00:01why I love being at the media center it is because here you may meet a lot of
00:06people from around the world and today we are sharing a desk with Tarek Abdel
00:12Ghaffar and we are just discussing him about talking about a thing that I would
00:19like to share with you being here today is the second day we have not meet any
00:26Western journalist yet there is no one representing the leading Western outlet
00:35media outlets I mean New York Times have you seen someone no Daily Telegraph BBC
00:42but Reuters Reuters so no one and we're just talking between ourselves why no one
00:53came to call a BRICS summit what what is the reason in your opinion I think it's
01:00strange but I think they depend heavily on the coverage of news agency like Reuters
01:06and the Johnson France press they try to maybe not to give extensive coverage to
01:13BRICS because BRICS is like a grouping for the developing countries and for maybe
01:20they think that BRICS may be against the Western hegemony on economy and politics
01:24but the BRICS this year is different than other round because they concentrate heavily on economic
01:31cooperation mainly and cooperation and the try to explore cooperation in certain
01:37fields like IT and what you say how to overcome the energy shortage and food food
01:46supply shortage that's why despite the differences between some members of the BRICS they decide to
01:54set aside or this and contain these differences and concentrate heavily on economy it's win-win game
02:02because it will be in favor of these countries as such countries in the BRICS they suffer from
02:09some economic problems like food shortage energy shortage in the light of the tension in the gulf and war
02:17between Americans Iran and Iran and disruption of energy supply so what is they said how BRICS can be an
02:29economic power and overcome the problems economic problems faced by the members so it depends on
02:40exploring the benefits and having sharing with the shared value well I was respecting other people other
02:50sovereignty and okay helping each other unconditionally unlike the western countries which try to
02:58to uh to link the humanitarian assistance or the help with for example for political agenda that's why
03:06BRICS sometimes trusts China trust India trust Russia because this this country does not uh link its
03:16support for the poor countries with uh hidden agenda that's why they decided this year I think it's different
03:25BRICS well um I see it from this angle that as soon as 90 percent almost almost 90 percent of
03:35all media news in the world produced and managed by the western media outlets
03:41they're trying to hide or okay obscure what is happening in the global south because they're afraid of it
03:50they're afraid to give their people information that another world exists that is different from
03:57their mindset uh it's different from their narrative so that's why there is no one who can be um who
04:06is able
04:07to to bring unbiased information uh for their audience yeah yeah so we we see here a lot of people
04:13a lot of
04:14journalists from from the middle east uh from russia china india of course as it's their uh their summit
04:22from indonesia iran and western european no one yeah so dear friends if you are watching us from any
04:33european country please drop your comment have you ever seen something on your news and your
04:41um newspapers magazines something written about breaks and how
04:48yeah yeah uh in the usually or historically in the issue related to the south the western countries uh
04:56doesn't don't care too much about this and sometimes they're coloring the coverage uh too
05:02in favor of their own interest they don't care about uh the problem in in the south they care about
05:09uh
05:10what benefits them how they impose a hegemony on them they also uh for for example the plex is trying
05:19to find new financial institutions to provide uh the finance for the developing countries
05:26but the western countries won't insist on the traditional financial institution like imf which sometimes
05:35impose harsh conditions on developing countries but developing countries i see i told you before trust
05:43the china trust india trust russia because it's unconditional cooperation for example in many many
05:51countries we find uh these countries can have a joint project in under the principle of win-win yes
06:00just um a famous quote came into my mind actually i do not remember well who is the whom it
06:07belongs
06:08first they ignoring you then they laugh at you then they fight you and then you win
06:15uh in your opinion bricks um how how this phrase fits bricks entire bricks journey where we are now
06:27i think uh breaks on the right track because it's uh the country's bridge member doesn't concentrate on
06:35the problems they concentrate on the mutual benefit shared values they concentrate on how to overcome
06:41the economic problems economic how to try to find finance how to support uh how to avoid unilateralism
06:50in the in the international affairs they also support the reforming security un security council
06:58and the voting decision and continue reforming the united nations also
07:04uh so the so the bricks can give a push for the developing countries uh demand for reforming the uh
07:14political uh you know system especially the united nations and as a journalistic community there are
07:22plenty of us here what shall we do to break that uh western narrative towards bricks
07:29it's a hard question but i think uh it depends on uh providing the extensive coverage of information
07:38and it depends on the circulation of information sometimes the problem in covering uh the internal
07:46affairs of some bricks country is the lack of information that's why sometimes some journalists
07:51have to resort to western uh yes yes bias yeah bias sometimes so i think it must be in for
08:00in cooperation
08:01in information and exchange of uh information and finding this information about these because you know
08:07we are witnessing a flow flow of this information about the bricks countries about um the aims of the
08:16uh breaks what will do what they use but i think it's our duties as a journalist to try to
08:22uh show the facts
08:25but at the same time in institution he should uh try to provide the accurate and in-depth information
08:31about for example about trade exchange about uh economic opportunities in the in the bricks countries
08:38at same time what's encouraged the cultural interaction among uh our bricks country because sometimes
08:45they don't know what's happening on in some countries because uh in bricks countries people sometimes
08:52depend also on the western news agency to tell us what's going on in russia for example and this
08:57but by exchanging information among news agencies for example and tv stations and internet and this we can
09:06correct we can give the correct image of this of this yes and the break the western domination on the
09:13flow of news and flow of information so it's a very important media cooperation among the brics country
09:19okay thank you very much thank you i wish let's cooperate
