Kai Cenat gives GQ an exclusive look at the Vivet Journal 1 collection. From the first of its kind Vivet streamer backpack to the electrician boots, Kai walks us through the journey that profiled each and every piece in his debut Vivet collection.

00:10It's Kai Sinat.
00:11And today I'll be showing you some of my favorite pieces
00:12for my first Vivette collection.
00:15Vivette means he, she, or it will live forever.
00:17And it's something I've been trying to work on for the last three years.
00:20And I'm so happy to show you guys inside of my world.
00:23When I started the design process,
00:25my early influences were just, you know,
00:27being in the shoes of somebody who was approaching this field.
00:29As a beginner, you know, not knowing a lot of the things that I've learned now,
00:33but it was a long, long journey
00:35and just being able to go on a journey with myself
00:37and finding the ways through, you know, the world of clothing.
00:40Streaming and being in the field of fashion is definitely two separate worlds,
00:44but I do feel as if there's some tunnels and ways and alleyways
00:48that they both can connect in.
00:49I was very lost in this field, did not know what to really do,
00:52but I felt like being vulnerable and transparent about certain things
00:55was necessary to make sure that everybody was able to follow the journey
00:58and here we are now.
01:00How about I show you guys the inside of my journal.
01:02So a lot of you guys have seen this.
01:04I spoke about it very publicly on how I was learning
01:06to go through a lot of things over the past of nine months
01:09and it was very clean, very fresh.
01:11This is what you guys did because this is not the actual journal.
01:14This is my actual journal.
01:16So what we've done is we wanted to do something special for you guys.
01:19So from the first customers who ordered from the brand,
01:21you guys will be getting a gift from Vivette,
01:23where we would include a duplication of the journal inside the packaging.
01:27You'll be able to see how some of the items
01:29or the whole entire journey and process was developed.
01:32Now within this journal, it has exactly what I've written down verbatim
01:36of just, you know, learning everything fresh and new
01:40with the date, time, location on it and Polaroid photos
01:43to show kind of the process of how everything went down,
01:48even with show designs and the different departments of where we went to.
01:52The inspiration behind the show is broken up into three different parts
01:56and all displays each level of the journey with act one being the beginning,
02:00act two being where you kind of find a level of direction
02:04and be able to map your way throughout trial and errors
02:07and act three being ultimately where you outshine your past self
02:12and you shed into this new life and new beginnings.
02:17This hoodie, in my opinion, is really, really special to me.
02:21From the silhouette to the way it looks,
02:24it is very much the vibe of somebody who is just starting out.
02:28Some of the hoodies I have, like I've tried to test myself.
02:30A lot of the times I upload them to YouTube with me showing
02:32I still have a lot of videos of me showing
02:35and I haven't shown in a minute because the patience for that is crazy.
02:38But, yes, this is exactly how I would sew a hoodie
02:42and this is exactly how we did it.
02:43And I thought it would be cool to be able to, you know,
02:46make it an actual item, a part of the collection.
02:47It doesn't get more transparent, more genuine than this.
02:50Obviously, the seams look like unique in its own way
02:53because it was done by somebody who was just starting out.
02:55So I'm very excited for this one
02:56because this is more of an emotional item for me personally
03:00because it's the very first one.
03:02I like this. Every time I put it on,
03:04it just reminds me of just like being free,
03:06being comfortable and, you know, being in your own world.
03:09And then we have, you know, red colorway,
03:11multiple colorways, white, brown.
03:12Brown is a good one too.
03:13And also with the matching sweatpants,
03:15which I'll show you guys right now.
03:18We have the matching sweatpants with the logo on the right side.
03:22And then after, very comfortable.
03:24I know how to make sweatpants as well too.
03:26So this is kind of like resembling like exactly how this would look
03:29if a beginner was to do it, you know?
03:32This being act one is obviously the beginning of, you know, where it can go.
03:35So very proud of this.
03:41This is the balaclava sweater.
03:43This one is probably another favorite piece of mind from this collection.
03:46Just because of how difficult I now know this knitwear is to be able to assemble.
03:52But like, this is such a cool item because for my culture of my mom being Trinidadian,
03:56a lot of their faces recovered and only show their eyes.
03:59So we took inspiration from that and put it into this hoodie.
04:03So this is a special hoodie to me too.
04:05We went for comfortability with this one as well.
04:07I do like to have a sense of privacy when I'm outside.
04:10So when I am traveling, I love hoodies that can hide majority of your face.
04:14And this is the one, you know, you kind of see it from a side angle that it only shows
04:19your eyes
04:19if you zip it up all the way.
04:21I think there's a lot of ways that you can, you know, necessarily style this.
04:24Me personally, with comfortable sweatpants, a nice book bag and be on our way.
04:29But also this is going to be really good for like the winter, fall time.
