00:00Oh man, this is good. D1 was on The Breakfast Club recently and they asked him who determines

00:06righteousness. For those of you that don't know, D1 is a Christian rapper. He's been around a long

00:10time and he is able to be in a lot of secular rap spaces, preaching the good news of Jesus

00:15Christ,

00:16making really good arguments about culture especially, and has come against things like

00:20strip clubs or the language we use, what we're glorifying in our music, stirred up a lot of

00:25conversation around these different points because he comes from a Christian background,

00:29but also understands the implications that a lot of this negative music has on children especially,

00:34but just people in general. And so he is able to just be in a lot of different places and

00:39ends up

00:40being able to talk about Christ and preach the good news. D1 made a statement about some of our

00:44favorite rappers going to hell. He said, some of these people that we look up to, these rappers,

00:50they're actually spending eternity in hell because D1 understands that the only way to get to heaven

00:55is through Jesus Christ. And they confront him on The Breakfast Club with this question.

01:00And this conversation is so interesting and it's so necessary. We need to be having this

01:05conversation more and more. And so shout out to D1 for having it, for standing on truth. But man,

01:09you have to hear what they challenge him on. This is the culture that we live in, the Western

01:26Like who gets to define righteousness? Is it you? Is it Christianity? Is it scripture? Is it community

01:31standards? I have a question. When you talk about Tupac, right? I've heard you say that some of our

01:34like rap OGs are probably burning in hell. Yeah. Right? That's hard. Yeah. Hey, y'all want to sit

01:39there for a second? Please explain that and then I'll get back to what I was saying. All right. All

01:42right,

01:43sweetie. If we believe in God, do we believe in the devil? All right. If we believe in heaven,

01:47do we believe in hell? Absolutely. All right. If we believe in Jesus, I heard you pray in the name

01:52of Jesus the other day, right? You believe in Jesus, right? Do you believe Jesus is a truth

01:56teller or a liar? A truth teller. So Jesus is the one who speaks about hell constantly in the Bible

02:02and Jesus says that he is God and the only way to get to the father is through the son.

02:06Amen. So that

02:06being said, if we see that people clearly and overtly are living a life and pushing the opposite of

02:13everything that God stands for, and if they never even claim any allegiance to God, to Jesus, any of

02:18that stuff, then according to Jesus, not D1, according to Jesus, where are they going? Yeah,

02:22but you're basing that off how you know. Right. No, I'm basing that on the word of God. I don't

02:27know

02:27you. I know you as a person, right? But I don't know what you do throughout the day, all day,

02:31every day. I don't know the whole totality of your life. And it's the same thing with those

02:34brothers that you said are in hell. I don't know what their journey was with God. I don't know what

02:38their relationship was. There's no way that a person is sitting here like, man, I love God,

02:43man. This argument falls apart quickly because you can say that someone can present a false

02:49godliness. That is true. The devil comes as an angel of light, deception. There are many people,

02:55false prophets, false teachers. Jesus warns about them, and we'll talk about that in just a second,

03:00so people can present a falsehood about who they really are. No true born again Bible believing Jesus

03:06following Christian is going to present something other than that. They may stumble. They're not

03:12going to be perfect, but they're not going to live an overt, sinful, glorifying sin lifestyle.

03:18They're not going to make their music, their art, their career about glorifying the things that are

03:24abomination and offensive to the holy and perfect God. They're not going to do that. But the other side

03:30is true. You can have people deceiving people with a fake righteousness, a fake godliness. So that's

03:34why the argument doesn't make sense. We see people who are not just living in sin, but actually

03:37promoting sin in a sinful lifestyle for their own gain. They are not going to be followers of Christ,

04:08I love God. I love God. I love Jesus specifically, and I'm trying to live every aspect of my life

04:13to push his word and his love, right? But every day, what I'm choosing to publicly push and promote

04:19is the exact opposite of it. I'm pushing the glorification of murder, drug dealing, disrespecting

04:24I agree with that because you got people in the church that are publicly these people for God

04:27and so righteous, but privately they are horrible and they are hell. And when you go see God and you

04:32go talk to who you talking to, you're going to go to heaven or hell, and you don't even know

04:35that.

