00:30Now that we've seen them play once, and we have an entire weekend of NFL football in the books, and
00:38everyone has played, do you feel better about the Lions?

01:06So, would you describe yourself as feeling better about the Lions, worse about the Lions, or the same about the
01:11Lions?
01:11I lean more towards the same or slightly worse, but I can't say worse, definitively, because there were things that
01:21I thought looked better than I expected them to.
01:23I thought the offensive line played well.
01:25I know that there were, the passing yards were down, but, I mean, they ran for, what, 170, almost 170
01:32yards in the game.
01:33That's pretty good.
01:34But, Jameer Gibbs, even though he had 34 touches, well, give him the ball.
01:39If that's what you need to do to win the game, then go ahead.
01:42And eventually, they won the game.
01:44I thought the pass rush, the pressure they got on Shuck, for the most part, was pretty good.
01:50I thought that New Orleans made adjustments and they got the ball out quicker because of that.
01:56But there are things I didn't like.
01:57I mean, obviously, the concerns over the secondary, that hasn't been alleviated.
02:02Those concerns are still there, for sure.
02:04There were some nice plays made, but there were a lot of breakdowns in coverage, whether that was execution or
02:10player error.
02:11I don't know.
02:12But I have concerns about that.
02:15I have concerns that Jameson Williams dropped three or four passes, whatever the number is.
02:20That was concerning.
02:22But then, if I look at the landscape of the National Football League, and this is where I put it
02:27into perspective, why I'm still where I'm at.
02:30I mean, you've got the teams that played in the Super Bowl last year that both looked like mung last
02:39week when they started the season.
02:40Then I watched the Denver Broncos play last night with a healthy Bo Nix, and they looked awful against the
02:48Kansas City Chiefs.
02:50This is the league.
02:51The league, it's up, it's down, it's all over the place, and you just hope that you can hold your
02:56place in this storm that is the National Football League, and that's where they are.
03:00They're 1-0 to start the season.
03:02And they've got a real tough game at hand on Thursday night in Buffalo, where the crowd is going to
03:08be jacked.
03:08They always are, but now they've got the new stadium they're opening up.
03:12It's Thursday night football.
03:13That means something.
03:14And it's going to be a real tough matchup.
03:18Yeah, I think the one thing that is important to do when trying to evaluate, and that I think is
03:25important to do, trying to evaluate where your team is, is, and we all do this, and I fall into
03:31it as well, but you start evaluating your team against sort of a perfect standard.
03:37Okay, you say, well, here's what, it doesn't look good.
03:41And what's more important than that, but more relevant information, is evaluating your team compared to everyone else in the
03:49league, right?
03:51So we can sit here and talk about how bad the defense looked and how many yards they gave up,
03:57how many points they gave up.
03:59Guess what?
03:59The Bears gave up more, right?
04:02Green Bay gave up more points.
04:04Now, Green Bay was defending short fields a lot because the offense put them in bad spots.
04:08But, yeah, you have to compare them to everybody else.
04:12The biggest point of comparison for the last three, four months has been the Los Angeles Rams.
04:19The Rams not only didn't do anything offensively, they might have what turns into underrated and serious problems defensively.
04:30They're losing their big chip off the edge.
04:32The other thing that people are counting on is kind of an unknown in Aaron Donald.
04:36And he may be very good, but that's a big unknown at this point.
04:43They did a segment on ESPN today where they were talking about secondary issues that they still have.
04:49So if you start comparing the Lions issues to a perfect standard, and they should strive to be perfect, and
04:59we should hope that they are perfect, they come up well short.
05:03If you start comparing the Lions to everyone else in the league, things don't look as bad.
05:09And that's one of the things that I'm really going to be intrigued to see what happens moving forward because
05:16their issues are well documented.
05:19I was a little concerned about the offensive line and pass protection.
05:23I thought the pocket didn't hold up as long as I remember it in its heyday when Ragnar was in
05:29the middle of that line.
05:30But I also am fully cognizant of things can get better, and there's much respect for the O-line coach.
05:37Some of these component parts are young.
05:40Kang, do you feel better?
05:41And so I settle in.
05:43I'm at the same.
05:43I feel the same about the Lions.
05:45Kang, do you feel better, worse, or the same?
05:46I definitely feel the same.
05:48Week one, I always feel like it's just the biggest lie.
05:52It's the biggest unknown.
05:53You don't know what teams are really.
05:54I don't play the schedule game.
05:56I thought it would be close.
05:57I thought the Saints would be a lot better than we were last year.
05:59I expected a close game.
06:00It was a close game.
06:01And they won the game through all the faults that the Lions had, right?
06:05Even though it came down to the last play.
06:06I think everyone's talking about the secondary maybe being worse than they thought, feeling worse about that.
06:11Yes, there are times.
06:12The first half, I thought they played well.
06:13The second half, obviously, the Saints came back.
06:15But when it came down to it, the final play of the game, they stepped up and made the most
06:20important play to win the game.
06:21And so I think that counts for something as well.
06:25There's always going to be things you learn from.
06:27And that's why, you know, I know it's cliche, but Campbell's right.
06:30You've got to learn from the week one and then clean things up.
06:33Now you know kind of where you stand a little bit.
06:35And so I think they have to get things tightened up.
06:39They have to clean things up.
06:40They have to get better at certain things.
06:41They're still figuring themselves out, especially with Drew Petsing as the new offensive coordinator.
06:44So I feel the same.
06:46I'm not overreacting either way.
06:47But the good thing is you want to learn when you're 1-0, not 0-1.
06:51So the people are voting.

