00:00uh so denver i want to talk about denver in this segment because we did talk about it a little
00:05bit
00:05but denver was atrocious in this game and you know there there were certain teams like i said
00:14in the beginning the chargers had a bad performance the rams were terrible denver was
00:20and these are teams that a lot of people have in their playoff conversations they're their deep
00:26playoff run conversations and you know they went like i said before they went 14 and 3 last season
00:33only 176 total yards for a sean payton and bo nicks led offense bo nicks was fumbling the ball left
00:42and
00:42right like it felt like he he couldn't get a grip on the on the football for some reason
00:46it slipped out of his hands in the red zone and he was fortunate enough to get the ball back
00:51because
00:51the chiefs defender was out of bounds there were two other plays where it could have been a fumble
00:56and yet it was a forward pass and incomplete it just way out of sorts and uh i know i
01:03mentioned
01:03this before but they only had nine first downs they ran the football only 15 times josh said the rj
01:09harvey
01:09was a non-factor he's right um and denver's only touchdown came in the first quarter right it's
01:16yeah after that it was just a field goal that's it and it's just it's unbelievable for a team like
01:21this that i i actually was pretty high on i thought they were going to win the afc west
01:25but i mean is there concern for you or is like is this like every other team that we talked
01:31about
01:31where it's uh you know it's week one they'll figure it out i i wouldn't say that i'm concerned with
01:37anything that happens in september but i'm aware i'm not concerned right but i'm aware because as
01:43you project out jackson this is their next five games jacksonville is better that they've played
01:50better the jacksonville you get jacksonville in your schedule they can't do nothing they can score
01:56after that you got the rams in week three on nbc now we are we looking at the healthy rams
02:01are we
02:01looking at what what type of rams are we looking at after that you got the 49ers you got the
02:06chargers
02:07what type of charger team are you seeing you got the seahawks and the cardinals who used to be a
02:10pushover they're not anymore and you got the chiefs again so their first ones is three six seven eight
02:17their first eight games is not like last year last year they won more close games than anybody to get
02:23to that record and the number one thing is you do not win close games two years in a row
02:29it just
02:29doesn't happen it doesn't matter who you are and as i look at them again i don't make any concrete
02:35decisions in september about what i think is going to happen because the way i feel about the the lack
02:40of
02:40preseason preparation but there are signs his inability to hold on to the ball that's a sign
02:48now is that a sign of live action lack of live action and and and protecting a football or is
02:55that
02:55a situation where because of the surgery his timing his rhythm is off and you're out there and things
03:02are flying the the chiefs were moving super fast tonight super fast that was one of the things that
03:07shocked me too how fast they played on defense but that's the spagnola spagnola gets after you
03:12with blitzes from all over the place and i and rather than say that they weren't prepared because
03:17i think they were i just think they didn't have enough rhythm to really combat what the chiefs were
03:21doing defensively against them yeah you know you mentioned the offense and and how you know sean
03:28payton kind of just abandoned the run too it's kind of like he just he does that and he does
03:32yeah he does
03:33do that but i think specifically when you mentioned like their record i said 14 and 3 right and you
03:41said
03:41it 11 one score games last season they won 11 of those now i go back to the commanders uh
03:49a couple
03:49years ago and jay daniel's rookie year they won a ton of one score games and they went deep in
03:54the
03:54playoffs since then it hasn't been fun it has not been fun for the commanders how that one score game
04:00work out this weekend they just lost one score game to the eagles now the bears the bears did win
04:06a lot of one score games too and people are saying but it helps when you score 59 and this
04:11is i was
04:11going to say the difference between the bears and this broncos team is i think the bears can put up
04:1745 and be up by two touchdowns as opposed to winning those one score games and this is where i
04:24i have to give bonick's grace going on the operating table and then the first time you're back out there
04:30and live bullets is fresh off the operating table it's the first thing you've done in a football game
04:35that's hard because you got to trust your body you got to trust it's going to respond in a way
04:40it's
04:40supposed to respond they said something on the call that i've always known to be true as an athlete you
04:46could simulate basketball practice as close as you can get to an actual game you can simulate
04:51baseball practice as close as you can to an actual game you cannot assimilate you cannot
04:56simulate a football practice as close as you possibly can to the game because of the injury
05:02possibility you just can't do it it's not possible and so it these guys are literally getting out there
05:09at full game speed for the first time since the last time and so it's to me that's why september
05:16is
05:17very very difficult for me to make any type of real proclamations about what i saw but they were
05:22signs from the broncos in the way that they won last year and and people always believed that bo nicks
05:28was a creation of sean payton and some of the push and pull in the preseason and the conversations that
05:34they were having about the office was bo nicks wanting to do different things to what sean payton
05:39wanted to do i think sean payton won that argument after tonight
