00:02Well that 17 hour flight from LA landed here at Melbourne Airport bright and early this morning
00:08ahead of tomorrow's historic game at the MCG. Now this is the first time ever that a season
00:14regular game has been played here on Australian soil so a huge deal for American football fans
00:22here in Australia and also no doubt creating a lot more NFL fans as well. Now unfortunately for
00:27some of those waiting fans this morning the LA Rams didn't come through the regular arrivals gate
00:33here they were bused from a separate door and it is understood they're going straight into a training
00:39session today because really they do not have any time to waste they are just 24 hours out from that
00:45big game tomorrow which some fans believe may not have been the wisest choice others think it is what
00:52the Rams are used to and they will be fine but it wasn't just the Rams that flew in this
00:56morning but
00:56fans from right across Australia and the world we've spoken with fans from New Zealand with friends
01:01from Germany who flew in and I think they're pretty glad that they're not playing tomorrow they said
01:06their flight was long enough they can't imagine having come off a 17 hour one and then having to
01:11play a major NFL game tomorrow a few other fans came from Perth and they've told us just how
01:18incredible it is to see a game here on home turf. So we never ever thought that we'd honestly be
01:23able
01:23to see an NFL game in our lives so being able to fly to Melbourne instead of flying over to
01:28San Francisco
01:29or LA obviously much much easier so very happy. Yeah I think the Rams have shot themselves in the foot
01:35a little bit just because I think like you said it's going to be a home game for them just
01:40because
01:40everyone is going to be on their side for how they've been interacting with the community and stuff.
01:45As you've heard there the San Francisco 49ers really have made Melbourne home over the last week
01:51they've taken a completely opposite approach to the LA Rams flying in last Friday and they've spent
01:58the last week really acclimatising to Melbourne's time zone getting over that jet lag and as I said
02:04making Melbourne home painting the town red and they've really got that Melbourne fan base behind
02:08them. There have been a number of events across the week to really encourage and market this game
02:15whereas the LA Rams just flying in today really haven't had that opportunity but both of these
02:20techniques have been based off sports science advice so it will be really interesting to see
02:25which one of those approaches pays off tomorrow and it's all kicking off at the MCG at 10.35.
