00:00When Muffin first arrived the fear in her eyes was heartbreaking. Three weeks ago we brought her
00:05home and honestly we didn't know if she'd ever feel safe enough to even step outside her crate
00:10but we didn't give up and a huge part of that was my wife. What she did with Muffin I
00:15never expected.
00:17So the moment we got Muffin she was terrified. We put her into the garden and it took us hours
00:24to get her back inside. Once we got her in we set up this area for her for the night
00:28and then she
00:29did this. Time to go downstairs and see all the doggies. It's the morning after rescuing Muffin.
00:41We let all our other dogs out. Muffin seemed to be curious and now it's time to see if she'll
00:46go out
00:47too. Hello Muffin. Oh my god look at her. Okay you go. Come on then. Okay. There she goes and
00:58then I'm
00:58gonna open this door up and see if she wants to come out. Come on then Muffin. And here she
01:02is.
01:04That's really good. I was hoping she was gonna come out and this one is very curious. I'm obviously
01:07just completely ignoring her. If I stare at her you can see she'll run away.
01:13Oh. Okay so Muffin isn't in love with the playful dogs. I went inside and cleaned up all of her
01:19area
01:19and then we realized we had the same problem. We couldn't get her inside. I've got all five dogs
01:26food ready. Breakfast ready so time to feed Muffin. Muffin if you want to go in that corner that's
01:31fine. It's okay. Do you know what I'm gonna just leave this here for you Muffin. Here you go. I'm
01:34sure
01:35you'll go to it. There she goes. I'm not giving her a lot of food because to be honest she
01:39could do
01:39with a bit of a diet. You're in weight loss camp here. And this was our biggest problem. You might
01:45have noticed Muffin walking a little differently. We didn't know how serious it was until later but
01:50one thing was clear. If we had any chance of helping her it was going to come down to my
01:54wife Ella.
01:55So we knew we needed to get Muffin in. We bought an anti-escape harness and the idea is to
02:00try and get
02:00this onto Muffin so that we can attach a lead and bring her inside. Sorry to interrupt your nap Muffin.
02:07We're gonna have to take that one off Muffin. We've got a nice new harness for you. Taking off her
02:12current harness was quite easy. Unclipping both sides and very gently removing it from her head
02:17but putting on the new harness that wasn't so easy. We managed to get Muffin away from the bush
02:22and we could gently lift her head to get it through. Ella somehow managed to then get the harness under
02:27her and clip it on so we did it. And once we left she showed some good signs of rebounding
02:32from a
02:33scary experience for her. Muffin is moving about again which is good. She actually just came to
02:38the door. We'll leave her out there let her decompress and then hopefully hopefully hopefully
02:42tonight we'll be able to just clip a lead onto that harness and just bring her in. Ella managed to
02:49block
02:49off a lot of the garden which meant Muffin was right next to the door. Getting her in from here
02:54with her new harness should hopefully be quite easy.
02:57She's strong. All right once you get in I can clip it. She's strong. I'll close that. So I'm gonna
03:02bring her
03:02into the house to work so I don't want her to get stuck in the side of the tree.
03:13I'm gonna take her lead off. Take it off. Good girl. All right. She is in. Muffin actually explored the
03:20house a little bit which is a great first step. The next day we wanted to do a bit of
03:25confidence
03:25building with her in hopes that we can walk her by the end of this video. So the first thing
03:31we are
03:31going to do is simply train Muffin eye contact. The reason why is because that's always what makes it
03:37easiest to train them when they stare at you. So first I'm just gonna see if she'll take a treat.
03:46Okay that's good. I quickly realized I'm making training harder for her because she needs to turn her head
03:51so I sat in front of her to simplify things. Yes. So now anytime she flicks her eyes at me
03:57I'm gonna reward her with a treat. So whilst we train Muffin. Yes. I just wanted to show you guys
04:03these amazing custom phone cases we got made from Casetify. This one shows Kobe and Moki. They look
04:09absolutely adorable. We've got another one that has all of the dogs that we've rescued on it
04:15and of course we've got one with the lovely Muffin on it too. Muffin girl. I was about to just
04:23give her
04:23a treat. Do you know what? I remember Dilnaz our professional dog trainer did say that sometimes
04:28she just gets a treat because we don't always need to give her treats for doing something because
04:33she's quite scared. Sometimes she just gets a treat. Yes. So creating these phone cases was
04:39super easy. We simply just went on to Casetify's website, chose the layout we wanted, added our
04:44photos, dragged and dropped them. You can move them around if needed and done. It's like super easy.
04:51So what we're gonna do now is we're actually gonna swap with Ella because Muffin's a bit more scared
04:55of me and she's a lot braver with Ella. We're gonna see if we swap how she's gonna be. Yes.
05:02Good girl. So we've got this snappy grip stand with Kobe and Moki's face on it
05:06and it means that filming is so much easier with one hand. Look. Yes.
05:17And because it's got high magnetic strength it means like it won't drop on the floor when we've
05:21got all of these dogs around us. No accidents. So I don't know if you guys noticed but there was
05:26also
05:26this little handle on the phone case and the reason why is because we've got this useful strap
05:32that connects to the phone and this now means that our phone is hands-free but if we really quickly
05:39need to pick it up and film it's super easily done. Yes. Good girl.