04:35I didn't say that that's not true. But I'm saying if that's true, how is your point true too?

04:39They are both true. Two things could be true at the same time. But you can't critique people as if

04:42only one thing is true is my point, and that's how it's sometimes. Y'all want me to go to

04:45the

04:45scripture to say people are going to go to hell? No, no, I'm not saying people go to hell. I'm

04:48just

04:49saying what gets you there. Yeah, how do we know? It's so crazy to me that they're comparing

04:52faking being righteous to someone faking being unrighteous because people don't fake being

04:59unrighteous. People just are unrighteous. It's not something that someone is going to go out and

05:03live an unrighteous lifestyle while truly having a relationship with God because he would change

05:08their life. He would work on them. So again, that just doesn't make sense. And we're going to look

05:12some scripture here in just a moment. But let's finish watching this. Without a shadow of a doubt.

05:16That person is in hell. I didn't say young Miami was going to hell.

05:22Don't make that the hell out. Is young Miami going to hell because you may spin that?

05:26No, no, no, no. How many times you hear somebody that did not believe in God their whole life,

05:30right? And right before they die, they wake up and they have the light and they say, I believe in

05:34God.

05:34I've seen him. Does that person go to hell? Because it's 60 years, 70 years on this earth. He didn't

05:38believe in

05:38God. He didn't pray to God. But that one moment before he died, he got the light on because you

05:42hear it all the time. And now all of a sudden they believe. Yeah. Does that person go to jail?

05:46That's an amazing question. I believe that person, if that act of repentance and accepting

05:50the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior right before they died, if that happened, I believe that person

05:54is going to heaven, right? I believe that person is going to heaven, but they spent, they actually

05:58wasted their whole life leading a bunch of other people down the wrong path. Yeah. So a hundred percent.

06:03I mean, the thief on the cross, we see that he gives his life to Jesus right before

06:08he dies and he'll be, he'll be in paradise, right? All the only thing it takes is accepting Jesus

06:13Christ as our Lord and Savior to get into heaven. It's actually known of people who have accepted

06:17Christ right before they died, whether they knew they were going to die or not. And I believe they're

06:21in heaven because they truly accepted Christ. Now to D1's point, yeah, you did, you wasted your life

06:25because you should be living your life to glorify and honor the Lord and be in his will and to

06:29help

06:29expand the kingdom of God. But we can't take back what they did. We can only celebrate that they did

06:34truly accept Jesus Christ as their Lord. But the question is, if they're going to heaven,

06:37and that one artist that you said, that one artist that did all that, right before that

06:42artist dies, he had that wake up moment. Say y'all, say y'all, say y'all. I'm just asking.

06:45No, no, no, no. Whenever you say that's how I feel, because I'm like, when I heard you say

06:48that, it did make me cringe. I'm like, damn, D1, how you know they didn't have it? I'm going to

06:51tell

06:51y'all this. I'm going to tell y'all this. Listen, brother. How many of y'all ever been shot

06:53before?

06:54I've never been shot. Never been shot. Thank God. Praise God.

06:57Praise God. Thank God. Been shot at it a couple times. Hit my car, but I have never been shot.

07:01Hey, that bullet come quick. That bullet come quick. So if you ain't had that moment to the

07:08point where like, hey, and I got a certain audience in mind when I say this, but I'm trying

07:12not to be that dude. I'm trying not to be that dude. Bro, if everything you was doing and living

07:17and publicly promoting up until that point was glorifying everything that the devil loves,

07:23and then that bullet hits you, you heard me? And you ain't know that mother was finna hit you.

07:26It wasn't a slow motion bullet. You gone.

