00:00Sovereign countries should be free to say who they want to partner with and on what level
00:06without facing pressure from larger countries inclusive of superpowers.
00:11That is according to Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister in the Communist Party of China, Hong Lei.
00:17TV6 News saw the minister's thoughts on the geopolitical landscape in the Caribbean region
00:22as it pertains to the United States and its intervention in Venezuela,
00:26which the government of TNT did not condemn.
00:30We are firmly opposed to the intervention by foreign nations to an independent, sovereign country
00:38for their development, for their cooperation with other foreign countries.

00:55This kind of cooperation is beneficial both to Latin America and the Caribbean countries
01:02as well as China.
01:05This cooperation is in the interest of the average people of these two sides.
01:12So we sincerely hope that we can continue our cooperation in the coming years
01:19for strengthening our steps in expediting our modernization progress.

02:22to the mechanisms that are available for further cooperation
02:25and to form more mutually beneficial partnerships.

02:31And we think this is a new opportunity for the further development of our good friends in Global South.