06:12gets her breakfast ready Muffin actually sticks around. It's the first time she's looked really
06:17comfortable in the house. Muffin is now coming into the conservatory but she is kind of like
06:22half looking in. Muffy. Muffy. That's what I call her. Muffy. Hello darling. Hi. She's looking more and
06:29more curious. Oh you scared her. You scared her. She goes up. Hello. Hi. So Ella says she's following
06:37her around. She even started interacting with our dogs too. I left her outside in the garden. I come
06:43back in and find Muffin doing this. I've got no idea how she's gotten up here but she's literally
06:51on the window so I don't want her to get hurt when she's getting down. Muffin what have you done?
06:56Right we're gonna put this bed here so you can get down. Right come on Muffin down. Come on gently.
07:00Come on. Yes you've messed this up haven't you. Come on Muffin down. Good girl. There you go. Don't do
07:06that again Muffin. You silly girl. That night she then does the mandatory pull on the rug. Another
07:13one ruined. Thanks Muffin. And the next day we actually got a vet in to take a look at her
07:18legs.
07:19She hunkers herself down when she's scared so we use the towel to lift her up so that the vet
07:23can check
07:24her out. Muffin surprised us at her checkup. The vet got her walking a little, prescribed pain
07:29medication and made it clear. She needs to walk to rebuild strength in her back legs. We didn't know
07:35how we'd get her there until we saw something shift. She was starting to trust Ella. This was
07:40our way in. Someone's joined me in the kitchen. Oh you've been a bit shy. She's been shy. Hello cutie.
07:47What are you doing? Don't tell changes. So little did I know when I was at the house Ella was
07:52working
07:52really hard to gain Muffin's trust and it was working. Hello. I'm gonna come on the sofa. Come on then.
07:59This was the most adorable thing I've ever seen. Hello darling. You come to sit on the sofa
08:08with me? Are you joining your foster mama on the sofa? Oh you want more pets. Her cheeky personality
08:22was really starting to come out. She's so stinking cute. Look at her loving life.
08:30I come outside and Muffin is sleeping on the foot thing. She seems to really like that.
08:36Silly girl. We put a lot of work into Muffin and it became clear she trusted Ella far more than
08:42me.
08:42That's something you see a lot with rescues especially when their past hasn't been kind.
08:46After our training session we took the dogs out for a walk and then we noticed something.
08:50Muffin looks like she wants to come but the problem is is look if you try and get close
08:54to her to put a lead on her she does that. But I know she wants to come outside.
08:59The next time we went out we preempted she'd do this so we had a lead on her and we
09:03were going
09:04to try and take her outside for the first time. I think I need to go out because she's scared.
09:09Yeah. Probably. Get ready to grab her and be a Muffin.
09:11But Muffin went back to her corner. She got a bit scared.
09:14Right so we missed it but Muffin has actually come outside. She's obviously gotten a little
09:19bit scared. So we have got Kobe and Moki here to just give her a bit of additional support.
09:25We'll let her obviously like sniff the air and everything and see if she wants to move
09:29but she has made it. Well done Muffin. Okay she's moved slightly. We're literally just going to let
09:33her take everything in. I'm going to come like behind her so that she's not scared.
09:38Good girl Muffy girl. You gone shy. She kind of like very erratically sort of ran outside and
09:46then hunkered down as soon as she got out. I went flying. Huh? I went flying. Yeah yeah Ella had
09:51her lead.
09:52Not with my slides. So Muffin did make it outside but clearly not ready to actually go walking just yet.
09:58We brought her back in and gave her loads of encouragement. She did really good.
10:05So that was a lot guys but I think I did well. I'm such a brave girl. We wanted to
10:11make sure Muffin
10:11was as comfortable as possible ours so we got her a new bed and her reaction was absolutely adorable.
10:18We thought it would be nice for her to have an actual bed as opposed to like this little
10:21floor thing that she's got. Oh I'm not sure she's gonna fit on that. She's fat as anything.
10:26Oh my god she's gonna absolutely love that. We ended up giving her her first chill on it and just
10:32look how happy she looks. We wanted to make sure we kept the bonding momentum going with Ella and Muffin
10:38and Ella was really on it. Me and Muffin have been hanging out quite a lot in this conservatory because
10:43she loves being in your presence and just hanging out. She doesn't necessarily want fuss all the time.
10:49I mean she does like attention but she also just likes quality time. As you can see she's very comfortable.
10:57in her chair. Look at her. She is a lady of pleasure. Hi. I'm sitting on the camera so I

11:07everyone how much you're a love bug. And then Muffin did the unthinkable and actually came upstairs.

11:20enough too long. Muffin. Hello. Muffin's progressing really well but we knew that she needed some training
11:27to get used to having a lead on her to go outside. So we brought in our professional dog trainer
11:32Dilnaz
11:32to work with her. So any nose sniffing. Yeah. Any looking at the lead anything like that we mark and
11:41reward her for it. Dilnaz is teaching us how to get Muffin to associate the lead with something
11:45positive. She repeated this until she was able to actually clip the lead onto Muffin's collar.
11:50It doesn't help that I've changed my position. Yes. Good girl. Question is will she take a treat?
11:58Wow. Yes she did because that's a good way of checking her stress level. Yeah to see
12:03if they'll take a treat. Muffin did absolutely amazing and she's really starting to become
12:08Ella's best friend. Just look at how comfortable she is with her. We're still yet to walk Muffin but