04:32And we want to duck off a little bit or like, you know, in front of a fireplace or something
04:35like that, you know.
04:40Now I can show you something a little bit more experimental.
04:43I can show you something a little bit more about what I'm going to do.
04:47This is the streaming backpack, TVU backpacks.
04:50We have a functional one and an on the go backpack for whatever you want.
04:54Small items, whatever you want to do.
04:55But we have a pony hair colorway and a nice blue leather colorway right here.
04:58I've never seen nothing like this because it's bringing something from my world where people are used to be seen
05:04in
05:04and transferring it over to Vivette's world.
05:06This has to be by far one of my favorite bags right here because of the material.
05:12This is Pony here. This is a non-functional one.
05:15And the functional one that we do have is this black one.
05:18As you guys can see, there's like airways and air holes for the TVU to actually be able to be
05:24in here
05:25and for people to stream out of.
05:26So this is very special in a way because, you know, we try to find a way to, you know,
05:31still have that luxury to it,
05:32but also be able to be functional and compatible with the systems that have to go in here.
05:37The TVUs are very expensive that people already know.
05:41So why not, you know, stream in style with these nice backpacks?
05:48Right here is what we call the Sonova bag.
05:52It has four straps in total, but it is different ways.
05:55You can rock this. You can rock this, you know, short when you're just trying to walk around and have
06:00it like this.
06:00And then you can wear this on the arm like so.
06:05One items I had a vision for where I wanted to be a double strap in a bag.
06:09I personally just love bags to be on the go and travel with.
06:13The approach we went for it was like just trying to be experimental with, is it okay if we have
06:16four straps on the bag?
06:17And we found a way to just being able to rock all of it.
06:21This item in particular, I was very excited to see how the outcome was for it because of where it
06:26all started and all the different directions we could have turned at.
06:29But I feel like now we have a super clean one.
06:31And with trial and error, we've got exactly what we needed.
06:35Let me show you another version.
06:37This one with the stones on it and a very, very deep bag if you look inside.
06:42Side pockets here, you know, with the Vivette logo right there.
06:45Other pockets in the back, other pockets inside the back, other stashes inside the front, more pockets in front of
06:53the front.
06:53I personally like a bag of pockets.
06:55So I feel like when you're traveling, you should be able to have a lot of things to just fit
06:59in a nice bag.
07:00So this is a very big bag if you're just, you know, deciding to travel or deciding, you know, day
07:05on the beach, you want to just pop out, you know?
07:07So I really like this one.
07:08This is very the first one that I have publicly shown on the internet.
07:12The design process of, you know, the Vivette logo was deciding to last forever.
07:17If you look closely at the logo, like you could kind of draw like an infinity sign to where like
07:21this is everlasting.
07:22People may say it may resemble a compass.
07:25You feel me?
07:25So like finding your way through, as you know, this is Vivette and the journey.
07:29And also just standing out in a unique, aggressive way is kind of what I want it.
07:33You know, unfortunately this won't be out now, but I'm definitely planning on dropping this in the near future.
07:39Can't wait.
07:39This is the mini Synova, which a lot of girls do like to carry around.
07:44Mini bags are less noticeable than the bigger bags, but it's very classy, you know?
07:48And these come with a cross body strap to go around and I like these too.
07:53This is our work wear jacket, which is kind of inspired by where I'm from, which is New York City.
07:58You see a lot of construction and, you know, this is kind of like the vibe that I grew up
08:03on with these type of work wear jackets.
08:05And the treatment is, you have some wax on it and one of my favorite jackets out there.
08:10A lot of, a lot of these, these pieces are my favorites because I can't wait to just wear these
08:14finally.
08:15I think this jacket right here is timeless.
08:17I would personally style this with some good work wear boots and some jeans and maybe a hoodie underneath it.
08:23Just to give real attire and construction vibe.
08:26And it is definitely wax on top of this.
08:29So a lot of this is very unique on how it was made.
08:32And if you feel it, it's, it has a very good feeling to it.
08:36Very good texture.
08:37I'm, I'm in love with it.
08:38These dual pockets, you can kind of like unbutton a lot of this and rebutton it and small pocket.
08:44And there's another zipper pocket right here.
08:45So you can stash a lot of good stuff and inside the pockets feel really nice.
08:50I kind of like a lot of my items to be timeless in terms of where you should know when
08:54to have logos or not.
08:55And having these V shaped pockets completely tell you what brand it is and the design identity of it stands
09:02out.
09:03And you'll see that throughout a lot of the things that we have on this rack.
09:06And this jacket, we have more colorways to it.
09:09So this one is more like of a darker brown tone.
09:11The way you, when you feel it, it does feel worn in as if like your dad just came in
09:15from work.
09:16And no two garments are the same because all of this is done by hand.
09:21This is new and unique in a way.
