You know, recently I was out doing an inspection with an inspector and as an agent for the buyer, it’s my responsibility to accompany the inspector and let him into the house and let him do his thing.
So anyway, we started walking around and I’m watching him and learning at the same time.

One of the things that he does, he has a little plug adapter and he will plug it into various outlets and it will either light up saying that it’s, you know, green is good or red, it’s no good.

Well, we were outside, an outside outlet, and the red showed up and the outlet was not good.

So this is something that is very valuable that the inspector does because obviously the homeowner is not going to see it.

I would not see it because again, the outlet is outside and that’s why you’re paying the inspector to do that.
So how do we solve the problem?

Well, the next step is that we went downstairs to the panel box. Opened it up, and I’ll show you — and you look at the circuit breakers.

The circuit breakers, if they’re on, they’re all the way over to the right and if they’re off, they’ll click back to the left.

The circuit breakers are excellent because they are grounded. Thus, they’re safe to touch even if it’s not working properly.

So let me show you what happened….

So here we are downstairs trying to find the problem.

So we open up the panel box and we’re looking at the breakers, and of course all of them are to the right, with the exception, oh, what’s this one?

So, switched it off, switched it on, and it works.

However, I plan to have an electrician come and check it out and see why the breaker is being thrown.

This is a job for an electrician. Not a hard fix, but somebody who is licensed.

THAT’S MY POINT…
