00:00The Denver Broncos have decided to lock up Sean Payton
00:03as Sean Payton had a really nice season, of course, with Denver.
00:06It's a new five-year contract through 2030.
00:09His record is 32-19.
00:12It was one tough year with Payton when he took over the reins in Denver.
00:16And then he said, you know what, Russell Wilson,
00:18we're sending you somewhere else.
00:20And then two years later, he ended up retiring and going to CBS.
00:23They lost to the Patriots 10-7.
00:26But I think that when you look at coaches in the NFL,
00:30and I don't like to look around the league and say they're great coaches
00:34or bad coaches, but there's a group that are probably better than the rest.
00:37And Sean Payton's in that category.
00:41Yeah, I mean, listen, the knock on him was,
00:44oh, what's he going to do without Drew Brees?
00:45Well, there's your answer.
00:47He's going to get a new five-year extension with the Denver Broncos.
00:51And he's doing it with a quarterback that nobody thought could play in the NFL,
00:54ironically enough, out of Oregon here in Bo Nix.
00:58So, yes, you're right.
01:00There are coaches.
01:01And then there's that step above where if he's available,
01:05he will be unemployed for all of 30 seconds if you let him go.
01:10So, if you're Denver, of course you lock him up
01:13because he just wins wherever he goes.
01:16In case you missed this story yesterday,
01:18former Jets first-round linebacker Darren Lee has been indicted on a murder charge
01:23in the death of his 29-year-old girlfriend.
01:27Prosecutors are seeking a first-degree murder conviction,
01:30which carries a life sentence,
01:32and a decision on whether to pursue the death penalty is expected in the coming weeks.
01:37Meanwhile, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts broke his silence on Thursday
01:42in the A.J. Brown trade,
01:44taking the high road saying that nothing can take away the championship
01:48that Brown won with the Philadelphia Eagles
01:50and certainly loved him as a teammate.
01:54Meanwhile, his new teammate is Drake May.
01:57A.J. Brown said he really loves what he sees with his young quarterback.
02:02The talent speaks for itself.
02:04You know, he can make any throw.
02:05But I think what's more impressive to me is that he knows what he's doing.
02:08And to be that young and to understand the defense
02:12and to understand every little check,
02:14the hot, the bliss, and all those things,
02:16so young and so fast, it's very impressive.
02:19So, I really admire that he knows what he's talking about.
02:21He demands everybody else to know as well.
02:25And he's a true leader.
02:26He's a true leader of men.
02:27And it's crazy to see at a young age, you know,
02:31he's a true leader of men.
02:33Joe, there's always this little honeymoon period.
02:35I feel like that's what's happening right now
02:37with A.J. Brown and the New England Patriots here.
02:41Listen, I think he'll help them a lot.
02:43But in the end, I don't know.
02:44Is this a difference-making player for them this year?
02:48I guess the first time I've actually heard him speak
02:51in about, what, three years?
02:53Usually he's just reading books on the sideline
02:56or we're getting some sort of ex-post like it.
03:00So, he does actually speak.
03:02It's amazing what clearing the air,
03:06and like you said, that honeymoon period will do.
03:08What, you didn't have that feeling with Jalen Hurts
03:11when you were with him?
03:12All right, well, we'll see how this all works out, Greg,
03:15by the time November rolls around.
03:16We'll see you next time.
03:16Bye-bye.
