Saints and only
03:04four days of rest, you know, that they could take advantage of a tired defense.
03:10And that's exactly what they did to us last night.
03:15You got to give them kudos, though, because they came in ready to play.
03:19Don't forget now, they played on Sunday, too.
03:22So they were on four days rest, but they came ready to play, and it sure proved out early in
03:28the game.
03:28Was the difference, in your opinion, the containment of Allen and keeping him in the box?
03:34Because, I mean, listen, he is spectacular.
03:37We all know this.
03:38But was it really just setting the edge that was really the issue in this ballgame last night?
03:43Well, I think, yeah, that was part of the issue because, again, even when they did set the edge,
03:50he would find a way to maneuver and still break, get out of there.
03:55So I thought that was part of the issue.
03:58But, again, Dan, you can't give that type of offense, that type of player opportunities.
04:06What we needed to do was to shorten the game, keep him and his offense on the sideline,
04:13keep Jarrett Goff and our offense out there on the field.
04:17And I thought we were going to be able to do that by running Jameer, picking up first downs,
04:24eating up the clock, maybe going to our short passing games to use that as the run, too.
04:30But it never materialized for us.
04:33Josh Allen did some incredible things.
04:36I think James Cook, them getting James Cook in the game late, I think that helped them.
04:41But this guy is something else, man.
04:44Just to see him out there, how he masters that offense,
04:48and how he can extend plays with his legs, man, that's what makes this guy really special.