09:23So I'm happy about it.
09:25And when you come over here, these are some items that I kind of try not to spam because I
09:31really do like them.
09:32And these are the leather button ups.
09:33You probably will see me at dinner with these a lot of times.
09:35OK, so like I personally love button ups.
09:39And as you guys can see, the black colorway is a little bit more, you know, simpler way, but also
09:43very loud as well.
09:44Because of the back has the V cut in the back, but also has some breathing room.
09:49V shaped cuffs right here.
09:51Another design identity while these are asymmetrical cuffs right here.
09:55So they are unique.
09:56And this one does have more of the silver buttons.
10:00These have more of the classic button ups going straight down.
10:03So they're similar, but also very different.
10:07When I do throw it on, I have my confidence is 100% through the roof.
10:12And, you know, this kind of comes out in a later act of the show.
10:16So that's act three is all about, you know, the confidence and being able to hold your head high and
10:20being able to go to just different places.
10:22This item in particular, the material that's made of is super tumbled and it goes through a long, tough process
10:27to make sure it gives a real relaxed look and feeling.
10:33Another unique one is this beautiful jacket here.
10:37The V identity on the back as well.
10:38The treatment on this one is very unique because it just looks like some workwear vibes again.
10:43You see the zippers on the sleeve.
10:45And also what I do like about this one is that these sleeves kind of like cut right here.
10:49So that when you do have it on, it is a little bit more mobile.
10:52It feels as if like you're touching a snake.
10:55It looks like a lot of cracks and different texture to it.
10:58But when you feel it, it is very consistent and smooth.
11:01The back of the jacket does have a V shape on it, you know, also does have cuts inside.
11:07And it also like this just gives off a reminding of like shedding skin, you know, a new journey, a
11:13new, new beginnings.
11:14So to achieve this jacket, we had to go through two cotton mockups.
11:17And then after a lot of wash testing, leather is kind of a hard material to wash.
11:23So to achieve the way it fits, we have to get down to the exact millimeter measurements.
11:33Next, this tracksuit in particular, this black and purple colorway.
11:37We have a whole bunch of colorways that are also dropping, but this one has more of like a modern
11:40type of vibe to it.
11:42You know, eye candy to anybody who just wants to walk in and just find something that just stands out.
11:47And the logo is very unique.
11:48It's very different right here to Vivette logo here.
11:51And this is just the Vivette sport logo, which is a category within the brand.
11:55So, you know, you may see this more and more often in the future.
11:58The pockets on the front is unique because they kind of go straight down opposed to on the side.
12:05Because it's just a different style of stance.
12:07You know, the way you stand when the pocket's on the side is more like your arms are to your
12:11side.
12:12To where when you stand like this, it kind of gives a whole nother look, which is very important.
12:20All right, here we have the Leather Running Stitch Vivette Dad Hat.
12:24And I love hats that are like this.
12:27I'm a big hat guy myself.
12:29So this came out so beautiful.
12:31You can see the nice different type of graphics that Vivette has.
12:35I'm somebody who at first I really did like fitteds.
12:38Coming from where I'm coming from, fitteds is all you've seen in New York.
12:41As I kind of grew up more and more and more, I kind of gravitated towards more of the trucker
12:44vibe.
12:45You know, more of the dad hat vibe.
12:46I like these hats because when you put the cap down, you definitely can like hide your eyes a lot.
12:53So what is the first thing you ever designed?
12:55Like ever?
12:55Yeah.
12:57Like I said, yeah.
12:58Open this.
12:59What's it?
12:59But you, y'all know?
13:01Take it out.
13:01Take it.
13:03Oh my gosh.
13:04That is kind of crazy that you guys have this right now.
13:06So how do you have this?
13:08How do I have this?
13:09For my first ever, ever, ever when I made clothes in like 2021.
13:15Funny story.
13:15I made shirts.
13:16I made the hats.
13:17And then I had somebody just doing everything out of their basement in New York.
13:21They said they were able to do it.
13:22And then when it came to launch day, everybody bought it.
13:25And after I had to refund everybody because I didn't know how to ship out the items.
13:28So, this is cool.
13:32Okay.
13:32Now, what is going on?
13:34The legs.
13:36Absolutely gorgeous.
13:37Like the back.
13:38You know, some more of that V identity on the back, which I really love.
13:41Clean, civil wear, very simple, straight leg down.
13:44And I like these because when you do try them on, these stack in such a unique way that
13:49just feels good to the body.
13:50So, if you have like boots, shoes, whatever it is on, you can clearly, even if you don't
13:55have any footwear on, they stack perfectly on your legs.
14:02Speaking of pants, let me bring you guys both, okay?
14:06We have this black one.
14:08Nice pair of skinny denims.
14:11And every time I try these on, I like them because they actually have stretch to them.
14:15It's so crazy when you're working on your own collection because you just love everything.
