00:02The Launceston and North East Railway Group has spent almost five years restoring and maintaining this former fire station at

00:16The group is a registered men's shed. Its main goal is to preserve a section of disused railway.
00:22It also opened a rail bug tourism venture earlier this year.
00:26But the members have been told they'll soon need to leave their headquarters because the Tasmania Fire Service plans to
00:34sell the decommissioned fire station.
00:36It's a huge blow.
00:38The group's leader says the Tasmania Fire Service had made a verbal agreement to eventually give the building to them.
00:45You know, your word used to be your honour but it obviously is not. And that's a sad thing.
00:50It's not an operational fire station so from a DPFEM perspective we're seeking to now put that out into the
00:56market
00:56and we'll work through with all the proponents that might have an interest in them.
01:01The Tasmania Fire Service says it has allowed the group to use the old Karula fire station informally and for

01:08It says the fire service no longer needs the station and has encouraged the group to take part in the
01:14sale process.
01:16Miss Cute says the group can't afford to buy the property and members are devastated by the TFS decision.
