00:00Yeah, it matters.
00:01You know, guys got a chance to see us close it out.
00:04I thought defense was awesome in the fourth quarter.
00:06Those guys were dog-tired.
00:07We didn't have a lot of subs, especially the guys up front, you know,
00:11talking about McKinley Jackson, Howard, Landon, Jordan Jefferson, Foskey, Antoine.
00:17I mean, those six guys took every snap and were exhausted in the heat here
00:21and held up for us.
00:23And then offensively, to be able to close it out with the ball,
00:25I thought was good stuff situationally.
00:27So a lot of things we've been preaching, I think, have really shown up
00:30over the last three preseason games.
00:32And proud of the guys for going undefeated and finding ways to win.
00:35And I thought this was a good win tonight.
00:38What exactly were you looking for the most of guys looking to make a final argument?
00:44Just doing it the way we want to do it.
00:46You know, controlling the things that they control individually,
00:49playing together as a unit.
00:50I thought our team really came together.
00:51I thought the energy on the sideline was outstanding from a lot of guys
00:54that were playing or not playing.
00:56So those are all the teams that I think a good team has.
00:59If you're on the path to a successful season, you've got a good culture,
01:01you've got a good locker room, guys are encouraging each other.
01:04And I saw that this preseason from our guys.
01:06After the first two preseason games, Zach, you talked a lot about the smooth operation
01:10in all three phases of the game.
01:13Did you see a lot of that tonight?
01:15I did.
01:16I thought there was really good communication all across the board.
01:21I thought defensively, you know, you're playing a lot of different linebackers in there.
01:24I thought they communicated well.
01:26Saw a lot of vocal guys in the back end, really getting guys aligned,
01:30making the adjustments we needed to make.
01:31I thought offensively, the two quarterbacks were nails.
01:35Josh Johnson had a superb preseason.
01:38Really don't know that he could have played much better.
01:40Sean as well.
01:41I thought Sean was awesome when he went in there.
01:43And that's credit to Brad Creighton.
01:44You know, he's got four quarterbacks in the room.
01:47He's done an excellent job over the years getting all those guys ready.
01:50And so I think that says a lot about them and the room we got.
01:52But I'm really proud of the way that those two guys operated.
01:55I just think the offensive line held up.
01:58Great.
01:59Yeah.
01:59I didn't feel a lot of pressure back there.
02:02You know, I thought those guys did a good job.
02:03You know, mostly four-man rushes, but they did a good job giving them a pocket.
02:08And we were able to run the ball.
02:09And that's what a – what do we have, 200 yards, something?
02:14What was it?
02:14Give it to me.
02:15What do you got, Trex?
02:16Come on.
02:17Put you on the spot.
02:18On the pressure, you had 211 yards.
02:20211 yards.
02:21Okay.
02:21And where did they come?
02:22They come in the fourth quarter when you got the lead like that
02:24and you're able to grind it out and then hit some big ones,
02:26like we did there with Jamal at the very end.
02:28And Kentrell had some good ones.
02:29And that's where 200 yards rushing comes from.
02:32When you got a two-score league and you're able to just start pounding it
02:34and guys break some big ones.
02:36And so – but the linemen are a big part of that as well.
02:39And so I thought that was great to see the performance from those guys.
02:41It's good to say something about Foss.
02:43The rules play the whole cap.
02:44I know he's a guy who's been under scrutiny.
02:46I mean, you know, the numbers would say he did something.
02:49I think individually up front we'll have to evaluate the tape
02:52before I go too far out there.
02:53But I would say that overall offensive line played really well.
02:56Zach, for a guy like Dante who's competing for a spot –
02:59Dante Myers competing for a spot to come out at first series
03:04or just put his hair on fire.
03:06Yeah.
03:06I feel like that kind of sets its own for a game of life or life.
03:09He's just – I mean, you want those guys –
03:11there's a lot of guys that can come out to training camp kind of in Dante's shoes,
03:16you know, where it's a first chance to make an impression in a camp.
03:18And in the first week, ten days, they make a splash
03:21and then they fizzle out.
03:23He's been consistent throughout.
03:24And so I think that says a lot about him.
03:26He's trying to take advantage of the opportunity.
03:28He's done a great job of that.
03:30How difficult is it a lot of the guys trying to make your job,
03:33which job in the next 40 years?
03:35Yeah.
03:36This has been easily – this will easily be the hardest 48 hours we face
03:41in terms of, you know, letting guys go
03:44and figuring out the practice squad.
03:47It's a big credit to Duke and his staff for the depth that we have overall.
03:51It's a big credit to the coaching staff for how they've developed a lot of these guys
03:55that have gotten in these competitions and made things hard for us.
03:57I think you're starting to see, you know,
03:59especially year two of the defensive scheme,
04:01a lot of guys make huge jumps on offense.
04:04We've been doing it, you know, for a long time now,
04:06and I think the coaches have gotten the most out of these guys.
04:08And Darren, with these specialists, has been outstanding.
04:11So I think that's a credit to the whole building,
04:13and we just got to keep it going.
04:15How confident do you feel about the roster right now?
04:17I feel very confident.
04:19I think we've got everything we need.
04:20We've got tough decisions.
04:22But I think we've got a really good roster right now.
04:27You've been very complimentary.
04:33Johnson, Josh Johnson.
04:34Sorry.
04:36Do you worry that he may have played so well
04:39that he could play himself into another opportunity somewhere else?
04:43No, I would love that for Josh.
04:44However it plays out here with Josh,
04:47Josh, he has been such a pro.
04:50He's a 20-year vet.
04:53Comes to work every single day.
04:55He's got a sense of urgency about him.
04:57He's going to capitalize on every rep he gets or doesn't get.
05:00And so really proud of him
05:02and happy to see those guys perform well.
05:04And we'll see how it all shakes out for us.
05:07What happened on the play with Jack?
05:10I think Jack was cramping, if I'm not mistaken.
05:16Yeah.
05:17I think James had like one carry,
05:19but we didn't see him much at the camp.
05:22He didn't look an eye.
05:24Yeah.
05:25You're saying he had one carry tonight?
05:27No, he had one carry before tonight.
05:29Yeah.
05:30Yeah, he had several.
05:30I think he had, what, seven or eight tonight.
05:33But he had 100 yards.
05:34Guys, just take advantage of the opportunities.
05:36You never know when they're going to come.
05:39And I thought he and Control did a great job in the second half,
05:41taking advantage of the opportunities they got.
05:44And sometimes that's just how it's going to shake out.
05:46And it was good to see those guys and make things hard on us.
