00:00The number one focus I think we walk away from is we got the win, but in four minutes we
00:04had a
00:04chance to get a stop, win the game by 10, or offense just put it away by getting a first
00:09down
00:09when they know we're going to run the ball, find a way to get the first down and ice it.
00:13So that'll give us something to really focus on. It's been a big talk of our camp so far,
00:17and so it gives us something to walk away and get better at.
00:20A lot of people making plays today and in camp, are you starting to get excited about the depth
00:24you guys have?
00:24I am, yeah. I think a lot of guys got a lot of opportunity today to really showcase their
00:29abilities, so some guys really rise and stand out in these preseason games. It'll be good
00:34to watch the tape, but there's so much going on in the preseason games. Sometimes you don't
00:37have a full grasp on who's making all the plays, but we'll get a chance to watch the tape tomorrow
00:41morning and see how guys stood out.
00:43Joe Burrow started under center, then he gets some work in shotgun. What were your biggest
00:48takeaways from the way to it?
00:49Yeah, we're just starting to function on offense and be efficient. Obviously we want to come
00:53away with more than three points in the two drives that they were in, but there's going
00:56to be some positive things and some things that will work to correct.
00:59Happy that you got to practice and first play in the rain.
01:03The first two drives, pretty rainy. It's hard when you're calling it for different quarterbacks
01:08and different guys are getting the first snaps. Never easy, but it's a good opportunity to
01:12work on the center quarterback exchange, running back quarterback exchange. You can see how
01:17many balls were on the ground on both sides. So it's better to get that stuff out of the
01:22way in preseason and so you can just see how difficult it is when you're out there in the
01:25rain.
01:26Is it concerning for you to see a joke and hit a couple times though?
01:30It's never fun. I mean, that's not what we want to happen. But again, we'll continue
01:33to improve.
01:34How would you evaluate the offense? Not just tonight, but so far, if you can.
01:38I think they've been good. They've been tested every single day from our defensive line.
01:42And again, I think the competition is making everybody better on both sides of the ball.
01:46How do you evaluate that part specifically? Because obviously you said you never want to
01:51see that happen, but you guys also aren't game planning. So is it everything kind of with
01:55those glasses on knowing that I think it would look different if you guys had been game planning?
02:00Yeah, we'll make the individual corrections we got to make. We'll make the unit corrections
02:04we got to make and then move on in the preseason.
02:06How have you seen Jack entries grow over the past few months?
02:10Well, I think he's been really consistent. You know, there's been, for rookie, you know,
02:15nothing alarming on his end. He's picked it up really fast. He's been physical. It was
02:19good to see him finish with the ball in his hands on the touchdown. I feel like he had
02:22another catch maybe somewhere too. So I think he's done a good job.
02:27A couple of plays early in the game from Swayze Bozeman. Has he turned some heads this
02:30camp?
02:31I think he's had a good camp. Yeah, I think, you know, it's important for those
02:35depth linebackers to make plays on special teams and on defense both. But I think he's
02:39really taken advantage of his opportunities.
02:40Myers looked like he wasn't too big for Myers.
02:43Yeah. He's played a lot of pro games, you know. I don't know how many exactly. But, you
02:48know, I think this isn't foreign territory for him just because it's the NFL. He's been out of
02:54college. He's played pro football and played about how we expected him to play today.
02:59Like, Colby got one snap with the ones. Was that just kind of a tip of the cap to what
03:03he's been able to do so far this summer?
03:05Yeah, a mixture of getting T a break on that one. And I think we had a miscue overall on
03:11the play. It didn't play out the way we intended. But, yeah, he's proven to be
03:16defendable.
03:17You sent out Ted at Dexter. Was there any...
03:20Our preseason captains are hard, you know. So I offer up suggestions. If you want to have
03:25a suggestion box, you can throw them in there. They've had some good battles in training
03:28camp. So I thought maybe they could walk out there together.
03:32You just mentioned Jack. I know you'll probably have a better answer.
03:35He watched the film, but of the rookies that didn't play, didn't contract Brian.
03:40I'd have to watch the tape. I really can't comment.
03:43Also, DiCario come and play tonight.
03:45Pretty close. If it was a real game, he'd absolutely play. But I think just these preseason
03:49games, him, Jalen Davis, there's a couple guys that definitely could have played if it
03:55was a real game.
03:55With Dexter and Jonathan Allen, I think they've got three snaps each. What's the fine line
04:01there? I mean, just breaking the sweat in the preseason game and just getting them into
04:05the rhythm of the venue.
04:06Just get them out there with the unit. Told them both they were going to play three plays.
04:10They were going to play less than anybody else. You know, the fans have been excited about
04:14a lot of the new acquisitions we've had. And so I wanted them to have a chance to see
04:18that huddle break and those guys go out there. And then we quickly got them out.
04:20How much does that have to do with the depth that you guys have as well?
04:24The crazy bandage and all the defensive tackles that he was.
04:27Yeah, that and just they're two really veteran defensive linemen. So they don't need to be
04:31out there too long.