07:31Oh, you think that person in heaven? You don't know because you don't know what he was doing

07:34in his life. I started what you saw publicly. Come on. This is the problem with Western

07:40Christianity. You do know based on someone's fruit, right? You do know. And again, I know

07:44there's deception, but no one's deceiving unrighteousness. No one's accepting Christ as

07:48their Lord, living for Jesus, and then deceiving people with unrighteousness. That's not something

07:52that people do. It makes no sense to me to keep bringing this up as an argument. You do know

07:58people who glorify what the devil loves and what is offensive to God and what the things that put

08:03Jesus on the cross to begin with, the sin, they're glorifying the sin. They're promoting it. They're

08:08affirming it. They're celebrating it. If that is the lifestyle they lived and then they die,

08:13they are going to hell because they didn't know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. And no one

08:18knows the heart of man except for the Lord. But again, we can tell with some people, we know their

08:23fruits. We know their fruits. There's always this minor kind of gray area of, you know, if someone

08:30got shot up and they lived a lifestyle of glorifying sin through their music, maybe the night before they

08:35got shot, they gave their life to Jesus Christ and nobody knew about it. And obviously all their

08:38records of music we have from years past, we just think, oh, they're on their way. There's always that

08:43chance that maybe that night before or that morning or whatever happened right before they were killed

08:48or they died, that they gave their life to Christ. There's always that chance. But using common sense

08:53logic and understanding what the scripture says would tell us like, hey, someone who lives this

08:57lifestyle doesn't really know the Lord. And if they die, they're going to go to hell. And we don't

09:01need to really overcomplicate it or nuance it to death just because it appeases the flesh to know like

09:06that person, I really appreciated their art, their books, their music, their movies, their whatever they

09:11did to become famous. And I love them so much. And they're so talented and gifted. And they were so

09:16pivotal in the space that they were in. Okay. But if they don't know Jesus Christ, they're going to

09:19hell. Like it's just point blank period. If you don't know Christ, you don't get into the father's

09:24house. He's the one who gets you in. I mean, you hear them talking here. We believe in God. We

09:28believe that the devil is, we believe in heaven. We believe that hell is real. We believe Jesus is

09:31real. He's God. We believe he tells the truth. But then the second that truth goes against something

09:36that we like, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. No, no, no. I don't know. It's like, no,

09:41no, no. Be consistent. Be honest. Truth hurts. Truth is harsh. And it is hard sometimes to grasp

09:47the reality that there are a lot of people going to hell. A lot of people we like, and even

09:50a lot

09:51of people we love end up going to hell because they reject Jesus Christ. That is a harsh reality.

09:55It's hard to sit with that sometimes, but that should light a fire in you to continue to spread

10:00the good news of Jesus Christ to as many people as you can, to love people onto Christ the best

10:04you can

10:04to show his kindness and try to bring people to a saving relationship with Jesus. That should fire us up

10:09to do what we need to do, knowing that God is real and he does love everyone and he does

10:13desire

10:13everyone to know him and to spend eternity with him. And he uses us to bring people to him. So

10:19be

10:19used to do that. Do you believe anybody is in hell? Yes. I believe people are there. I don't know

10:26all

10:26the why I haven't checked the attendance record. I don't know. But what I'm saying is that I do think

10:30that there are, I just think that the pulpit can happen in a lot of different places. And I think

10:35when

10:35you talk to people who are trying to believe in religion or spirituality, faith, I know people

10:39try to separate those things. When you talk to them, like it's either, it's so black and white,

10:42it does the opposite of what I think are supposed to be doing. So I don't want for a new

10:47person who's

10:47being introduced to D1 right now, I ain't even gonna go listen to his music or watch his podcast.

10:51Cause it just seemed like he said everybody going to hell and it seemed like nobody like him. And

10:54they're so opposed to him. No, the reality is that by the grace of God, I do, I have had

10:59a way of being

11:00a bridge and infiltrating spaces with the same message to where people are embracing me. Nori,

11:06got me on Drank Champs, talking like what I'm talking, Fat Joe, the Memphis Bleak, all this stuff.

11:11It's to the point to where like the truth might hurt sometimes. What this brother said yesterday,

11:16I was on a plane. I had Wi-Fi. I was like, man, oh, I feel it. What you said

11:20about the N word.

