00:06How would you describe the impact Dexter made yesterday?
00:09Big, you know, and it's not always going to show up on the stat sheet.
00:12It shows up because of the production that a lot of guys around him get oftentimes.
00:15And he still was in there and made his presence felt,
00:18and Baker had to try to get away from him a couple times.
00:21Had some runs he really affected as well.
00:24But as much as anything, you just see the production that comes to other people
00:27because of the attention he draws.
00:30What's the biggest difference you saw in Barrett and Demetrius yesterday
00:34compared to the film from last year?
00:35I think just the speed in which they diagnose things and go make a play,
00:39there's no hesitation, which over the course of the season they certainly improved on.
00:45But, you know, and they trust the talent around them,
00:47so, you know, you don't have to do too much.
00:50I thought that they had really good command of the defense, you know,
00:53Barrett with the headset and doing a good job, getting us in the right calls.
00:57So I just saw – I was impressed.
00:59And, again, there's improvement for everybody to be had,
01:02but I thought it was a good starting point.
01:04How good was the O-line yesterday?
01:06They were good.
01:07You know, they kept them clean.
01:08It was a lot of pressure looks that we had to go over to get ready for the game.
01:15They got great front.
01:16And so I was really impressed with the job that they did, number one, in protection,
01:20keeping Joe clean, giving him a lot of time.
01:23To either extend the pocket and make some plays
01:26or just stand back there and wait for somebody to get open.
01:30The run game, there were some really big holes there for Chase.
01:33Some grimy runs there at the end of the game that thought were good.
01:36And then there were some opportunities, I think, just all across the board
01:38with everybody involved in the blocking to get some bigger plays that we maybe missed.
01:44Knowing that it's week one and there's still a long way to go,
01:47how good was it to get a three-phase win?
01:51Yeah, I think just week one, there's so many unknowns in every way imaginable.
01:57And so just for a team to come out and start the game the way that we did,
02:03you know, getting up 21-3 at one point I think is big to capitalize on the confidence
02:08that we had coming in.
02:09And then just to – there's a lot of things that we can learn from.
02:12But just overall I was proud of the effort, proud of the enthusiasm the guys played with,
02:18the confidence they played with.
02:20And then, you know, the objective isn't to be your best team week one.
02:23It's to be your best team at the end of the season.
02:26So I just want to see that process continue to improve for us as we get ready for Houston.
02:30What did you make for the rookies that played yesterday?
02:32It seemed like they got something back to improve.
02:34But actually what did you make for their first real game?
02:36Yeah, I thought it wasn't too big for them.
02:40You know, as I'm thinking through who Cassius – Cassius made an impact.
02:46Bobo went in there and he had the one that came to him early, you know,
02:49and so we've got to be better with our body position, our hands.
02:53But he's impressed me throughout.
02:55Who else am I missing there?
02:57I'm trying to think through those two you're talking about.
02:59Yeah, I'm really good.
03:01That closing drive starts out with a play to Dante.
03:04What did you like about him in that spot and the play that he made?
03:07Yeah, he made really two space plays where there's a player there
03:11that can make the play on him.
03:12You know, one was the jet sweep and one was the drive starter there.
03:17So that was just really good confidence by him with the ball in his hands
03:20to make people miss.
03:21Good ball security to stay in bounds, so good situational awareness.
03:25You know, you're really calling that play, hoping maybe they play some zone
03:29and Jamar gets the ball first to play the drive.
03:30But they didn't.
03:32They took him away and it gave Dante a free shot there.
03:35Joe did a good job with the location on the ball, allowing him to catch
03:37and turn and get upfield.
03:40And so, again, just really impressive, you know, the plays that came his way.
03:43He made them yesterday.
03:44And then you spoke a bit about it yesterday, but that throw to tee,
03:47was that maybe even more impressive when you rewatched it?
03:49Yeah, it is.
03:52You know, it's the gravity of the situation, I think.
03:58Usually when we make that throw, it's for free access.
04:01It's usually a single high, corners playing off, so you can run it off the steps.
04:06Quarterback can plant, throw, put it to his spot.
04:09They got their hands on tee, so tee did a really good job being strong
04:12and not getting washed inside.
04:14They really swapped the coverage because Jamar was on the shallow,
04:17so they passed it off.
04:18And so he had a new safety coming back in the middle.
04:21Joe, you could see his eyes on the TV copy, did a good job locating him
04:24and then just putting the ball where only really a 6'5 receiver could go get it.
04:29And for him to trust with the timing he did it, it's hard.
04:33Those throws are really hard because, again, when the corner puts his hands on you,
04:36it's not a free access throw anymore.
04:37You don't actually know the timing that your receiver's going to come out of the break.
04:39And so I think that's furthermore impressive that he let it go.
04:44And how team came down with the ball, I'm still not clear on it,
04:47but he's done that routinely for us, so I guess I shouldn't be that surprising.
04:50With Dante, those two plays, how much?
04:54I know it's a small sample size, but how much does a guy that does those
04:57when it's two opportunities make you guys come back on Monday and Tuesday
05:00and say we should try to expand more?
05:02I think, you know, it's just our offense is about guys making the plays that come to them.
05:07And so we have plenty of guys we can design plays to,
05:11and we focus primarily on, you know, a couple of them.
05:14But what's key is that the other players that have roles for us,
05:17they make the plays that come to them.
05:19And you never know.
05:20We're always going to try to get the ball to Jamar.
05:22And that's always part of our plan.
05:24But then sometimes other guys are just going to come open,
05:28and when your number's called, you have to make that play.
05:30And Dante made those two plays for us yesterday.
05:33I also had enough confidence.

05:44Yeah.
05:45I mean, I just have the confidence in him to make some splash plays for us
05:48and be sound with the ball security, and he's got good speed and quickness.
05:54And I feel like he can make some explosive plays for us in their turn game.

06:00Blonde question, but what did you think of the tackling in general yesterday?
06:03I thought there's going to be moments where we've got to be better at coming to balance
06:06and getting guys on the ground.
06:07But I thought the effort was there.
06:10I thought the guys did a good job leveraging the ball.
06:12I thought our vice tackling, you saw a lot of journeys around the ball.
06:17A lot of times the ball got in space.
06:18Sometimes our coverage was really good.
06:20Made them drop it down.
06:21You'd see three or four guys rally to the ball, get the ball carrier on the ground.
06:25So, overall, it was good for week one, and we'll just continue to improve from there.
06:31Going back to the film, would you see on Joe's pick six
06:35and also he has four since the start of last season.
06:39So how much of a concern is that?
06:41I'm not concerned about Joe.
06:42I think he's going to do a great job taking care of the ball.
06:44We'll progress through on that one, you know, to the next progression.
06:47That's one he'll want to have back.
06:49But, overall, he's unbelievable with his decision-making.
06:52And, of course, we don't want that to happen, but I trust him fully.
06:57Was it his call to go no huddle there?
06:58It looked like you guys were trying to run Dante on.
07:00Trying to catch 12 on the field.
07:02And so they got the 12th on.
07:03And so we got to a play we wanted to get to.
07:05So we were still able to get that executed.
07:07Obviously, it just didn't work out for us.
07:09So then, what happened with the offsides penalties?
07:12I'm sure it was something you were addressing during the game.
