1968 classic Star Trek TV series episode "Assignment Earth" (S.2, E.26) may contain some future Easter Eggs to 12th Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi, Steven Gould's '92 sci-fi novel Jumper & additionally adaptations of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein & the Star Wars franchise.

- Robert Lansing plays a kind of space hopping secret agent in Assignment Earth. Garr, a startled assistant.
- An interesting plot device I only saw used a few times in science fiction involves Gary Seven's technique of opening a vault / safe in his city apartment, which activates a portal that he steps into, transporting him several hundred miles away.
- A bank vault & teleportation are also key aspects to "Time Heist", series 8, Episode 5 of British sci-fi TV series Doctor Who broadcast in 2014.
- Peter Capaldi auditioned for the role of Captain Benjamin Sisko for Star Trek's '93 spinoff series Deep Space Nine (DS9). Avery Brooks eventually played this part. The story involves the Federation manning the abandoned space station of ousted imperialists, The Cardassians, in orbit around a world left in the hands of a theocratic government. A wormhole bridge to another quadrant of the galaxy also exists in space nearby.
- Capaldi played Angus in Ken Russell's '88 comedy / horror The Lair Of The White Worm. The director had previously envisioned Gothic in 1986, a fictionalized retelling of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley's visit to Lord Byron near Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
- Teri Garr later played Dr. Frankenstein's assistant in Mel Brooks '74 comedy Young Frankenstein.
- Doctor Who movie actor Peter Cushing played Dr. Frankenstein in 6 Hammer productions based on the story between 1957 & 1974.
- Cushing is known to Star Wars (1977) audiences as Death Star commander Grand Moff Tarkin.
- Darth Vader actor David Prowse played the monster in The Horror Of Frankenstein (1970).
- Star Wars prequel Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen was also in the 2008 movie adaptation of '92 Steven Gould novel Jumper. This story also features characters teleporting into the secure vaults of major banks.

00:00In this video I'll point out a possible future easter egg to British science fiction tv series
00:05Doctor Who and 12th Doctor actor Peter Capaldi. You can see this in Star Trek the original series
00:14season 2 episode 26 entitled Assignment Earth. Robert Lansing and Terry Garr guest star. The
00:23Enterprise travels back in time to 1968 Earth where they encounter interstellar secret agent
00:31Gary 7. They have to avert a nuclear weapons accident involving the launch of a space rocket.
00:39One interesting thing I noticed is something I saw only in a couple places in science fiction
00:46and this involves the way Gary 7 travels. He has a large a secret vault or safe hidden in his
00:56office.
00:56When he opens this a portal opens up that has a similar effect to a wormhole or a stargate. He's
01:07transported to a location of his choosing. It's a bank vault and teleportation. This was also
01:16featured as a story concept in Time Heist. Episode 5 series 8 of Doctor Who broadcast in 2014.
01:27A cast included Jenna Coleman as companion Clara. So in this story the Doctor and Clara arrive
01:34at a maximum security bank. A heist is planned and part of the operation involves using a transporter
01:43to help them make a clean getaway with the looted money. The future Star Trek connection. It turns out
01:50that Peter Capaldi auditioned for the role of Captain Benjamin Sisko in the Star Trek spinoff TV series
01:59Deep Space Nine. This was in 1992. Avery Brooks eventually played this character. There's another connection
02:08here and it involves adaptations of English author Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. A gothic horror novel
02:17written in 1818. Capaldi played Angus in director Ken Russell's 1988 comedy horror film The Lair of the White Worm.
02:28Hugh Grant, Catherine Oxenberg, Sammy Davis, and Amanda Donahoe were also in this.
02:34Russell had earlier directed a fictionalized retelling of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley's visit to
02:43Lord Byron in Villa Diodati by Lake Geneva Gothic in 1986. This psychological horror featured a cast with
02:54Gabriel Byrne, Julian Sands, Natasha Richardson, and Timothy Spall. Actress Terry Gar of Star Trek Assignment Earth
03:03was also well known for her role as Frankenstein's assistant in the 74 Mel Brooks comedy
03:11Young Frankenstein. This cast featured Gene Wilder, Doctor Who actor Peter Cushion. He appeared in six
03:20Hammer productions of Frankenstein between 1957 and 1974. Cushion played Grand Moff Tarkin
03:29in George Lucas' sci-fi epic Star Wars in 1977. And this leads to another very interesting series of links.
03:42Darth Vader actor David Prowse had played Frankenstein's monster in the horror of Frankenstein in 1970.
03:50Amazingly, Hayden Christensen, future actor who played Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars prequel films
03:59which were released between 99 and 05. He was in a movie whose story also features the concept of teleporting
04:10into the vaults of major banks. This was Jumper in 2008 loosely based on the 92 novel by Stephen Gould.