14:19Right here is a very unique patch that's on the back of these.
14:22Brown.
14:23The density of the V on the back.
14:25Very unique in its way.
14:25But also, we took a look at the pockets.
14:27We have an angle to them.
14:29It's wax treatment.
14:30And this is from, again, the culture of where my mom is from, which is Trinidad and Tobago.
14:36During carnival, they have a lot of the black paint that gets thrown around during carnival.
14:42And we kind of implemented that and took inspiration from that and put it on the denim here today.
14:47So, a lot of the collection, as I said before, is going from a beginner to gaining confidence.
14:52So, if you look and pay attention to the belt loops, they're often inconsistent.
14:57As you guys can see, there's like one.
14:59You can kind of see it's very spaced off.
15:01But it's also to remind you just like, it's also going to be some level of like mistakes.
15:06Starts your journey of becoming a beginner to wherever you end up.
15:10And the belt loops do remind you of the journey in itself.
15:16Now, let's get into the next suit.
15:19This is like a brother and a sister.
15:20As you guys can see, we have the consistency of the inspiration from carnival, where they celebrate with like the
15:26paint and stuff.
15:28And we have the woman's body suit here with the moto top here.
15:34That's also scuba material.
15:36I like both of these because they kind of resemble each other.
15:39They look like they're in the same family.
15:41You have the logo placements right in the center chest of both of these items.
15:46I don't know if anybody out there has ever, you know, felt what a moto top feels like.
15:50But a moto top feels really safe and sturdy and compacting the body together.
15:55And then this body suit does feel a lot more stretchy than something like this.
16:01So you can be able to stretch in different ways when you're trying it on and making sure it fits
16:06the way you want it to.
16:13Now it's time for my personal favorite footwear.
16:17We made sure to make sure we have a lot of footwear that I feel like you guys are going
16:22to like.
16:22I personally really, really, really love boots.
16:25I am a big fan of boots.
16:26I feel like boots give you confidence.
16:28I like how tactical they look.
16:30I like how military vibes they look.
16:32These are one of the boots that we are going to be releasing.
16:35This is the high top version of it.
16:36I love how the outsole is looking and this zipper going straight down the front.
16:41That's a comfortable vibe.
16:42I just want somebody, when they wear this, to make them feel very confident.
16:46And just being able to swag it however you want to swag it, whether it's the zipper down, zipper up.
16:50You guys can point out the V's on the side, the V's on the inside.
16:55Beautiful word logo here, placement logo right here on the tongue of it.
16:59I'm in love.
17:03If I had to wear this, I would literally go these boots, the model top, the wax denim.
17:09So when you step out in this outfit, they know you're not coming to play.
17:13You're coming out there very confident.
17:15If I throw this on right now, I would feel very confident within myself.
17:19And then here, we have the ranch boots.
17:23I love the simplicity of these.
17:25I would personally wear these with some shorts and just swag them differently.
17:28As you guys can see, these have some resemblance to the beginner sweatsuits and hoodies.
17:34As you guys can see, there's no direct scenes and stuff like that.
17:37With this one, it's literally the same thing.
17:39These are detachable, so you can take these off if you would like to and rock them a certain way.
17:44Or you can easily snap them right back on to where there was, and you can wear it how you
17:52want.
17:52These aren't for sale yet, but of course, I'm open to it in the near future.
17:58Next, we have the low top version.
18:01These are called the Vivette electrician boots.
18:03I really love what we've done with the low top versions because it still feels and give off the confidence
18:10of the high top versions.
18:11Same thing, just like the little brother.
18:13These have the V's on them on the top, while these are very plain black on the sides.
18:19These are not releasing, but you never know when they're going to drop.
18:25Now we have the Vivette low first, with the logos going everywhere, the monogram going everywhere.
18:31And these are how the bottoms look.
18:33Very clean.
18:34If you're going out to dinner or you got to go somewhere professional, you got a meeting, you got to
18:38attend.
18:38When I'm in the house or anything like that, these are slip-ons and slip-outs.
18:42Like you can wear this going outside real quick or while you're inside.
18:47And then these are a little bit more loud because the logos are consistently throughout the shoe.
18:52The Vivette combat boots.
18:54You have the logo on the outside.
18:56And I love the way this one came out as well.
18:59These are not for sale, but again, you never know what's going to happen.

19:08You guys got to take a look a little bit deeper into the collection with myself.
19:11I'm just so happy to anybody who's able to wear this and rock it with the confidence that they have.
19:17And you guys, a majority of people have seen the journey behind this.
19:20And I want this brand to be perceived as the new brand that everybody got to see come to life.
19:26And understand that life is a journey and whatever you're going through is a journey.
19:30And you'll be able to overcome it on the other side.
19:33And I cannot wait to show you guys a lot more.