07:24So I'm really confused when it comes to this whole GM situation.
07:27I don't understand how you can't hire a GM, so you want to wait another year.
07:33But we'll just name Sean Horkoff their interim GM.
07:36So are they allowing him to make all these big decisions?
07:39Because if I'm a GM, I don't even, you know, I don't know if I want to take this job
07:42after them just allowing an interim GM to make these decisions who may not even be there at the end
07:48of the year.
07:49So I've heard this argument before, who's going to want this job?
07:52There are so few of these jobs.
07:55And people, I think fans, and I've done it too, probably overreact to who's going to want this job.
08:02Because you don't get a chance to run your own organization.
08:06And when you get that, when you, it's hard to get that chance, I guess I should say.
08:10And when you get that opportunity, A, it's probably a significant pay raise from whatever you're doing.
08:15And B, it is, it's a rare opportunity to mold it yourself.
08:20And the worst team you take over, probably the more time that you have.
08:24So I'm not, I'm not worried about who's going to want this job.

08:44And, and he's like, all right, well, I need a couple weeks to make my decision.
08:47They're like, okay, no problem.
08:48You know, we could, we've got our interim GM in place.
08:51But, or, and they say, the Red Wings say, well, we're, we're not going to hire you until the spring.
08:57Okay.
08:58In the meantime, the Sean Horkoff have the ability to go ahead and make trades and make moves.
09:03And it sounds like he does based on the, on the statement.
09:07Are you suggesting that they've reached terms?
09:10No, no.
09:10I'm just saying if, if I'm saying if, let's say they identify, I've worded it poorly.
09:14If they've identified somebody that they think that they want, they're, they're going to keep an eye on, but they
09:18themselves, the Red Wings are like, well,
09:20let's, we're going to keep up with Horkoff for this year.
09:24And, and then he starts making moves.
09:26Does that make other guys out there like, well, wait a minute.
09:29I thought I was in the running for this.
09:30And now you're going to give this guy the ability to make those moves.
09:34Again, do you think if the Red Wings circle back to him in the spring and say, okay, we're hiring
09:38you, you're going to say no.
09:40I think it's possible that they might wait for somebody else, another opening to, to show up because, wait a
09:47minute.
09:47I wanted, I had this great idea of what I could have done with this, with the Larkin situation or,
09:53or with another trade to acquire some other player.
09:55I think, I think it's, it feels to me like that would be unlikely.
09:58I mean, you know, you don't.
09:59But it just seems like this is being bungled.

10:03If you have somebody you like, hire him now.
10:06Don't wait till the spring.

10:09But they've got this interim tag.

10:19It feels to me like that scenario that Juju brought up then would reek of an absolutely incompetent organization.