11:21Why are we trying to come up with all these justifications to use a word that was meant to

11:25demean us? That's right. That's right. Thank you, bro. Like, thank you, bro. Thank you for that

11:28boldness. Take that message and apply mine with eternal implication. Come on. Why are we trying

11:33to come up with all these excuses for sin? That's how he ends it. Why are we trying to come

11:36up with

11:36excuses for sin? And he is absolutely right. Why are we trying to come up with excuses for sin?

11:41Because it feels good to the flesh. Because when we're tempted, we either choose, hey, I'm going to

11:45sin or I'm not. I'm going to resist the temptation. And when we don't resist the temptation, it feels good

11:50for a moment. We get trapped in it. That's all this is. It's the flesh. It's justifying the flesh.

11:55When we're saying like, I don't know about that person. I don't know because it doesn't feel

11:58good. It doesn't feel good to say, yeah, they're probably actually in hell. The reality is, and it's

12:02a sad reality that they're probably in hell, but because I respected them and I liked what they did

12:07and they've made such an impact in my life and other people's lives, I don't want to admit that.

12:10But the truth is the truth is the truth. And the second we start trying to water down the truth,

12:16man, then anything goes. And we get a lot of what we're getting now in our culture because anything

12:21goes because we water down the truth and there doesn't have to be a standard and we can do whatever

12:25we

12:25want. It's crazy. But let's look at these scriptures real quick. First, we have Jesus talking about

12:28false prophets. Beware of false prophets. This is Matthew 7, 15. Beware of false prophets

12:31who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their

12:36fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? So every good

12:43tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit,

12:48nor a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown

12:52into the

12:53fire. So then you will know them by their fruits. And actually this goes on to like the most scary

12:58convicting Bible verse in the whole freaking Bible. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord will enter

13:03the kingdom of heaven, but he feels the will of my father who isn't in heaven will enter. So we

13:07have

13:07to understand this analogy of a tree and its fruit. I know he's specifically talking about false prophets

13:12here, but it's a true principle. Good trees produce good fruit. Someone who's good at business

13:18produces successful businesses. Someone who is a good teacher produces students who are well-educated.

13:24Someone who is a good doctor produces healthy patients. It is a standard principle across the

13:28board. The same thing is true with someone's life, man. If they know the Lord, they will produce good

13:32fruit. If they don't know the Lord, they will produce bad fruit. When we're dealing with the

13:36deception, so false prophets again is what Jesus is talking about here. That's where we have to go back

13:40to the fruit. They may be putting on a show, but then we have to get to know, okay, what

13:43fruit are they

13:44actually producing? Are they actually producing good fruit? Let's take a look at it. And does it

13:48align with the word of God? Is what they're doing aligned with the word of God? And I think

13:53these aren't even like, oh, this is someone in the pulpit where it's like we're arguing about like,

13:56oh, you know, are there signs and miracles and wonders legit or not legit? Are they really a man

14:01of God or woman of God? It's like, these are secular artists that were living lifestyles that are

14:05completely contradictory to the word of God and to what Jesus Christ would do in someone's life. He would

14:09free them from the things that they're promoting. And then I think too, it's important to look at

14:12Matthew 10, 32 and 33. Therefore, everyone who confesses me before men, I will also confess him

14:17before my father who is in heaven. But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny him before

14:22my father who is in heaven. So again, it's like this public confession or denial is important.

14:28You know, Jesus is like, you're going to deny me in front of people. I'm going to deny you in

14:31front

14:31of the father because we have to stand bold and have faith in who we really believe Jesus says he

14:36is.

14:36Right. And I do think there's no, we can, we can repent from this. Like we see Peter,

14:39like Peter denied Christ three times. He was able to repent and be redeemed.

14:42For what he did. Right. And he was able to then later confess Christ publicly, you know,

14:47many times and, and obviously went on to do great things, but we have to understand that like,

14:52this is important to recognize if we are watching people who are continuing again to do things

14:57anti-Christ, we can't expect them to be in Christ's kingdom. It's very simple and we don't need to twist

15:02it or dilute it or nuance it to death to try to make it something that it's actually not. Let
